Introduction:

In the mid 20th century the Soviet Army sought to modernize its vast fleet of aging T-44 tanks which until then had remained a highly kept state secret. In the years 1961 and 1966 respectively Soviet engineers produced two models: the T-44M and the T-44MS which incorporated significant upgrades over the original design. This latter build became the pinnacle of T-44 production encompassing a "Cyclone" stabilized gun platform and upgraded V-54 engine. They continued to serve until the 1970s in reserve duty when they were finally retired to due to their obsolescence.

I dont rly think its what we need atm. Would be better to concentrate on filling gaps in tech tree like more light tanks. OR fill half empty trees like Japan ground, or non egzisting Italy

+1

Like the idea and with a new powerplant and stabilizer it could fit into a flanker role perhaps.

I like it , but I'd rather see new tanks put in the game first rather than different versions/modifications of the same tank.

Doesn't mean we can't have both :dntknw:

Ammo was reduced to 35 rounds. The turret traverse rate goes down to 15 Degs/S. You gain .5 Degs/S of elevation speed tho.

I'm pretty sure the sources say it could carry a max total of 61 rounds, where are you getting those stats from Wulf?

"В связи с наличием узлов и агрегатов стабилизатора СТП-2 «Циклон» боекомплект к пушке уменьшили до 35 выстрелов."

Due to the presence of stabilizer components for STP-2 'Cyclone', ammunition for the gun was reduced to 35 shots

Thanks again, I'll add that to my list of sources.

I'd say the gap between the T-44's 120mm turret and 85mm gun versus the T-54's 200mm turret and 100mm gun is a pretty expansive gap.

If this has access to that advanced 85mm HEAT shell with ~200-300mm ish of penetration as well as that stabilizer it'd be a good fit at 6.7-7.0.

1+.I support

Problem is that T-44MS is relatively well armoured compared to Type-62.Meaning there will be lot of whining about stabilised heatfs at 7.0/7.3.While it is better from balance perspective than Object 906 which was undertiered.

You seem to be forgetting about the T-44-100, that already fills the gap you're describing

I am unfortunately LULZ not a Russian speaker so someone is going to have to translate this test sheet with the round specifications. Good Luck!

+1 at 7.0 either as regular or premium.

this tank feels kind of odd. why would any leftover T-44s be modified but still be using the ZiS-S-53 gun and turret from 20 years ago instead of the current 100mm or 115mm? it just seems redundant seeing as how ubiquitous the T-55 and T-62s would be at this point.

Its easier to modernise old equipment than replacing it... t-44-100 was just prototype that never went into service so replacing the gun for 100mm would probably not be worth it as you can just use the gun for new t55

More variety though. It could also go at BR 6.7 not 7.0 the T-44-100 is at.

+1 from me.

It wasn't meant to bring them up to T-64 standards. Just something to help. Putting a T-54 or T-62 turret would cost more and take longer to do.

It was ballistic table for shell not penetration . I must note ridicuosly high accuracy of this APCR.

It is already in-game however there are some conflicted sources regarding its penetration statistics. If anyone could provide a penetration table from a reliable source I would appreciate your assistance. In the meantime do enjoy this mock-up scale.

10m: 240mm, 100m: 237mm, 500m: 215mm, 1000m: 201, 1500m: 173, 2000m: 147
