Update 25.05.2015:

 • It is now time to start dodging bullets with the arrival of my review on the Ki-43-III Otsu, the little Japanese Fighter that seems to be growing in popularity day by day!

 • Next up: the BF 109 G-10. In the meantime I shall continue to work on the head-on video.

I hope you all have had a pleasant weekend!  :salute:

Little Update:

I have been working to get footage for both the BF 109 G-10 and Spitfire Mk. Vc reviews, unfortunately none of the footage I have recorded thus far has really been worthwhile. Nonetheless, I shall keep trying.

Additionally, I have been trying to get into the 1 vs 1 Normandy Aces duels this weekend. I thought I would finally give one of the duel competitions a try.

On the plus side, here's a little special something:

It is going to take a long while to get that engine injection, but who knows what awaits us!  :salute:

Hi tx141.

Just re-watched the KI-43 video as it’s the next plane I’m researching. Excellent flying by yourself by the way.

It appeared more players were willing to challenge for altitude, was this a “one off” or does going up the tiers tend to produce less furballs?

Cheers Fox

Glad you're back on deck @ last, and I've been looking forward to your covering this little beauty :)

Thank you. :)

Aye she is a sweetie, although I now await the Ki-84 Otsu which should be a monster!

(And then if the Ki-44s ever get added...)

Is there a video of the OPness that is called the Swordfish?

Not yet, one day I may make it happen!  :Ds

Hey Fox,

Thank you, I get the feeling you will enjoy the Ki-43-III. The stock grind is actually quite easy as the plane's stock nature is not too far off the baseline performance of some aircraft at BR 4.0 (i.e. if you down-tier the plane from its BR of 4.3).

To answer your question: this has been the main source of my frustration with the BF 109 G-10 review. I have noted that, in my opinion, despite the increase in Tier, you are just as likely to experience large numbers of furballs. I had four games in a row leading up to recording my review footage where in BR 5.7+ games, players refused to fight above 3000m.

You will however more frequently find individuals who will fight for high altitude with increasing Tier, and these tend to be some of the better players of War Thunder's Arcade mode.

I hope that helps.  :salute:

I am definitely considering reviewing the I-153 in the near future.

Update 07.06.2015:

 • You all asked for it! Here is my review of the BF 109 G-10:

 • Next up, the Spitfire Mk. Vc.
 • I also have a monstrous P-51 Mustang replay which I shall be hopefully recording and uploading this week. It puts perspective on those "high kill" games which can occur every so often.

All the best folks!  :salute:

Update 13.06.2015:

 • Just got back from the Biggin Hill Festival of Flight 2015. What a great day despite the near constant threat of rain! :D
 • Here is my review of the Spitfire Mk. Vc. I initially thought I would struggle to enjoy this plane, but I was so wrong!

 • Next up? P-51 Mustang (the one with 20mm Cannons).

Enjoy the weekend folks!  :salute:

You should give the Firefly F Mk. 1 a shot.

I heard a few people bashing on it while I was climbing through the early tiers of the British tree, but once I actually got used to it that plane it quickly became one of my dependable heavy-hitting fighters, and I still think of it as one of my strongest British fighters despite having access to BR 5 planes.

Thank you for your suggestion. I am currently researching the British Naval Fighter line to unlock at least the first of the Firefly fighters. I have heard a lot of complaints about the Firefly yet I expect it will be heavier Hurricane with more hitting power. Nonetheless, only time will tell...

Update 24.06.2015:

 • We now come to my review of the P-51 Mustang. It is quite a nice aircraft, but I find that unless you are aware of its limitations, you will quickly become over-confident, and that will spell your downfall:

 • The gameplay for the review was taken before the BR change on the 15th June, 2015. I recorded the game a week before the change was even announced and tried to predict the ideal Battle Rating of the plane. In this case, I was right to assume 3.7, and this game has been taken at that BR.
 • Next up? The A6M5 Otsu.

All the best folks!  :salute:

To elaborate on the Mk1 Firefly, while the low ammunition capacity can feel limiting at first, picking your shots at close range like what you did with the Spitfire Mk Vc leads me to usually getting around 2 kills per reload, although it does still necessatate reloading between engagements whenever possible, as well as having a decent crew reload skill + crew training in order to get the reload down to a more reasonable 20 seconds.

To put the feel of the plane in words, I feel like it is a faster, and slightly more manuverable and beefier version of the Spitfire Vc that comes at the cost of ammunition capacity.

You can totally not tell that I'm trying to sell the Firefly Mk1 to you or anything >_>

Also great work with the P51. That plane is fantastic, and you did it extreme justice.

Now I need to experiement with a 600m gun convergence instead of the 300m shotgun I've been using.

I decided to get the Firefly Mk. I fully upgraded last Friday. I must admit, your experiences resonate with mine rather well, although I am inclined to disagree with your comparison with the Spitfire Mk. Vc.

Whilst the Firefly is rather maneuverable (and its ability to perform tight turns with or without combat/landing flaps is astounding!), its weak acceleration by comparison with the Spitfire Mk. Vc means that if your opponent tries to convert the dogfight into a stall fight, you are going to find yourself running out of steam and needing to level out rather quickly. I have found this to be the case against the I-16 Type 27 in particular where if I-16 pilot pushes the dogfight into the vertical after one or two complete turns, the Firefly falls slightly short.

Oh and the ammo capacity...that completely caught me by surprise multiple times!

Still, I need to play around with the plane a lot more until I can make my final conclusions. I find it a rather enjoyable plane, although its acceleration grates on me after a while.

Concerning the P-51 review, thank you. If that video did it just, I wonder what the below video will do for it...  ;)s

Update 05.07.2015:

 • No new review as of yet (I have been playing a lot of Ground Forces recently and will be shifting back to planes by the end of this coming week).
 • To say Thank You for 1,500 subscribers, here is technically my best game to date, featuring the P-51 back in its BR 3.0 days:

 • Expect the A6M5 Otsu review by the end of the week.

All the best folks, and thank you once more.  :salute:

Welcome back! And you're making a Tojo vid? As it happens, so am I!

What's the betting that once again we both take completely different approaches with the plane :)

Thank you.

I believe you also uploaded your take on it today?  I must check it out later this week!

Update 03.08.2015:

 • And here we go, Japan's weird but wonderful little energy fighter, the Ki-44:

 • Next up? The Hurricane Mk. IV.

Thank you for pointing this out. Thus far I have only noticed a change in the P-36G Hawk's flight model. The change is not as severe as I thought as a future video (starring a fellow reviewer) will highlight.

Update 12.08.2015:

 • Time to review the Hurricane Mk. IV (and also reveal that F2As have secret weapons!):

 • Next up? It will be one of either the B-25J-1 or the F2A-3.

Enjoy and all the best folks.  :salute:

Brilliant review on the F-82E.  I know you posted it approx 7 months ago, but I've been gone from the game a bit, and first time seeing it.  The video highlights a few things which I'd begun to appreciate at the time I put it back in the hangar.  I note from video and thread comments that F-82E received a BR drop (was 5.3 last time I played it), and also see that it apparently got a corrected FM.  Looking forward to giving this plane a try again...which I need to do to re-elite the plane.  Heh, one of the annoyances of coming back after a hiatus is that many vehicles have picked up additional research modifications and are therefore no longer "aced".  Which is a bit of a problem for OCD sufferers like myself, lol.

Edit:  Just took the F-82E out a few times.  Wow, it is indeed much improved over what it was about a year ago.  Had some decent battles with the thing, for a change.  I did not, however, use the gunpod after unlocking it.  Significant degradation to speed and climbrate...two attributes which F-82E definitely needs.  And the 6x center-mounted .50's are deadly enough; the extra rounds just seem overkill, not worth giving up the speed/climb.

To anyone who uses the F-82E with gunpod; do you find that mod worth it?

Damnit tx, you made me go and research a plane that I had no idea existed due to your video >_>

Also holy crap the Hurricane mk4 is every bit as fantastic as you made it appear.

I haven't had so much fun playing this game in ages.

Thanks a ton, and as usual I'm looking forwards to your next videos.

Also, the Buffalo video was quite entertaining.

I knew those planes were silly strong for T1, but getting that random David was just......

I love the Mk IV, when you get use to aiming the guns it's a great plane at BR 1.7

Excellent video as usual.

Cheers Fox.

I completely agree with you. To be honest, if the plane was put up a BR or two, it would still be great, I just wish the developers would add the two 7.7mm Machine Guns it had!

Thank you.  :salute:

Thank you Bramborough, and welcome back to the game!

I have to be honest, I have not flown the plane once since reviewing it. To me, it is one of those planes that I will one day come back to, but it just does not capture my interest.

I cannot comment on the usage of the gun-pod as a result, but I would gather it to be a key incentive to play the plane, especially to bring down the nasty Heavy Bombers it can face at its BR.

I shall take that as both an achievement and a compliment! :D

Aye, the Hurricane Mk. IV is a bundle of fun. Now if only it had those two 7.7mm machine guns...

With regards to the Buffalo video: it was an absolute blast filming that. For the purposes of reviewing the plane, I think I will stick to a slightly lower BR however! ;)

Thank you as always matey, and if you enjoyed that Buffalo video, I suggest you take a look below...

Update 21.08.2015:

 • For a while now, some of you have requested I review Attackers and Bomber aircraft with pilot controlled armament. After caving into some peer pressure, we begin with the B-25J-1:

 • Next up? Potentially the SB2C Helldiver.
 • In the background I am currently aiming to start upgrading the BF 109 K-4 for review.

Nice to see it being used to it's potential, love flying that family of aircraft as super-heavy fighters. They can be so much fun. Enjoyed the history portion of the review, too, thanks!  :salute:

p.s.: Very classy, not using AI gunners.
