Maybe TX should do a review of the il-28 and I will rate it

I will add it to the suggestions list, but keep in mind I am a long way off of researching the IL-28 currently.

Review 162 - P-40F-10 Warhawk

Apologies for the slight delay, it has been a manic week of trying to cram in Christmas shopping, writing Christmas cards/letters, and then getting around to properly reviewing this plane.

Nonetheless, here she is!

P-40F-10 Warhawk - Goodbye Allison, Hello Merlin

To vote on which plane I review next (i.e. Spitfire Mk.Vb or A6M3 mod.22Ko), be sure to use this thread.

Polling closes at 1200 GMT 23/12/2018.

Until next time, take care and good luck in the skies. Also, Merry Christmas! :salute:

Well, the vote is in, and by a narrow margin of 9-8 the Spitfire Mk.Vb won! That will be my final review for 2018.

On a side note, anyone else working on the Festive Quest? If so, you will be pleased to know that once I have the FW 190 C, I will be looking to review it as soon as possible!

The poll has closed, and it would appear that by an overwhelming majority you would like me to review the G.55 serie 1.

Well, the good news is that I already have her spaded (thanks to the Christmas toy tasks), so expect a review next weekend! :salute:

Highly requested, and my goodness she was a joy to fly! Even helped me get a couple of the pilot tokens done for the 2018 Festive Quest!

Review 165 - FW 190 C

Apologies for the rather long historical segment on this one, I did my best to cut it down (my original notes led to a 10 minute history section!).

FW 190 C - A Problematic Proposal

Next time I will either be reviewing the M.B.152C1 or the F2A-1 Buffalo - you can vote here.

Is the P-47M worth getting for air AB?

I have a positive K/D ratio with it in AB, despite frequently using it for ground attack; and I'm an average pilot at best. For air-to-air, P-47's are generally best at high altitude, and high alt combat can be somewhat rare in AB.

If you like and do well with the P-47D, then the P-47M is a good choice, even though the competition is stronger at this higher BR.

But first of all you must ask the all-important question before buying a premium aircraft for AB: Does the BR fit your lineup?

I have no experience in flying it so I cannot comment. However, I will add it to the suggested review list.

Review 166 - M.B.152C1

This wraps up the two planes that were available during the Festive Quest 2018 Event. I must admit I found this plane very similar to the IAR-81c (Tier II Battle Rating 2.7 Premium Romanian Fighter in the Italian tech-tree).

M.B.152C1 - Flyer's Bloch

Next time it will be either the Re.2000 serie 1 or the F2A-1 Buffalo - you can vote here.

Review 167 - Re.2001 serie 1

As last week's vote was a 50-50, I thought I would go with personal preference, hence this (as I have come to find) wonderful Italian Fighter.

Re.2001 serie 1 - Cannot Help But Smile

Next time it will be either the SM.91 or the F2A-1 Buffalo - you can vote here.

Review 168 - Whirlwind Mk I

At the special request of my father, I thought I would take a look at Britain's lesser known Heavy Fighter the Westland Whirlwind Mk I.

Whirlwind Mk I - Finding a Role

Next time it will be the SM.91 as per the poll from review 167.

Take care everyone, and if you do see my father in-game, be sure to say hi. He will appreciate it. :salute:

As requested, here is Savoia-Marchetti's long-range, heavily armed heavy fighter which is being followed up by the SM.92 in Update 1.87.

Next time it will be either the I-15 M-22 or the F2A-1 Buffalo - you can cast your vote here.

Review 170 - I-15 M-22

Our first review for Update 1.87 takes us back to one of the numerous variants of the I-15 biplane fighter. Of course it had to be the one with the weakest engine!

I-15 M-22 - Snub Nose Star

Next time it will be either the Ki-61-II or the F2A-1 Buffalo - you can cast your vote here.

Polling closes at 1200 BST 31/03/2019.

Have a lovely week as always folks. :salute:

Hi All,

I hope you are all keeping well.

I appreciate many of you may be wondering why I have stopped making the reviews, bought myself a Playstation 4 (PS4), and then suddenly started making Gran Turismo Sport videos.

In short, back in September 2018 my Dad was diagnosed with bowel cancer. Following treatment, it was confirmed in January 2019 that my Dad's cancer was terminal. He is still with us at home for now, but I know his final hours will eventually draw near.

This has hit my family hard. For me personally, it is the thought of losing not only my father and by correlation one of my closest friends; but also the biggest fan of this channel. Whilst it sounds silly, my Dad has since the beginning always been eager to check out my videos when they have gone live, and to know that one day I will come home from work and not hear him say: "What's your latest video Paul?" is a thought that haunts my mind day-in, day-out.

In trying to continue with everyday life whilst supporting my Dad (and my wider family) through his final days, I have tried to continue making my weekly videos; yet it has become increasingly difficult to remain motivated to do so given the circumstances.

So why the sudden Gran Turismo Sport videos you may ask? Well, this brings my gaming history full circle and in a way is a send-off to my Dad. When I turned 4 my Dad bought the family a Playstation 1 (PS1) and used to spend hours playing it with me. The first game we ever played together was the original Gran Turismo. We continued to follow the Gran Turismo series up to Gran Turismo 4 on the Playstation 2 (PS2), at which point we left it behind for PC gaming.

When I had a chance to play Gran Turismo Sport at EGX 2016, I was so excited by the game that when I got home, I spent hours telling my Dad about it. However when I told him it would be PS4 exclusive, it upset him somewhat as we had both recently committed to re-building our PCs for PC gaming and did not see the value of "buying a PS4 solely for one game".

Now, I have come to realise there is value in buying a PS4 solely for one game. With my Dad's days numbered, Gran Turismo Sport has brought us together despite the emotional turmoil we are going through. Whilst he is currently unable to play the game due to our home set-up (something I am working on, or at least getting our old PS2 back-up and running for some Gran Turismo 4 action!), the videos I have been putting together have been something he has loved watching; and has invoked his memories of us playing the earlier editions of the game on the PS1/PS2.

So for now, I am going to focus on the Gran Turismo Sport videos in the knowledge that if the videos can bring as much joy to him now as he did to me when he used to play with me as a child, then I will have made his final days worth living.

With that, I bid you farewell for now.

Paul "tx141" Walsh

P.S. Dad, if you do accidentally stumble upon this post, know that I am always racing for you.

I'm very sorry for circumstances surrounding your post.  I'm not a religious kinda dude, so I don't have much of that thoughts and prayers stuff for you.  But I can absolutely understand that your priorities currently lay elsewhere, and that your time is in need of being wisely spent at the moment.  I also haven't been in anywhere near the kind of circumstances you describe, so I don't have a lot of advice either.

But, I can tell you how much your channel has helped me.  I've always concentrated on AB air.  It was with the intention of moving up to RB air at some point, however I never made the step-up (or to the side, however you want to say it) as I thoroughly enjoyed AB, and felt there was enough of a learning-curve there to keep my attention.  And that it isn't as simple as "no-skill involved here" mode, as some would of had me believe.  I was late to the party, but started with Long5hot before I realised he wasn't even uploading videos anymore and found your channel through him, pretty sure there was a collab or something once.  And that was that. Any time I want to move onto a new plane, I know I can check in with your channel.  I do hope you eventually return to your reviews, as there will be a pretty significant gap in the market for continuous, up to date and quality Air AB plane reviews, as you're pretty much the last man standing in that department.  Unless Long5hot miraculously comes out of retirement to cover for you.  And as much as I like and watch all of Jengar's reviews, outside of some of the premium aircraft, AB isn't covered as much as I would like.  Your videos, have been invaluable in helping me use what little time I have more efficiently, as the way you explain the abilities and short-comings of the planes help me easily identify the liklihood it will fit with my play-style, and thus whether it's worth my time grinding for it, spading it, or even throwing on a talisman.

As I said, I've always concentrated on AB air, and I don't expect that to change, especially as recently I've become a Dad, and my own free-time is now at an absolute premium, between work, girlfriend, making the dinner, shopping and continuous and seemingly endless baby stuff.  Sometimes I identify a 40 min window for myself sometime in the evening, and don't want to waste it away, painfully spading some random tier 4 Yak for no other reason other than it's there.  I have a wee list of planes that look fun from your reviews (even a few outside of my comfort zone, like the early D0217) that I can spend an evening playing, with the confidence that I will probably enjoy it. I've ticked off a number of them. So having good reviews, AB Air specific, is extremely helpful to me, as I know I don't need to try and translate any of the information you give on in-game plane performance from RBese to ABese, and I'll have a pretty good idea on whether I'll enjoy that plane or not.  Plus I get interesting history pieces as well in a well-paced way.

With that said, take all the time that you need of course.  But know, at least from my point of view, the community here, especially air AB will be a little less active, and a whole lot less informed with your absence, temporary or otherwise should you choose.

Cheers.

Hey All,

Thought I would check back in and let you know I have released a little update video regarding how I am doing, and what is to come in the future.

Hi All,

The below video contains a further update regarding when you can expect a new review. I thought I would be 100% open with regards to why there has been such a delay in releasing a new review.

Thank you for your continued patience and support. I wish you all a Happy Easter. :salute:

Hey Fox!

Sorry, but due to my low activity in War Thunder I could not actually post a response to say I had fixed the issue - turns out I had filtered the spreadsheet and forgot to remove the filter!

Hope you're keeping well! ;)

I am doing well thank you. Good to see you on the forum.

Found the Spitfire RB review very interesting. RB is something I've dabbled with in the past without much luck.

If your looking for video projects for the future maybe an AB to RB convertion tutorial would make a change from aircraft reviews. I know I've found the AB tutorials useful in the past.

For me, yourself and long5hot's posts are the go to source for information and tips.

Stay safe and keep moving forward.

Cheer JTF

Thought this could belong here. My first attempt at a long5hot/tx141 style tutorial, so please be gentle. I'd say that the target audience is intermediate to advanced fighter pilots, but that's obviously up to interpretation. The D-5 and I have a love/hate relationship, so this was a passion project more than anything.
