Haha well, I probably won't take that one for now as I want to concentrate on fighters, but there's definitely room to expand in future to ground attackers & dive bombers. All I know is that I currently see a TBF in the sky and think "FREE KILL - PLZ DON'T DIVE PLZ DON'T DIVE!!"

Well ... so can Dauntless and Su-2s.  Probably better I leave 'em to the dive bomber/attacker series, assuming I'm ever done with pure fighters ;)

What I do want to see are more pilots with a decent basic skill level in AB, which lifts the quality of games for everyone so I'm doing what little I can towards that goal.

My vids are getting a little long, so maybe I should rethink the format of future ones. Show fewer complete battles and concentrate on examples of individual good & bad tactics to make them more concise.

Anyway, I note that the Ki-61-1b is ahead in voting right now, but I'll hold off on starting the next vid for a few days as there's several other planes with similar votecounts - and I need a break as well :)

Really appreciate these videos, I had given up on the 112 flying loaf of bread, but mebbe I will revist them...I just got the 1st Do 117 and it has 0 upgrades...It handles like a walrus on dry land...When you get done with the fighters, mebbe you could look at this one...I have read in the forum that the later ones are great planes, but after taking this one out I question that...Cheers!!!

Haha, well, the plane's superb its just that it faces jets. I'm not at tier 4 Germany and won't be for some time, so unfortunately I can't add it to the list but good suggestion nevertheless!

Also what's with everyone choosing the He112 V5? Do people really want to fly that plane, or are they just trying to make me suffer? If I'm going to do another low tier Axis plane, why can't it be a fun one like the Cr42? </grumble> :)

A5M2-N is great for capping airfields as all floatplanes are. Ironically, they're easier to "skim" or land on land with minimal damage.

Indeed, you can land 'em at any speed you like and you don't need to be gentle either, can just pull a Split S and slam it onto the runway, cap in 3 seconds and be up & off again.

Btw I was thinking I'd remove the early MiG-3 and Ki-61 from the poll as the tactics would be identical to the later variants, the planes being so similar with the main changes being their armament. If you have any objections pls let me know.

I've been having serious problems pitching down in He 51s. Would this be an in-game bug, or a characteristic of the aircraft? Perhaps you have a poke around with it and perhaps shed some light on it...

Its almost certainly a characteristic of the aircraft, caused by too much lift in the wings and/or weight distribution a little too far to the back. The He112V5 has the same problem, and its easily countered by rolling the plane onto its side then using the rudder to point it downwards (ie a Wingover).

I agree, hopefully an RB player will get to work on such a series. You guys do already have the likes of Entak, Baron, Ramjb and others making plenty of vids for RB, so I'm surprised there's such a need.

I was planning to start a series on attackers when I'm done with fighters, though it might be a way off. I have no intention of covering reconnaissance planes, which is what the low tier hydroplanes were. To be honest I don't know why they're in the game. Edited May 4, 2014 by long5hot

the ultimate challenge would be the swordfish.  it is nearly impossible to use in any meaningful way.  put in in T1 and the torpedo is literally useless(no targets). fly it in T2 and you will never reach the target.

 

i only managed to get all the upgrades by flying it only on 4x rp days.

 

the only reason to have it is if there is a ships event where you cripple the bismark and watch the dreadnaught finish it a day later.

Yeah its a sad state of affairs with the Swordfish. IRL it could also carry 8 rockets or 1500lbs of bombs - I guess if those were added they'd have to tier it up ;)

Btw I started making these videos to help people get the most out of planes which I commonly see flown poorly, not to challenge myself with a series of impossible & punishing tasks for the purpose of public entertainment. It could well be headed that way, just depends how much pain I want to go through. Having just flown several hours of He112 V5, right now I've well & truly had my fill and will need to spend some time seal clubbing in a ludicrously OP FOTM plane to make up for it.

Edit: Received a request for the F4F-4, which is not the seal clubber it once was now its facing tougher competition in tier 2, so I've added it to the poll. Edited May 4, 2014 by long5hot
