Tiger driver's vision port in detail

So, besides the (wrong) Modeling of the "Weak Spots" the Tigers main issue is its BR of 5.0. and the too small Maps.

Well, I doubt GJ is gonna lower the BR ( although I hope they will to like 4.0 -4.3, which they could, when the Ausf. E and E/Late comes out) and we can expect more "Larger Maps" in the Future.

tricky?? why they want to Balance everything like world of tanks with a Kind of Tier and battlerating System... thats garbage!

The early tiger should face the 1942 soviet tanks,.. sure the tiger is superior but give the enemies more respawns and Players!

Why they copy how to Balance from world of tanks so much?

Thats the same crap and were running into the same issues, tiger 2 facing an IS-4 to Balance it.. thats bullshitt!!

Give us historical accurate maps/games and let soviet tanks just spawn in much greater numbers... why dont you Show some Kind of innovation?

and Armor is 80mm+100mm (If that was the case IRL)

It would be 100mm + 100mm as the Tiger I uses the Fahrersehklappe 100. The Fahrersehklappe 80 you are thinking about was adapted and modified from the Tiger I and installed on the Brummbär

well if it faces 1942 era T-34s I think it should also see IS-2
That's a tank it faced IRL as well. I'm just wondering how you can get a MM spread like that and make it work and make it fair for both sides.

Part of the problem is that the Tiger faces tanks that were designed to kill it basically all the time...

It is basically immune to lower era T-34s....

Ingame it faces only IS-1, KV-85, T-34-57, T-34-85, SU-122, SU-152....

So yea, the Tiger should be killable by T-34-57s and T-34-85 etc., just not so easily:

Well it's not immune to the T-34/57... Something's wrong here because why would Soviets need the 85 version if the 57 could kill a Tiger from the front (happened to me)? It wasn't like that irl. Something's definitely wrong in the game.

Because tanks are not the only enemy on the battlefield.

57mm HE shells suck badly compared to a 85mm shell.

Interesting read,Have you seen Saving Private Ryan? Cpt.Miller shoots through the drivers hatch of the Tiger!!! Such an epic movie Fail!

Tank crews would sometimes leave those open because things like previous battle damage, cigarette smoke, battlefield debris, etc. could degrade the visual quality of the blocks.

And since were such germanophiles here, ILL let you now this is a IS - 2 122 mm gun glorious soviet testing comrade ))))))))))))).

This shows that the armor-shields (and the armored frame) protecting the driver's visor were quite resistant to fire.

And no hurr-durr-1-shot-weakspot like ingame.

The 57 was a pure high velocity anti-tank gun. The T-34-57 was considered a tank destroyer by the Soviets. Since the 85mm was as good against armor but also had a quite good HE shell it was a better solution to the problem of providing a more capable tank able to do all the jobs a tank needed to do. Soviets really liked their HE shells and favored well-rounded tanks over pure tank destroyers.

I hope it gets fixed along with gun mantlet problems. The other thing I hate is when a bounced shoot on the front still knocks out the driver sometimes BOUNCED shoots!

Driver Port should be closed in the game. Tiger is already put against weapons that are good enough to kill it frontaly, we do not need extra weakspots on it to be "balanced" and TD limiter headlights.

I give time for the devs to fix this till 1.43. If no fix I will post tons of bug reports about these "litle" issues until they gets fixed.

57mm ZiS-4 was scarce at that time, and Russians don't like manufacturing various callibers becouse of F ups during ammunition transport and repairs of the guns.

They sticked to D-10 and D-25, as well as 85mm ZiS-5 cannons, and that would be all for tank weaponry.

it was scarce mostly because they decided they didn't need it.

Nope - it was scarce mostly becouse of shell shatter issue with high velocity gun and high BHA of steel used to produce ammunition.

So they just took higher calliber made the shell slower but heavier and voila - we have standarized cannon.

And enough of the offtopic here.

or it could be that production of the 57 mm was limited because like the 107 mm ZiS-6 the Soviets decided it was unnecessary and shut the projects down after they realized the F-34 could penetrate any enemy armor at over 2000 meters in 1941, and even once the Tiger hit the field the F-34 was still adequate at any normal combat range so production was very limited.

70mm armored glass

Is this thread dead? Can I revive it momentarily - have we established the armoured glass in the viewport of the Tiger is 70mm thick? Because in-game, the glass is currently modelled as being 3mm thick, and considering how large the gap is in the armoured vision port currently, that would explain entirely why it is easy for almost any tank to penetrate the glass when they're close enough to aim reliably at it.

^Source here, on the last couple of frames you can pause it and see that the 'Optics' are 3mm thick, and are also a rather large area on the front of the Tiger (forgive me if this has been mentioned already but I didn't see it anywhere).

Also, the rest of the front of the tank (including the MG port everywhere) is 103mm thick. Just that rather large 'Optics' square is an unrealistic (both in size, and thickness) weakspot.

I get the feeling this upcoming 'armour inspector' feature is going to be very useful in solving DM issues.

As well as the other tool showing off the damage after a penetration. HE blasts will still be wonky, anyway.
