samba_liten 9 Report post Posted May 20, 2014 So you're in a light tank. You've got an auto-cannon that can't penetrate anything and no armour. You are fast. Without the player controlled arty we used to chase in that other game, what is our raison d'etre? The way i see it (and i play only simulator battles) is that our role here is much closer to what light tanks were concieved to do. If i can quote HeavensRejected from another thread; - Military tactics The Four F's: This is one of the military tactics <Link> we've learned in the army which as long as applied correctly works every time. It's rather simple and should make complete sense but as many other tactics it requires permanent adjustments and will get disrupted by enemy interference like being outflanked while flanking an enemy etc. but it tends to be a good basic drill Find: Self-explanatory, find your target/s and find a way to get you there while in cover. Fix: This usually happens by itself if the enemy sees you, otherwise try to stop the enemy from moving by damaging it's tracks, kill his driver or have a teammate take his focus off you. Flank: Get around the target, the best position to engage an enemy tank is from the rear as it's the least armored part and if he notices you he needs a lot more time to turn around to aim at you Finish: Fire away! If you're engaging it's rear you may have time for more then one shot otherwise move so he doesn't get a good aim at you. If for some reason you can't move make sure to angle your tank by pointing one corner towards him (diamond shape) As light tabk drivers we would be concerned with the first f. Of course, this only works if people pay attention to their mini-maps, but perhaps we can politely let them know what we will be doing through the chat. "I'm going to try to find the enemy main force. Please look at your maps. I'll put the map code into chat once i find them." Why should we be doing this? Well, look at the other three f's. If we can find them, and perhaps, with our artillery, or even by them taking the time to all stop and fire at us, fix them, our teams mediums can flank and finish them. A team that manages even some sort of co-ordination is going to beat an unco-ordinated team every time!
Kettenzombie 16 Report post Posted May 20, 2014 (edited) So basically you are just talking about tanks like the Pz. IIc or the T-60, right? In these little buggers you also get to see a lot thinly armoured enemies. You have to be a bit more creative with driving around and finding targets in SB, but I managed to ammorack quite a few Pz (38)t, Pz. IIc and similar stuff in my T-60. You have to hit the rear of their turrets or their engines. Works like a charm. I agree this can get a bit more complicated depending on the map you are playing. Cujo666 134 Report post Posted May 20, 2014 Hide, be very mobile and and call out reds you spot manually to your team (since there's no good implemented spotting system) and call arty in (until it's nerfed due to forum QQ by campers in heavies). Galgothica 4 Report post Posted May 21, 2014 I think in a way WT has made the light tank the Arty/Scout in one. In SB find a nice high point in some good bushes and find and arty the map to hell.
