Having some trouble

I have been only playing in Arcade mode for the most part simply because I haven't mastered even this mode yet.

The biggest problem I have ran into with starting this game is the controls.  Whether its Aircraft or tanks I feel like I'm fighting my keyboard more then the enemy.  This is the army section so I'll focus on the tanks side of things.

First issue is the dang trees after playing WoT for 3 years(where all trees can be run over) I tended to plow straight into them.  This leads to early engine damage before I even get to the action.  Just as I came accustomed to not running into trees I get the Jungle map............well now I got smaller trees that I can run over mixed into larger trees that damages my tank.          Ok ok now I start to understand that so no running into large trees got it!

But, then you add in the drifting gawd the drifting in arcade yeah I know real tanks drift a bit I can accept that.  However, I find nothing more annoying then going into an uncontrolled drift right into a dang tree.(happens enough to make my blood boil)

Well the stuff mentioned is only annoying what really messes my game play up is the controls and inconsistency of.  I press the A or D key 1 of 2 things happen.   Either the tank takes 30s to turn a 1/2 circle or the tank goes into an uncontrolled 360.  In close combat this can make or break a 1 on 1 duel often times leading to my death.  When I press W or S key 1 thing tends to happen a 3-4 second delay.  I don't know if this is a latency issue or a game issue.  I've also noticed that my tanks tend to want to roll forward when I try to stop.  While other players have no trouble stopping on a dime.  I often hit S to stop which violently rocks my tank thus causing me to lose time and lets the enemy either relocate or fire on me first.

So with all this complaining what the heck am I doing wrong!!

Don't play arcade. It really is just not worth it. Play SB because it is as easy as AB but is more fun/realistic.

As for trees, watch out... they'll get ya Edited by Pvt_Pyle_

WoTs is massively unrealistic where WT GF is actually fairly accurate.

As far as trees, yeah lets be honest, even a Caterpillar which much more low end torque usually cannot just push over more than very small trees.  Thinking you going to just push over a tree trunk that is a 1-3 feet in diameter is just plain unrealistic.  Basically you just to unlearn that bad habit quick in WT GF.

As far as drifting, yeah it seems to be a bit much but I am honestly not sure if it is unrealistic.  Keep in mind that in real life, most tanks don't go into off road terrain at anywhere near full speed.  In actuality they are probably only going to drive 15-20 kph tops.  At those speeds, the tanks don't drift.  Also you don't stop 15-40 tons of momentum on a dime.  Finally now that I am reaching tanks that weight 25 tons, I don't find they drift all the much so it is confined mostly to the lighter tanks.

Lastly, consider that tank tracks are about the least precise mode of locomotion so in real life movement is going to be very imprecise, jerky and generally a pain in the butt requiring you to fight the controls more than a bit.

Learn how to manipulate the controls better and avoid trees (look at  the trunks, even small palm trees will damage your tank) like the plague. Tanks drift in real life so use less "control" input, just a tad here and there will easily turn your tank. Learn how to use the drifting you your advantage. When the tank starts an extreme drift just turn into the drift and you'll be fine. Keep playing, the more you play the better you will get at controlling the tank.
