Two minor notes for former WoT players.

Though minor notes, what I am about to tell you is VERY important. In fact, this may mean the difference between your tank being destroyed, or surviving the battle.

1.) If your cannon breech is damaged, there is a strong chance that the very next shot you fire will blow you sky high!

One of the many faults people point to when they consider World of Tanks, is the few modules that WOT's game system takes into consideration when a round strikes a vehicle.  In fact, WoT actually considers about half the number of modules and equipment that WarThunder considers.  Here's the thing.  In WoT, it is impossible for your cannon breech, or cannon itself to be destroyed. Even when you take a minor hit to the gun, it rarely if ever changes anything.  Here however, it's another story. In Ground Forces, it's entirely possible for a round to strike your vehicle, penetrate, and strike your tank's main gun in such a way that it damages the cannon breech. Meaning that when your gunner fires his next shot, rather than the shot going out the barrel, the breech blows off of it and hot gasses and flame burst back into the vehicle. These gasses and flame incinerate the crew, touch off the ammunition, and blow your turret sky high.

Believe it or not, it's possible for vehicles that you'd never expect, to be able to do this.  Case in point is a battle from earlier today. My Panzerkampfwagen IV ausf. F2 versus a KV2.  The KV2 missed his first shot (it went high due to realistic battles), and I returned fire. Now, I couldn't penetrate the turret armor, but I knew I could keep the KV2 busy. One of my shots damaged his cannon's breech. When he had reloaded, he fired another shot. I was rewarded with watching his turret blown off the vehicle, all because the breech had failed.  So, my Ausf. F2 knocked out a VERY powerful heavy vehicle with just a few shots. Without ever fully penetrating his armor.  Stop and think about that a moment.

2.) If your cannon barrel is damaged, then there is an almost certain chance (ie 99%) that your next shot will destroy your vehicle.

Once again, we have to look to the differences between WoT and here, and once again, we see the fact that your gun really can not be destroyed in WoT.  However, here, as with the breech, it's entirely possible for a round to strike your barrel and dent or damage it.  As with the cannon breech, this will more often than not cause your next shot to not leave the barrel, and blow back inside your turret killing your vehicle.  If you're lucky, it will just banana peel the end of your gun. One thing to keep in mind though, if you do get "lucky", is that once your barrel banana peels, that no amount of repair is going to fix that. Even if you DO try to repair it, expect a wait time of 30 minutes or more. You're just better off bailing out of the vehicle and trying again.

This is a) very true and b) the reason why there needs to be a better way ingame to show the status of your own tank. At the moment, the color model for damaged modules is quite bad.

You have the visual signs on the tank. A banana peel is quite noticable

Yes, this is true, but other damage and/or injured crew is not all the time that well visible. Just by red/grey/black color in the small tank siluett window... and that is, in my opinion not enough.

They are working on a better way of showing damage and injuries. I agree with you about crew members.

The cannon can in-fact be destroyed in WoT, but it only prevents the gun from firing or when damaged renders it ridiculously inaccurate. As with all modules(aside from the ammo rack) in WoT repair times are insanely quick by comparison and automatic to the point that you might not even notice it having been destroyed before another round loads.

There number of modules is about the same as while the radiator/transmission/engine, horizontal/vertical rotator and the tracks/suspension are respectively considered only one module in WoT, the Radio and the Viewing Optics are actual modules.

If I don't think I can reliably pen the enemy, I will shoot at his gun repeatedly.  Sometimes it works, sometimes not so much.  Worked to perfection recently on Karelia, I took out my T-80 and encountered an enemy German Sherman.  Hit first shot immobilized me so I just opened up on his cannon... banana peel on the second or third hit.  Oddly enough he did not drive away, he just sat there staring at me.  Once I completed my repairs and was mobile again I drove up next to him and put a round through his ammo rack.  Very satisfying!

Nice change from WoT too, IMO... in WOT your gun breaks you only lose accuracy...  WT you risk blowing yourself up.
