Karelia Spawn Camping

I think this Map needs to be changed to give more routes out of spawn or a least be given a choice of what spawn to choose?

Make the immunity on respawn  last 10 secs longer would be a stop gap quick fix, whilst the wandering spawn sites are being fixed?

 

 Spawn camping is rife and there is no way to out-flank or avoid the camper, after this last update it has got worse somehow ?

(It already was renown for the dubious ( insert your own adjective) tactic of spawn camping the routes out of base before, now it is total blockade),

What has changed to make the line of sight into a respawn point so easy to hit from distance?

If this is how this map is to be played?

 

I think maybe quit to hanger with this map from now on or find a back door!!!!

 

I did not think I would want this but bring on the combinded Arcade Land / Airwarfare as Soon™™ as possible..

carpet bombing may help? a few team mates may become casualties too, but if it resets the spawn campers back to there own spawn it will be worth it.

Lesser of two evils I thinks? Death from an unseen plane above, or death from a person who would camp in the latrine if :?s

there was one in the game?

 

Does anyone else have any better suggestions?

Seem this is rampant in AB mode. It happens in RB but not as much. Easy solution would be to make the map bit larger or put AI controlled anti-tank gun or 2 in the base and place them in such a way that they can only fire on campers.

NE and SE are both bad for spawn camping, but you can easily turn around and head in the other direction out of the spawn, and avoid the "hot" area all together.

 

Also - and I quite enjoy doing this - if you happen to spawn in the SW, with the enemy is at SE, then it's a quick trip across and you can come right up behind all the dirty spawn campers and blast them.

Got to where I just leave when this map is the match.

Almost guaranteed that at least 80% of the teams will be just shooting each other from spawn to spawn.

In 2020, still the worst map in the game. Just can't even stand it. Get a couple kills then go to a real match.

It's not a bad map. It's players playing it badly. The gap is a trap. Something easy people can get fooled into focusing on when it's really not that important.

Yep. Teams get hooked up on it, contain themselves while trying to pad their stats, then lose the game. A few days back I got a 5x multi-kill dropping 2 bombs...

 

I always spawn NW or SW in a three-cap game.

Err...you CAN choose the spawn...didnt get this part. Just click on the spawn you want to use BEFORE spawning...

 

Karelia is EXACTLY one map where i HAVE TO CHANGE SPAWN. I always go to the West part and play "open" space...the EAST is a cramped mess.

Even in West you have some spawn issues...but after you drive away you have different possibilities...either go uphill or to the valley...and a few hills can also be used as cover or firing point...

 

I actually started liking this map a lot...i just avoid "concentrations"...

 Couldnt agree more..its infuriating watching the sheep at the NE spawn just there in a sniping battle with the the other sheep from the SE, leaving the few who spawn at either NW or SW to do all the work at B

 

Another plus is, if you spawn at SW and position yourself just right by those rocks by the spawn exit, you have a clear line of sight into A..can always get a few kills on some of the unsuspecting enemy entering A

I see Karealia a map where new players can have fun and learn that in this game there is a thing called spawn camping. Its great for AB, you can face your opponents very quickly.

I remember my first matches in this map, and I really enjoined it, I still do it, its a great map once you know it. Obviously if you are new to this game you will suffer until you know the map, or realize that you can choose the spawn point.

In my opinion, Karelia should be removed from the rotation entirely above, say, 4.0 or so. It's just not suited for higher BR's, where tank guns become more and more powerful, and therefore, more capable of taking out enemy tanks from further away. It's on my ban list, cycling with Normandy, for a very good reason.

Dont get this. I like Karelia a lot...as long as i play on the WEST i am fine with either side...they play different,are fun and what you do has an impact on the outcome. The EAST side is a mess...but i guess some players like it, no shortage of volunteers for the meat grinder there. Quick action to say the least. Ons of the best places to drop artillery ;) .

I genuinely love the map. I think it's great, besides the spawn camping, but that's somewhat expected in almost any map. (Altho yes, I somewhat participate in spawn camping, due to the fact that if one team doesn't spawn camp, then the other will.)

Karelia is actually still fun even at 7.7. If you don't want to get spawn camped, go to the western spawns, not the ones that lead to the roads that lead along each other.

Karelia is all about not letting yourself get trapped into a turkey shoot, the team that plays the center cap aggresivelly wins. However there are so many potential directions to the center cap and can be attacked from it's not easy to keep it and the tables can be turned quickly. Sitting on the Karelia center cap is one of the thoughest things in War thunder, even if your team controls some part of the map there are still multiple ways the other side can sneak up to you. You find yourself 7 out of 10 frantically turning your turret and still miss what direction they came from. 

 

However that goes both ways. Both teams have excellent spawn camping positions ( i have stopped caring about spawn camping and decided for myself to call it "Denying reinforcements to the enemy" instead) but both also teams have routes to get out of spawn safely and find multiple approaches to the other caps.

 

It is actually, in my humble opinion, one of the most balanced maps as long as players know what the priority is and between players that know, it's an intense fight where the winner is the one that has the best judgement of what approaches their team holds and are the least threat or has the right teammate with him/her to cover multiple approaches between them.

 

Pardon my missspelling and typos i am pissdrunk atm. ;-) the only way to cope with War Thunder atm ;-)

I have never had a problem with this map, in fact it's one of my favorites. you people do know there are back roads don't you?  Every time this map comes up and i start on the N.E. side im the only one who takes the backroad and everyone else takes the death path. you DON"T have to go that way. same with the S.E. corner, people who stop to shot across the canyon are sitting targets and the same for the red team on the other side. amazes me how people always takes the same path when there is another option to go and they refuse to take it.

Its the same mentality that makes 90% of a team go to A in Abandoned Factory...EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. ...like wtfffff. I dont care if its a 3 point domination map or a single cap Conquest map, they all go to die there for some reason.

True that. Every map has more than one way out of spawn point but does seem like many always choose the same rout instead of trying something different. And if your re-spawning in a 2nd or 3rd tank and there's spawn campers waiting for you then don't move, just kill them. Is it a 10 second protection shield we have when we first spawn or is it a little more? That happened to me the other night, I knew they were there waiting and when I spawned in my 2nd tank I didn't move. I just started shooting and they started dying lol

Mountain out of a molehill.  There are lots of ways out of the spawns that have cover.  The issue is that the most direct routes to a cap aren't covered.  If you get killed rushing with no cover directly to a cap, that's on you.

 

I will say that this map is much better for lower tier tanks and it shouldn't be in the rotation above 6.7 or so due to the size of the map and high tier tank lethality.  In fact, I think this map is a ton of fun to play at lower tiers, for many of the reasons mentioned in the posts above.

I like this map, but I always choose to spawn at the western spawn points. The nearest cap points (A or C) are basically a gimme, provided that you're not driving a brick with square wheels, and both then have easy routes up to B. Agreed that B is a death-trap, but hey ho.

 

As for Abandoned Factory, the A cap does seem to be a lemming magnet. I always go for B (maybe I should try C also - hardly anyone goes there). B is usually a guaranteed cap, but usually quite hard to survive in, especially with everyone else on the team at A......

I don't think there's any need to change this map.  I think that those who complain about it need to simply change their tactics.  There are absolutely routes out of spawn that remain under cover.

 

I will say that I don't think this map belongs in high tier rotation, as it's too small.  But for low and some portion of mid-tier, I think it's a gas.

A lot of the newer players don't know that you can change your spawn point hence you get most people heading for the A point in Abandoned Factory, Tunisia, Sinai, etc.

It's not the spawn point as that is otherwise random.

 

Certain spots on the maps are just more alluring. Apparently CQC is what the majority want expecting a handful of others to actually attempt to win the match. Also quite a lot of content creators go to these spots for what I can only guess is pure volume of expected players.

 

Hasn't changed since I started and now I know it never will. I can mainly guess exactly what bat crazy focus point a team will go for as soon as I see the map and version. That is why things like Conquest or close spawn points are disliked as it punishes the pew pew hold w mentality.

I always find that if I forget to pick a spawn point I'll always spawn in Lemming Central which is usually the nearest to A.

You just gotta rush the hill with your team. If they can't figure that out then go out fighting, use the hills next to A to nab a few kills and secure your crew's place in the mead hall of Sovngarde.
