Add a way to Mod sounds like Gun sounds, radio commands, etc...

 Share

As the tittle says, Add a way to Mod sounds like Gun sounds, radio commands, etc... At least user side. It would be fun to replace dull gun/cannon sounds and add your own, or mix and match. eg: Replace the shkas gun sound with the M3 Browning sound, or replace the shvak sound with the Hispano Mk.V sound. Or, add your own radio command recordings. The possibilities are endless.

EDIT: If this ends up getting added to the game, please make it to where you can select 1 plane to have that MG/Cannon sound. Kind of like how you can do this with user skins.

EDIT 2: In response to this post:

you can do it, but atm someone specialized in this domain is doing it. Just try to search for Kriegsteiber's sound mod these days as it should be released. There actually is a sound mod here : http://live.warthunder.com/post/221361/, but it may not be the best. You can mode yourself them, kinda complicated, and you can run after the game, but using aces.exe and selecting "No" when asking for data integrity. Good luck !

This suggestion will allow you to install official and fan made packs with out the pain and hard work of messing with your game's client. Instead, like user skins we have atm, will allow you to install sound packs tank by tank, plane by plane, to allow more freedom of customazation.

Sure.

There are plenty of old games out there that wouldn't be nearly as alive now if it weren't for the massive modding potential they have. Hell, we all know about Gmod, the game built for the sole purpose of being modded! It hardly needs to be said that being able to customize the game to your tastes greatly adds to one's immersion and enjoyment when playing said game. Gaijin knows this already, as shown by the very existence of the CDK.

We can do just about anything to the game with the CDK, except for modifying sound. There are hundreds, if not thousands, of posts on the forums complaining about how engines, cannons, etc. sound too wimpy or share the same sound with others (bombers, I'm looking at you!). These have existed from the game's beginning, and only sometimes do we see changes made. Improved audio may not be a priority for the developers, but for many players, it's high on the list with game balancing. And if time cannot be found to make the changes we want, especially for something as easy as audio, why not just give that ability to the players themselves?

It would be a win-win. More players would stick with this game longer (and maybe even throw more money at it), and we get to make our tanks sound like Gundams! (No seriously, I've already obtained all the necessary files, I just need to be able to plug them in!)

Only balance needs to be taken care of (e.g. so that people don't abuse it by adding "special" sounds. Think of skins that have indicators where the enemy you're aiming at has its vital components; that sort of cheat)

The problem is people tend to abuse moing in online games. The make "lite hax" by altering textures and sounds in a way that gives them an advatage. So youd have to be carefull in what is and isnt modable.

WHO LIKES CAKE!? I DO!

True, but it could be client side like the User skins. Besides, it would be fun for me to mod the Shkas sound on my I-16 and replace it with the M3 Browning. And Mod the ShVAK sound and replace it with the Hispano MK-V. Just to make things more fun :)s

Own radio recordings =  :good:

Changing gun/engine sounds =  :beee:

Why not the gun sounds? Atleast add a way to mix and match them. Like I mentioned earlier: M3 Browning, inplace of  ShKAS sound and HS mk V inplace of ShVAK for my I-16 type 27/28 Just for fun :Ds

I'd kill for it, cut the body in pieces, put it in acids and filter it for a months just to have a chance to download a mod for sounds.

I like many of the sounds ingame, but some others I don't and I've heard them in other places, in great quality.

I know which video you are talking about and he didn't mod the sounds.
He just made a video and changed the sounds in the video to show off how cool it would be if you could mod the sounds in the game.

Here's the video:

And as someone who's made tons of soundmods over the years, I'd love this feature.

Go for it man!
All you need is FRAPS (or something similar), A decent replay and some editing program (movie maker works fine for this).
