you know I've never unintentionally g-loc'd ever since the new updates. I pull as hard as I want on the me 262 and it hardly ever even darkens my screen a bit because the 262 just bleeds speed so easily for its turning capability.

So far I've only been able to G-LOC by diving down to a speed I practically never fly at anyway, and trimming up (I use joystick full real controls so I have these options). And even in the G-LOC I still have control over my plane because well, I use a joystick with full real and I can manipulate the trim for a delayed control effect.

Hi..

In the Aiming video it is mentioned that the lead indicator is accurate only atat 300 m. Beyond that you need to aim ahead of the indicator. Like for 600 m you almost have to aim as much distance ahead as the lead indicator is from the aircraft. I understand that the videos are made some time ago.. Is the situation same now or did the devs change it. Do I still need to aim ahead of the lead indicator more than 300 m? I usually aim a little ahead because of slow speed and bullet drop of my mg/ff in 190..

Thanks,

Andre

Did not fly arcade for a while but ot should still be like it is explained in the tutorial. If you struggle with hitting use tracers until you get a feeling and than switch to the ammo you prefer.

I've received plenty of comments on my other videos asking for my control setup, and quite a few of them showed a basic ignorance of what the various key binds do and how they can improve your flying. In addition to that, I've had requests for guides on attack angles, how to aim in relation to the lead indicator at various ranges, basic defensive maneuvers and the fundamentals of energy fighting.

Some of these have been covered by other people already, but I thought I'd start recording my own thoughts in a few videos in case people find them helpful. If it helps just one player progress away from grasscutting using the mouse only & never looking around, with no understanding of energy or ACMs, then its worth it.

So here are the videos, hopefully more to come...

Part 1 - Control setup
Part 1.1 - Crew Skills & Matchmaking
Part 2 - Introduction to Energy Fighting
Part 3 - Attacking Energy Maneuvers
Part 4 - Defensive Maneuvers
Part 4.1 - How to Aim
Part 4.2 - Avoiding G-LOC
Part 4.3 - The Climbing Spiral
Part 5 - Squad Fighter Tactics
Part 6 - Night Battle Tactics

Also I seriously encourage every new player to the game, or veteran who wants to improve, to read this - http://www.virtualpilots.fi/feature/lento_ohjeet/inpursuit/inpursuit.pdf - as it is an excellent guide on how to survive and improve in online air combat.

You forgot the guide about not crashing into your teammates in RB during take off.

Well, the fact that I & others can perform the spiral climb using mouse/keyboard does show its possible - its just not easy ;)

The "gradual climbing turn" is in fact easier, and its not an evasion so much as a means of deliberately luring an enemy into thinking they have a shot at you and in the process stalling their plane.  Watch how I perform it in the video - its not a continual turn but rather a series of small course adjustments using the mouse interspersed with close observations of the opponent.

I can perform the climbing spiral but while doing it i get shot down.

Dunno why this happens when i m turning with rudder.

It happened when i was doing it against a chaika in my 112v5.

Awesome that I just found this. Watched every video and taken many notes. Time to go into some test flights and learn these new manoeuvres out. Had to bookmark a couple of videos as I know I will be rewatching over the next few days!

Hopefully I can become much better now!

Thanks!

Hi, Long5hot...

As always, you post very nice and useful videos. Thanks a lot for that..!!!

However, some question kept me awake a lot of nights since long ago, fiddling it back and forth, and despite all the information collected around there, I've found some controversial and messed up comments about it:

"Aiming control sensitivity"

Where is the Gaijin official data about this feature??

Some people says this setting has nothing to do with mouse, but it is only for game-pads controls, like PS4's.

Some people says it is the "smoothness of the instructor commanding the airplane", no matter if there is a mouse or a game-pad in the human pilot's hand.

Who has the truth??

Actually, many mouse and keyboard users (like me) did some tests and couldn't find any difference when changing this setting value, hence the doubt.

Thank you again!!

Hope to see more of your videos soon :)

Hey Daktari - its kept you awake at night? We can't have that!!

I wish I could clear it up so you could get some sleep, but unfortunately I can't. There's no official documentation on the feature that I'm aware of, so we're all left guessing as to what it does.  I was sure I noticed a distinct difference in my testing, however a PS4 player was adamant that it was for controllers only and as you said, some other people aren't noticing a difference.  I can't change what I said in the video (youtube doesn't allow vids to be edited, all I could do would be to upload it afresh which certainly isn't worth it for just this feature) ... but then again, if someone minimizes its value as I suggested and nothing changes, no harm's been done. I'm really doubting myself now as to whether what I saw was real or not.  Certainly my kill efficiency was boosted enormously when I made the change, but maybe that was just me shaking the rust off?

Hey Long5hot, thanks for answering so quickly!!

I guess now I can sleep peacefully, don't worry... :)  basically due to your clarification about this subject, I mean, perhaps we could call it an "official uncertainty", right??

Greetings!!

Thanks!!

I'm new to the game (i've been playing for like three weeks now), and i'm really struggling with controls, mouse aim doesn't fit me but i couldn't get relative control to work in a way that it gives an accurate aiming, so i'm constantly changing stuff with not much success, RC is good for flying and maneuvers but mouse aim is really good for hitting targets but i can't fly in 3rd person, i am so used to first.
I come from Arma, and there i had controls that worked this way: big movements with AWSD and small ones with the mouse, i wish i could get something similar on WT

hi

TheElite96 (Posted )

Hi! We'd love it if you introduced yourself, go ahead and do so here if you want to! https://forum.warthunder.com/index.php?/forum/423-welcome-new-recruits-check-in-here/

This is a rather old thread and posting "hi" in it does not really contribute to the discussion.
Thanks mate!

Alas, it's been 3 years since Long5shot last visited. Here's hoping for a birthday comeback! :-)
I am very grateful for the videos mate, sadly I suspect you'll never know...

Well, he visited in March, 2022.... here's hoping he will make another visit in March 2023.
Best regards,

Phil
