The B-17E. B-17E/Late, and B-17G should have different FMs since:

  • E model dimensions
    • Length: 73 ft 9.66 in
    • Height: 19 ft 1 in
    • Span: 103 ft 9.38 in
  • G model dimensions
    • Length: 74 ft 9 inches
    • Height: 19 ft 1 in
    • Span: 103 ft 9 in
  • E has the ventral remote turret
  • E/Late has the ventral Sperry ball turret resulting in a different drag profile
  • G has the powered chin turret and changed tail turret resulting in a different drag profile
  • E models used the R-1820-65 engines
  • E models used the B-2 turbosuperchargers limited to 23,400 rpm
  • G models used the R-1820-97 engines
  • G models used the B-22 turbosuperchargers limited to 26,400 rpm
  • E models are limited to 305 mph IAS when diving with flaps up and cowls closed
  • G models are limited to 270 mph IAS when diving
