F82 feels underwhelming

Is it me or does this aircraft suck.

I grind-ed to get some bombs which is kinda good, you can race ahead and smash one of the bases up.. however in air combat its far too sluggish to make an impact. Trying to track and shoot a moving target at speed is like trying to ram a clam in a parking meter.

 

What's the best way to use this sluggish beast?

It's been said that the F-82 has a poor flight model at the moment, all you can really do is use it to the best of your abilities right now and wait till they fix it.

I've seen it kill some bombers in heavy fighter mode, but it's so incapable at dealing with itself AND it's a big target.

Get Bf-109 K-4 to go head on with you. It makes them look silly if you take one out that way, even if they get you too, because if they were smart they'd just dodge and come at you from any other angle.

I think they need to let it have more armaments..

I am thinking rockets as well as bombs, and mg pods? Just more than two bombs would be good.

It's only around 100kph to slow right now.  Still, 27 games and 17 kills (all player) in worst tier 4 "fighter" is good enough for me.  For pro rage induction, sneak up on a Zero and shred it before he realizes you're too close.

Only if the enemy is dumb enough to do a headon pass, which luckily for F-82 pilots, they are.

OMG, this has to be the first thread in the history of the internet that starts with "Is it just me..." were the answer isn't invariably "Yes, it's just you".  So I must proudly announce that no, it isn't just you. This POS couldn't out fly a kite. I used it as a bomber if that tells you anything. To put that into perspective. I used and enjoyed the severely broken P-38 and Bf-110 before they got fixed. This plane removed my soul and replaced it with a deep blackness that is immeasurable.

Also, can we have two pilots killed before 'Pilot Knocked out' Or does it just kick you out the plane when the 'main' pilot kicks the bucket.

It's an extreme long range prop fighter with two pilots and it came at a time Jets were flying around.     How could it be expected to be anything but a novelty?

I certainly didn't expect it to not be a novelty but FFS, they make you use it to grind the P-80. That is a new level of getting fornicated with an iron stick.

You know, if you roll your eyes, grit your teeth and get through the pain of modding it, and get used to and good with its current capabilities, you will be overjoyed and become a beast when its real FM comes out......

 

And just because it's not the most OP thing in the game doesn't mean it sucks. IMO, when it gets adjusted properly, it will be an average plane.

It has a broken, incomplete flight model and it's only in the game to force people to grind more.

I just equip the 2x 2,000 lb bombs with it and kill pillboxes/tanks, and then jump into a good plane when it inevitably dies.

It currently has a broken flight model. Most players only unlock it to get the American jets. 

You can wait for it to be fixed or something.

At the moment, it seems like it's only there to make players grind and rage more.

On the other hand, I've seen it as a "late-game bomber-interceptor".

It has a bad rate of climb and things but once at bomber altitude, the twin mustang smashes anything in it's way.

Then again, if something gets behind it, you're screwed.

The F-82 is bad since it has a broken flight model, tends to catch on fire from the slightest attack.

I took the F-82 for a spin and went bomber hunting once. I was chasing a damaged B-24when suddenly, it turned. I decided to follow it since i thought I could stay on his 6 (I got his tail gunner killed). As I turned, I realized that a damaged B24 was out turning me. My flaps were on combat and I was turning the plane as best as I could. I somehow entered a stall, plummeted about one thousand metres, and an FW190 shot me down.

Yeah, bad plane altogether.

No, it sucks because it's the worst Tier IV plane the US has and I'd go even as far to say it's the worst of the Tier III's as well.    I can't imagine trying to grind that thing and It went straight to the hangar so I could start researching the P-80A.  

 

The bonus experience (for only the P-80A) isn't worth the headaches in fighting with one arm tied behind my back and trying to unlock its modules.
