Yak-3 (VK-107A)

This may have been suggested before, but I think it would be good to see the Yak-3 with the VK-107A engine (the same engine as the Yak-9U) in War Thunder. It would fit in well as an era 4 fighter with a BR of around 6, or as a 1945 plane if historical matchmaking is ever implemented.

It was basically an all-metal Yak-3, visually similar to the Yak-9P we already have in the game. The prototype acheived 720km/h at around 6000m altitude, with the production models being slightly slower. It climbed faster, turned tighter, had more fuel capacity and heavier armament (2/3 x B-20 with 120rpg) than the standard Yak-3.

Power: 1500hp

Max speed at SL: 611kph

Max speed: 720kph

at altitude of: 5750m

Climb to 5000m: 3.9 minutes

Service ceiling: 11800m

Turn time: 18s

Armament: 2 or 3 B-20 20mm cannon with 120 rpg

More info can be found here: http://mig3.sovietwarplanes.com/yak3/yak3vk107/yak3vk107.html

There were very few models of this plane produced during the war, but still more than the Ta-152, He-162, I-185, J7W1, R2Y2, Ho-229 etc. It does not seem unreasonable to have this plane in the game considering that we already have these.

I know adding new planes is not, and should not, be a priority for the developers right now, but it would be nice to have this one at some point in the future I think.

As a premium, sure.

78 produced as a service design.  Issued to units.  Saw front-line combat.

Why a premium?

Give it a sensible battle rating and I'm all for it.

EDIT: Maybe being made entirely of metal means it won't rip its wings off quite as easily (the main reason I don't fly the Yaks very often is because of the same reason I don't fly Spitfires: their rather annoying tendency to rip their wings off).

Well, yes, I want.

An ask, Yak-9P actually in-game have VK107 engine, right?

Fahrenheit_UK why you steal my thunder :(*** i wanted to suggest this plane but i am lazy.      Thanks though :D

Anyways there is a reason i am bumping this!!!

Seems like a good place to mention that although this suggestion wasn't officially passed to development, apparently Gaijin was going to adding it Soon™, if you followed Nabutso at all you probably would have known months ago he was working on estimating realistic data for it since like October of last year, so i think people at Gaijin already had it in their plans eventually.

2) Any high tier (5.3-6.3) Russian prop fighters coming soon?

2. Yes. I'm not sure about 1.49, but yak-3 with VK-107 will be soon. (-Lassar)

So for everybody freaking out this is going to be a tier 3 plane, its specifically being added to help high tier 4 Russia, so stop freaking out already  :Ps

Personally I'm very happy about this, i do wonder if they are going to give it prototype or production model performance though, as the prototype was a shockingly fast plane at 6km (720kph) vs a slightly more normal 700kph on production models at the same altitude.  Fahrenheit_UK listed the prototype performance in his suggestion

GOOD!  It's a Russian fighter which should have a sensible BR from the start for a change!

Now all that remains to be seen is what kind of FM it'll have...
