Hidden playable planes: the complete list

I've noticed many topics on the matter, but they are all incomplete, and I wanted to make the ultimate one, where I try to make a list of all playable hidden planes in WT (that means, excluding Ju52, C47 and so forth).

The equivalent list for ground vehicles can be found here http://forum.warthunder.com/index.php?/topic/262140-hidden-playable-tanks-the-complete-list/

The equivalent ships list can be found here https://forum.warthunder.com/index.php?/topic/413318-hidden-playable-ships-the-complete-list/

FAQ

1. What is considered a "hidden" plane?

A hidden plane is a plane which can be found in the regular tree or in the premium section, but is visible only to those who already own it.

2. How does a plane become hidden?

Many planes that were originally part of the regular tech trees were removed because they were redundant (e.g. SM.79bis 1942), too bad even for a 1.0 BR (e.g. Po-2) or for other reasons. Others may be added in-game as hidden premiums from the very beginning (e.g. Hurricane Mk.I/L FAA M).

3. How do I know if a plane I own is now hidden?

I'm trying to keep this list updated, but some planes might become hidden with upcoming updates. If you want to check if one of your planes became hidden recently, just create a new account and look for said plane in the tech trees. If you don't see it, it became hidden for new players and those who don't already own it.

4. I've noticed a plane in game, yet I can't find it in the tech tree, nor is it included in this list, what should I do?

Just comment here (if possible with a screenshot of the place where the aircraft should be in the tech tree) and I'll add that plane to the list.

5. How do I get one of those planes?

Most of them are now obtainable through events and challenges, or by buying them on the online store. They might become researchable (e.g. La-174) or purchasable with in-game premium currency (e.g. german Sherman tank) just for a couple of days. Just keep an eye on the news section of the forum. Some of them however are now history and will never come back: they will remain only in the accounts of those who started playing early and got to research and buy them.

There are currently   72   hidden playable planes

Germany

Italian planes in the german tech tree. These planes were researchable in the regular german tech tree before Italy was separated as an indipendent nation in War Thunder with patch 1.69 Regia Aeronautica. Identical counterparts of these planes were added to the italian tech tree1, while the original ones remained in the german tech tree, but were hidden for players who didn't already research and buy them before may 25th of 2017.

The S.M.79 serie 4 and S.M.79 bis/N were hidden in the early stages of the game, and were not reproduced in the new italian tech tree. They are therefore the rarest planes of the above list.

Great Britain

Soviet Union

United States

Japan

Italy

France

Sweden

HERE is a spreadsheet with the complete tech trees of War Thunder.

If you have any more planes that you know of, please write them below and I will add them. I'll try to keep this updated in case some of the above become visibile again or more hidden planes are added.

You got it for owning 2 packs. The He-112 also came with it.

This is how it was done on PS4 anyhow.

I can explain what happened to most of the sb2ms the yers and the spaviaros, they were removed in 1.37 (idk why however I will keep looking)

It was because there was too many almost identical aircraft to research.

When reserves count was limited to 3, some of them became hidden. (I had no idea I-15bis is hidden, probably was hidden with this ocasion too)

Gladiators were in the beginning reserves in UK tree, so when they got replaced, only one remained available.

D.521, because in game it is reskinned copy of D.520, while IRL it is completly different aircraft. Probably will be back when reworked.

Po-2 because it turned out it is too bad for this game D:

La-174 is limited avaiability plane, that was to be researched in regular tech tree after La-15.

Tu-2 was CB gift for air forces. People were also getting it when purchasing some special packs.

Soviet Spitfire, P-39N-0 (Pokryshkin), P-39Q-15 Airacobra, P-63C-5 are AFAIK limited availability premiums.

XF5F Skyrocket, A-26C-45, DB-7, Boston Mk.I, I-301, P-63A-10, TB-3M-17-32 were to be obtained in some special events, for completing tasks.

A-26C-45DT was some kind of special aircraft for WT launch on PS4. Don't know details, but unlike A-26C-45, IT HAS ROCKETS D:

The PS4 A-26C-45DT is still available on PSN store, it wasn't just a special release for the game. You can buy it with $19 on PSN (BTW, only for PS4 players):

I got 16 out of the 38 of them through events (or, in the case of the He51, Nimrod and Ki10 by joining in 2013). I really hope they'll put more of those out for more players to enjoy. It's a shame that only a handful of people get to play the A-26 for example. Edited by EdwinVonBoxberg

We've got A-26s coming in the full release tree at least :D
