Actor Christopher Lee (Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, James Bond) served in RAF during WW2!

  • Technical Moderator

Just discovered actor Christopher Lee was very involved in WW2 either in ground forces or later in RAF for support, but illness kept him from too much front line action.

(Boarder line Off topic, but it was is RAF service that made me put him here)

He is best remembered in film as  Francisco Scaramanga in the James Bond film The Man with the Golden Gun (1974), Saruman in The Lord of the Rings film trilogy (2001–2003) and The Hobbit film trilogy (2012–2014), and Count Dooku in the final two films of the Star Wars prequel trilogy (2002 and 2005)

And he even played Nazi Kreigsmarine Captain Wolfgang von Kleinschmidt in "1941"!

He is 93!!

UPDATE EDIT: Mr. Lee passed away on June 7th, 2015.  RIP and Thank you.

The peak of a stereotypical British gentleman and one of the most admirable actors in the world in my fair opinion.

He also enjoys Metal Music of all kinds as well. If I remember right, he even did a Metal album.

The big accomplishments of his acting career came long before later blockbusters like LotR and Star Wars.

And yes, he's one of the best actors of all time.

Death has get the actor that could play/voice him the best

PIPPIN: I didn't think it would end this way.

GANDALF: End? No, the journey doesn't end here. Death is just another path, one that we all must take. The grey rain-curtain of this world rolls back, and all turns to silver glass, and then you see it.

PIPPIN: What? Gandalf? See what?

GANDALF: White shores, and beyond, a far green country under a swift sunrise.
