Tynchal 4 Report post Posted June 23, 2015 (edited) Rockford is very well known among WWII reenactment groups since it is the largest WWII reenactment event in the nation (2nd largest in the world, the largest is somewhere in Russia). Probably the 2nd largest event in the country is this D Day event in Ohio http://www.ddayohio.us/schedule.htm . My son is in the British local Coldstream Guard. WWII reenactors have a forum to link up with. http://ww2reenactors.proboards.com/ Rockford, IL is well worth a trip to see the static displays; occasional firing of a 60mm mortar (blanks); several tanks and artillery pieces that take part and fire blank charges in the major battle held on Sat & Sun. The Midway Museum Village is turned into a French town and some chillingly accurate skirmishes take place throughout the weekend.
