aspman 680 Report post Posted July 3, 2015 Not really a historical article but amusing and on topic with WT http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/blogs-news-from-elsewhere-33381772 Police in northern Germany have seized a World War Two tank which was being kept in a pensioner's cellar. He had a AAA as well. They look in great condition.

Flyntlocke 741 Report post Posted July 3, 2015 (edited) That's a serious cellar to be able to store a Panther and a towed 88. He should have sold both to collectors. Serious dinero for WWII German tanks and equipment. He could have been rolling in Euros rather than facing criminal charges. *edit* here's a video from the confiscation.https://www.ndr.de/fernsehen/sendungen/schleswig-holstein_magazin/Privatmann-lagert-Panzer-im-Keller,shmag34368.html *edit2* ^Odd this fixed link doesn't work for me (from the US), but the one below does? They look identical except that the link command shortens what you see below.. https://www.ndr.de/fernsehen/sendungen/schleswig-holstein_magazin/Privatmann-lagert-Panzer-im-Keller,shmag34368.html Edited July 4, 2015 by Flyntlocke fix link
Technical Moderator Pony51 6,572 Report post Posted July 4, 2015 Looks like touchy power grabbing prosecutors. Confiscate first, ask questions later. I truly hope owner get fully compensated if not keep them, and become museum items. Amazing they where almost unknown for 70 years! PHClostermann 39 Report post Posted July 4, 2015 His lawyer claims everything taken was demilitarized and registered. It all was in working condition but safe, As far as I can tell with German laws they've illegally confiscated his memorabilia For god knows what reason. I hope this guy gets his stuff back because This is just infuriating that it's even happening. Hope that lawyer whoops the local magistrates butt and sues them to hell and back for illegally confiscating things if they were safe.
