Conclusion:

The Ju 88 A-4 in-game is currently incorrect in the following ways:

1.) Ju 88 A-4 in-game is equipped with erroneous and/or missing bomb racks such as the incorrect ETC 250/IV, missing Schlosslafette 500/1000 XI from the starboard inner wing or the missing ETC 500 IX under the outer wings

2.) Ju 88 A-4 in-game has missing common bomb payloads such as the 384 x 2 kg, 18 x 50 kg, 6 x 250 kg, 1 x 1,800 kg, 4 x 500 kg, 2 x 500 kg + 4 x 250 kg, 2 x 1,000 kg, 2 x 1,400 kg, 2 x 1,000 kg + 2 x 250 kg,  2 x 1,000 kg + 2 x 500 kg, 28 x 50 kg + 6 x 250 kg, 10 x 50 kg + 6 x 250 kg,  10 x 50 kg + 1 x 500 kg, 10 x 50 kg + 1 x 1,000 kg, 1 x 1,400 kg, & 2 x Torpedo

3.) Aircraft in-game is missing larger bomb types including the 1,400 kg & 1,800 kg bombs

4.) Aircraft's maximum bombload of 3,000 kg is missing in-game

5.) Aircraft in-game is missing provisions for the mounting of 16 x 50 kg bombs on external  4 x ER 4 ETC 50 racks for a grand total of 44 x 50 kg bombs (28 x 50 kg internal + 16 x 50 kg external)

6.) Aircraft in-game is missing 1 x 1,000 kg + 2 x 250 kg or 2 x 500 kg + 2 x 250 kg payloads

7.) Missing the option to mount 2 x torpedoes on PVC 1006b wing racks as the Ju 88 A-4/Torp

8.) In-game defensive weapons have incorrect blind spots and weapon traverse arcs

9.) Missing lower nose bombardier weapon such as MG FF/M, MG 131, or MG 81 in-game

10.) Cockpit side 'Donut' mountings missing MG 15 weapons in-game

11.) Aircraft in-game missing the ability to unlock (upgrade) the B-Stand's MG 81s to MG 131s

12.) Underperforming top speed of under 400 km/h in-game does not correspond with the historical top speed of this aircraft

13.) Historical top speed of 510 km/h without internal bombload and without external bomb racks cannot be achieved in-game as aircraft FM is incorrectly too slow

14.) Historical top speed of 470 - 475 km/h at 5,300 meters with empty external racks cannot be achieved in-game as aircraft FM is incorrectly too slow

15.) Historical top speed of 433 km/h at 4,500 meters in maximum loaded condition (14,000 kg) including maximum 3,000 kg bombload & 1,220 l of fuel cannot be achieved in-game as the aircraft FM is incorrectly too slow and aircraft lacks its maximum bomb load in-game

16.) In-game climb rate with and without bombs is not correct

17.) Stuvi 5 dive-bombing sight (which is important now that the bombing crosshairs have been removed from the game in RB) is missing from the craft's cockpit in-game

18.) Incorrect dive brake activation speed

19.) Incorrect never exceed speed of 641 km/h instead of 675 km/h

20.) Aircraft in-game missing the ability to equip with Waffenbehalter 81

21.) Aircraft in-game missing the ability to equip with RATO rocket units

100% to TT33a for his outstanding job finding all the stuff! :salute:

This aircraft deserves historical accuracy. It's one of the most famous planes and many people are possibly starting out for a single reason playing WT = Ju-88

I remember that it was one my first and one of the most important goals too. After that, Me 111's and after that naturally the DO 217*s which were completely unknown to me before i started playing the game. I still remember it, when i first got my Ju-88 researched, it was a HUGE disappointment. It has improved a lot from those days yes, but it is definitely not performing as it was really capable and like these notifications say quite clearly, A LOT OF STUFF is completely missing/non optional,-and/or simply modelled incorrectly

This is not the only German bomber missing stuff. This is not an "accident". This is for purpose and deliberate, which is a shame. This plane with all field modifications, should be able to engage a much wider BR-range opponents. The current low BR (which is good), gives the wrong impression about it's compatibility. IMHO it's current state is frankly an insult to this great aircraft, and definitely not performing as it should. We do not need 5 more different Ju-88 variants. We NEED ALL options for field modifications for this plane A-4 first, thank you. Same goes for all German bombers!

Again i must say the huge disappointment, when waiting for a new German bomber for about one year, you give us the Condor... And of course, the worst possible s*** variant out of all possible variants... Now you put out the Do-17 for us, and of course the same thing... You expect us to jump and cheer for these buckets??? Really?

TERRIBLY ANNOYING!

*In Soviet accent*

No, no, no, tovarish. How is in game is working. Stalin himself flew mighty beast in war. Stalin never wrong. Is working as intended. Thread locked.

I really hope you are not received like that. They said pretty much the same thing (what is above) about the JU-87's air brakes; god what a Fu** up on their end. Also said the same thing about the Maus.

:salute:

You probably noticed the 50kg bomb load was corrected from 20 to 28 count.  That was the only bug report I was able to get though.   :(s

With this new fresh bug set and some rumors I am hearing hopefully something will be done with 88!

I guess so.

I bet that TT33a could make a bug report and just link this forum for his sources and it would get accepted!

:good:
Good work compiling all this. I think you need 1 thing though, which is a list of what books and what planes you sourced these photos and book data from. Gaijin needs the book sources to verify they're all correct, as the unfortunate thing is that there's a massive amount of misinformation spread by unreliable historians over the course of 70 years. I don't doubt you've got these correct, but it's just their standard procedure (additionally they might also call for a source of what plane a photo is of, as closeups of individual parts are harder to verify as belonging to the correct variant.)

I wish I had the money and time to gather books and such for this kind of research.  :salute:

  • 2 months later...
I'm entering Tier 3 and here's my current lineup:

Bf109 F-4 (will soon replace with G2/trop)
Fw-190 A-5 (will soon unlock rockets for this thing)
Ju-88 (best damn medium bomber I have, since it can dive-bomb and has a bombsight for RB, fully spaded, got a free talisman for it)
Bf110 (honestly better than the Do217J/N types that follow it for simple maneuverability and bomb load, also got a free talisman for it)
Fw-190 A-4 (fully spaded)
Hs-129 B2 (with the 30mm gun added underneath with HVAP-T ammo. Best ground attack plane ever made, current record with it is 16 tank kills in one match with it)

The fact that the Ju88 is missing certain defensive weapons and bombloads is really irritating. Yes, I would want to see:

- RATO units added to underside of wings to assist takeoff with heavy bombloads (or purposely equip but use them for a rapid getaway after dropping payload)
- 2 torpedoes to murder aircraft carriers with
- 2 1800kg bombs to murder aircraft carriers with
- 2 1000kg and 2 500kg for slaughtering tank columns/bases with ease
- its proper defensive armament

I'm definitely keeping this thing until getting the Do217E. From what I hear it is also a part-time dive-bomber? Considering I've been able to shoot down fighters with the defensive guns on the 217J, plus the much better bombload, I think it'll be great to have.
