Converting to Steam

I'm not a new WT player; been playing for a couple of years now.  But I'd like to access WT via Steam like all the other games I play.

- Is it as simple as just downloading WT again on Steam and going from there?

- My WT & Steam username/passwords are different; does this matter?

- Once I finish downloading WT on Steam and log in there with original WT username/password, all my stuff (planes, titles/achievements, etc) will still be there...right?

- Do I need to go back and delete the original WT folder afterward?  Or is there a reason why I should leave it alone?

It's just as simple as downloading game from Steam. remove WarThunder first then download it from Steam. log in with the same account as you do right now. Remember, Steam is just an overlay for WT. doesn't change anything.

On the other hand, if you're not averse to getting into the Steam folders, you could just move your WT files into Steam with the path: (C:) > Program Files (x86) (assuming you're using a 64 bit OS) > Steam > SteamApps > common  - Not sure about the path on a 32 bit OS, though.

like it has been mentioned by the other players you can either just download the game on Steam

or copy your existing game folder over to the ..\SteamApps\common\  folder (which will save you

a great deal on downloading the game ;) - you just need to make sure the game folder is named

correctly (..\War Thunder\  because on some older installs there is no space between War and

Thunder)

different Steam and WT accounts don't matter you just need to make sure to log into the game with

your War Thunder / Gaijin account (and if you've saved your login details on the login page in WT

you wont see a difference anyway - they should still be there)

you wont have to delete the 'standalone client' - personally i would keep it (and also keep it up to

date) to always have a working copy or test copy just in case ;) if you experience any problems in

the Steam client you may want to start the standalone client to see if the problem is related to Steam

(which shouldn't happen but you never know ^^) but if you dont experience any issues or you are

running low on free disk space you may ofc delete the separate standalone client - since the clients

are basically the same anyway you may even start the client installed on Steam without Steam ;)
