Want the father of the leo 2 in game? (Only the 1969 proto. Note that the new cutoff date is 1970, any vehicle of that year or after is not accepted, which is why this thread is still open.)

IDK why they would't know (besides maybe for "balance" reasons) as they are the ones choosing to fill-out their own national tree faster than any of the others :vanga: :dntknw:

Tree organization wise, it's pretty obvious: T-10M (BR 8.0) ~> IS-7/Obj. 770 (8.3/8.5-7) ~> Obj. 277/278 (8.7/9.0) ~> Obj. 279 (9.0 or 9.3)

I'm expecting it to be an event tank.

Well they said that that was the most likely thing they would do. That would leave something like the Object 277 for the main tree.

Object 770 and Object 278 (both being more prototype than production ready*) would make more sense.

*IS-7

Well it IS impervious to the German 12.8 cm gun, you know the main gun of the Maus... granted if Gaijin added a 9.0 BR to Ground Forces then ya great this could go there, no questions asked and can live with the ATGM's, but not a BR lower then that 9. Then we could also add the T-64 (maybe...) at the same BR, but again both of these are a major power creep and many similar nations don't have comparable unless you start looking designs from the 1970's.

And what if they add E-100 mit 1.5cm KwK 44 L/39?

Its gun still can't penetrate the IS-7, so it does not really change the situation.

I would imagine that a German 150mm cannon as long the current 128mm ingame could at least pen the side and rear hull armor (100-150mm thick):

Now if only we could have gameplay where players often snipe and pierce tank roofs from 3km away......

Regardless, Germany and it's Cold War allies (like US, Japan, & France) using the L7A3 would still have the HEAT-FS and APFSDS shells to pen though any Russian heavy.

The current 128mm actually has a greater chance if penning just about anywhere on the IS-7, because it has better penetration.

I'll go ahead and believe that ;)

Actually looking at the chart, Object 277 and 770 could be of similar difference as the STB-1/2 and Type 74 so one of them could well fit being a prize/event/special vehicle (followed by Obj. 278 and 279 in the stock tree).

Are there any major differences between 277 and 770 to warrant both of them?

Objekt 770 seems to be 300-350kg lighter (a tad faster?), have 10km more range, and has 3mm more turret armor at it's weakest point.

Unfortunately, many details are missing on the chart, but I'd say it's probably like an "Object 277M".

Another little hint the 'object number': 770, which implies if fits along the 700 development series and might incorporate some technologies from the T-10 (Object 730). ;)

I'll do some more digging tonight, but that's all I could extract from the chart.

Well there is a suggestion for it and the first paragraph mentions the differences between the two

"The Obiekt 770 was developed in 1957. The tank was armed with a 130mm gun with dual axis stabilisation and an autoloader system. The tank resembled the Obiekt 277 but featured several major design characteristics including a modified hull, a new suspension system with six large road wheels per side, a hydro-mechanical transmission system and was powered by a newly developed V-10 diesel engine developing 1000hp. The Obiekt 770 was field trialled but did not enter service with the Soviet Army."

They already added ATGM tanks that can pen every vehicle in the game from any range and the missiles are free. I don't see why this stuff can't be added now.

Mobility for one.

They need to add other nations vehicles to counter this or it won't be added and till then you'll only get reasons not to add this because of favoritism

also they need to solve many issues with the game before composite armor tanks are added

Mobility, cannon (and the lack of actual documentation for penetration), and generally obvious power-creeping.
