Hello!

As Soviets need a powerfull SPAA, I suggested this. Enjoy!

History: The 8-ton YaG-10, built at the Yaroslavl state motor vehicle plant (»YaG« or »YaGAZ«) from 1931 on, was for long the heaviest truck of the Soviet Union.

Not surprising for the time when domestic truck production was just starting, it partly had to rely on foreign technology.
The 96hp. Herkules YXC engine was imported from the U.S. and the rear suspension was copied from the ingenious British WD construction giving the new truck an excellent performance,
Production of the YaG-10 ended in 1940 with a total of just 333 vehicles, some of them used as base for the 76mm 3-K Model 1931 AA gun, out of which 61 conversions were made.

Placement: Possibly tier 3, due to the powerfull gun. Main tech tree, of course. Sides should be in dropped position (they could drop down), to enable Yag to defend itself against tanks (or go durr hurr tank destroyer mode).

Here is where things get complicated. I wasnt able to find ANY data about Yag-10 truck. The problem is that nobody cared about it during the war and so it became one out of milions, even billions of trucks. If someone has data, please post it here. I am sure Gaijin can find some data in the development stage (if this suggestion gets there). I managed to find some data about the gun:

76-mm gun 3-K

Shell
76.2 × 558 mm. R

Caliber
76.2 mm (3 in)

Elevation
-3° to 82°

Traverse
360°

Rate of fire
10-20 rounds per minute

Muzzle velocity
815 m/s

Depending on what sort of BR it is given, it could be slightly OP, being a high-ish velocity 76mm gun.

If im not mistaken, this is what the S-54 was based off of (the "long 76" that was trialled on the T-34). Surely some compromise is in order somewhere.

Not sure if want.

i say this when the germans bring out their dozens of 88mm flak aa gun carriers and ill say it here too, these large caliber aa guns were made to be deployed together in large groups, typically with the assistance of spotting and rangefinding teams and their gun directing/course-predicting equipment to help the crews aim at high-altitude enemy aircraft properly.

unless ground forces mechanics radically change to enable a player to control a small group of such trucks and co-ordinate their fire with some degree of aim assistance to simulate gun director equipment, its no good.

a single one of these trucks, as mechanics currently are, will be nearly as hopeless at anti-aircraft use as any ordinary tank of the same caliber making hail-mary shots into the sky hoping for a miracle.

I do support this BUT I think we need the german SPAA with 88mm first!

I'm inclined to say premium for this one, given the low production.  Gun would be very powerful at Tier II, vehicle itself hopelessly bad at Tier III.  Not sure what to do with it.  I can't imagine driving such a huge truck with a huge gun on it and such a puny engine off road at more than 5mph.  A lot of the stupider arcade maps that are all 50 degree slopes would make this unusable.

I know there's a halftrack or two that mounted 88mm flak guns, but I'm fairly certain they were intended for ground support with little to no anti-aircraft abilities.

As for this vehicle, go ahead and add it, but its a 76mm cannon with a 3 to 6 second reload rate.  I can't imagine anyone actually using it as an anti-aircraft gun.

I think as far as useable anti-aircraft weapons go, one of the 2x or 4x 14.5mm machinegun modified APCs would be the way to go.

Isn't this already confirmed for 1.67 as the 29-K?

29-K: Reach the Sky

The 29-K is a Soviet self-propelled anti-aircraft vehicle created by mounting a 76-mm 3-K anti-aircraft gun on the reinforced base of a YaG-10 truck. In the mid-1930s, the relentless progress in aviation technology resulted in a need to protect mechanized columns against air assaults. The simplest solution was to install an anti-aircraft gun on a truck base, which resulted in an effective and inexpensive cover vehicle.

The 29-K is a Soviet self-propelled anti-aircraft vehicle created by mounting a 76-mm 3-K anti-aircraft gun on the reinforced base of a YaG-10 truck. In 1933, the Soviet Union launched their efforts to mount high-caliber anti-aircraft artillery on a self-propelled chassis. While their attempts to fit a 76-mm long-barreled gun on a T-26 tank chassis ultimately ended in failure, the project to mount anti-aircraft guns on the base of the triaxial YaG-10 truck met with unalloyed success. Between 1935 and 1937, 61 units of the new SPAAG were produced under the designation 29-K.

Before it could be fitted with guns, the YaG-10 truck had to undergo a minor upgrade: the base was reinforced, four stabilizing legs with jacks were added to the underside, and the sides were replaced with semi-rounded armor plates that could be reclined in combat to create additional space for the crew to operate.

29-Ks were put into service in the Red Army in the initial stage of the Second World War.

High-caliber anti-aircraft artillery first appeared in War Thunder in the form of the German self-propelled 8.8 cm Flak 37 auf Sd.Kfz.9, and now the USSR also has its own medium-altitude anti-aircraft gun. Of course, in practice, hefty-caliber SPAAGs like this will primarily play an anti-tank role in the game. Although the staid, heavy-duty YaG-10 won't be able to match its lighter partners such as the GAZ-AAA or ZIS-12 for speed, its stunning ability to carry up to 10 tons in weight makes it capable of bearing artillery that is much heavier and more powerful.

The 3-K 76-mm semi-automatic anti-aircraft gun offers exceptional firing range (shells reached altitudes of 9.5 km), good ballistic trajectory, and an extremely high rate of fire, which may prove decisive in the fast-changing conditions on the battlefield. Also one of the most important features of the AA gun is its tremendous firepower - a 76mm shell requires high velocity which is provided by a powerful  3-K cannon. And its firepower against ground target is known for its remarkable armour-piercing qualities which are similar to those of the German 75mm guns.

When attacking enemy armored vehicles, it's best to fire first from a covered or concealed position on the map, as the 29-K will be sluggish getting away from return fire.

The 29-K high-caliber SPAAG will soon be a new addition to the Soviet anti-tank guns, joining rank 2 on the USSR ground vehicle tech tree. Keep an eye on our news to find out what else is coming in the War Thunder patch 1.67!
