Hello fellow tankers, today I have a suggestion to update and upgrade the indomitable KV-2 heavy tank to it's mid-war configuration, in two flavors of guns to go with it, but I'll go into detail of that later.

The current KV-2 we have is an early model with the MT-1 turret, with it's angled and sloped faces, the MT-2 turret however was all flat faced with only minimal vertical angling on the sides, allowing for a greater amount of space inside the turret.
kv-2_305.jpg
Thankfully, even with the removal of the sloped front and rear, it maintained the same armor thickness of the MT-1 turret, meaning that while the effective armor with slightly less, it still maintained an overall 75mm of armor all around, with the same thickness on the mantlet too. The tank still retained it's original 152mm L20 howitzer, meaning that the gun would be the same as the MT-1 turreted KV-2, with the exception being that the MT-2 turret model would likely need a slight buff to the reload speed to account for the larger size and better working conditions for the tanks two loaders.  This would have the effect of making the KV-2A a direct upgrade to the KV-2 with the MT-1 turret.
KV_2M41_pic02.jpg
This also has the effect of allowing for a rather unique variant that would make either a good premium or event tank, and that is the test bed for the 107mm ZiS-6 AT gun.
a5289ed07202.jpg
The 107mm ZiS-6 gun was originally developed to be used by some of the Soviet super heavy tank projects, such as the KV-3, KV-4, and the KV-5.  Granted those tanks never saw service, or even testing, but the 107mm gun did on a KV-2A test platform, seeing as it was very similar to the proposed KV super heavy projects.  The gun, however, does have some tested statistics laying around, and as best as I can tell it was very similar to the 107mm M1940 (M-60), even firing the same ammo during testing, so that would be a good point to balance the gun against.

Below are some statistics and date off of the ZiS-6 and the 1940 (M-60)

Not a ton of data to go off of that's easy to find, so anyone with any further data feel free to correct me or add more.

But on the tank itself, if simply had an MT-2 turret modified to mount the 107mm gun, which I would imagine would allow the crew even more room in the turret, but that is only speculation.  Besides that, it was a standard KV-2A.
KV-2-107mm-2.jpg
To finish off, I only suggest it as it would allow for a tank with a unique gun shared by no other tank currently, and would also allow those that love the KV-2 tank as a whole at least one, if not two tanks if both suggestions are green-lit.  Besides that, I really have no solid other information about the 107mm version, but I don't see why at least the MT-2 turreted KV-2A would be a bad inclusion, but I'd like to hear everyone's thoughts on both matters, and if anyone does have any more info that I missed on either one (which I likely did), please don't hesitate to post it!  Thanks for your time, folks.  :good:

I voted no for the 152 mm version since KV-2 is already a pain in the ass with its HE rounds, buffed up reload would encourage more trolls to spam it again. And since the KV-2 is a tank which can even destroy 7.7 tanks with its HE you can't really solve the problem of an upgraded version by putting it at higher BR because if it is going to shoot first chances of OHK are like 80% anyways.

I like the 107 mm version tho :salute:

4.0 and 5.0 BR for 107mm

At 5.0 BR it would decently balanced with the poor mobility and low level of armour compared to tanks of it's BR range.

I think the Russians have enough toys in the toychest right now. However, I'm going to give it a yes, so long as its added in over time where all other nations are oversaturated with tanks!  :Ds

Also for its BR, even though it has a 107mm gun, its armor is laughable while its turret turning is probably just as bad, so I can respect seeing it at 5.3.

I voted for both version, but agreed with the posted that they should be added after other nations have their turn for more content.  Also, perhaps the middle poll question should be fixed to represent if someone wants but versions.

disagreed... i've just taken a look at the KV 2s x-ray... the gain in space doesnt effect the guys handling the gun in the lsightest

As much as I love derpy tanks, i have to say no to the 107mm Zis-6.

The last thing germans need are more tanks (hint hint Brits) that are better at sniping than they are.

KV-2A with 152 should have same BR with the regular KV-2 since there's not much difference between those two(one is bouncier and other has slightly faster reload)

the 107mm armed one should be .3 BR higher(4.7 RB and 5.3 AB, because 152mm KV-2 is 4.3 RB and 5.0 AB)

and i bloody want both

it makes absolutely no sense for the other one to have a faster reload... the gain of space DOESN'T affect hte loaders in ANY WAY!

There is a KV-2 model 1940 already incoming after the ww2 chronicles event as a price for completing 14 tank tasks.

http://warthunder.com/en/news/3681-special-event-series-chronicles-of-world-war-ii-en

"The later variant is the KV-2A. It is sometimes called the KV-2 M1940, or KV-2 MT-2 turret. It is sometimes wrongly known as the KV-2 M1941 or KV-2B. In German sources, this variant is referred to as the KW-2B or KW-IIB. This model featured the more common and boxy turret, featuring a second DT machine gun in a rear mount, and an improved rear turret hatch that made resupplying ammunition easier. The armor was kept the same, but thanks to the removal of the angled turret front, it had a much roomier crew turret, meaning that working conditions were better for the crew, especially the loaders."

The above quote is from Tanks Encyclopedia. (Anything from this site needs to be taken with a sceptic mind)  However i agree that more room doesn`t necessarily mean faster reload time. More like a more comfortable position for the loader.

The versions with different guns could be something.

I have to do challenges to unlock this thing? Great more ridiculous hard to do tasks for me to complete
