  1. 1. Do you think Italy and Hungary deserves their own tech tree?

    • Yes! More Axis nations will balance the gap with Allied forces.

Italian-Hungarian Ground Forces - Suggestion

Background

The need and the will for a new Axis nations moved our minds to do a great and difficult research for the Italian ground vehicles.

Italy was a main Axis power in WWII and fought in the North African and in the Eastern Front lines. The Regia Marina and Regia Aeronautica were very powerful and well known to the enemies but the armored forces of the Regio Esercito didn't have the same fame. They were poor armored but well armed because they need to be easy to build, repair and enoght agile in the soft ground of the desert.

There is also the common stereotype in the international communities that Italian crews were coward and ran away from the battelfields when an enemy were sight. This was feeded by the militarist propaganda in the past and still present today, but it's not the truth. Many times Italian crew, knowing the superiority of the enemy, fought till the last without doing a step behind. For example in El Alamein's battle , led by E. Rommel, the majority of the units were Italians and while the German troops were retreating they engaged the British forces slowing their advance and allowing the allied to escape but everybody just knows that in that battle there were the German and British troops.

Same thing with the Hungarian's army, in the Eastern Front against the Red Army, Germany wasn't alone. There were Italian, Hungarian and other nations with them that fought and died in the cold snowy ground.

There are too many mistakes in the historical representations (books, paints and games), we want to give Italy and Hungary the right place at least here, in War Thunder.

F.A.Q.

"Why there are Hungarian tanks in the Italian Tech Tree?"

- Hungary and Italy got the same tank's doctrine, during WWII they cooperated a lot in aviation and for armored vehicles too, so we decided to do the same asking the to Hungarian community their effort making a good and solid tech tree.

"There are some prototipe and mockup tanks in the main tree, why?"

- To do a good tech tree with a nice variety of tanks and with all the Ranks filled we decided to put some pre-production, prototype and mockup. The mockup tanks were destinated to be a produced but in 1943 Italy signed the armistice, it could be like a “what if”

"What type of tank guns will we see on the Italian Gun Trucks?"

- Italy it's singular in this way, got a lot of gun trucks that will have 47mm,75mm,76mm and 102mm howitzers with short barrel till Rank III, at Rank IV will have the powerfull AA derivated 90/53 able to pierce an armor up to 200mm with AP and 239mm with EPS.

"EP and EPS what kind of shells are?"

EP(effetto pronto) and EPS(effetto prondo speciale) were two special rounds made by Italy to face heavy armored tanks (like Churchill or Matilda) from long distance

EP works like the HESH, the EPS it's like the HEAT round.

"Italy got weak armor, why should we use them?"

Italy doesn't have though armors but still have powerful guns and fast vehicles. There is no need to have a slow but heavy armoured tank. We learned that a slow tank is a dead tank, with the Italian units the players will be able to flank any enemy and fire from the side.

"Why there are 6 lines instead of 5?"

In all tech tree there are 5 tank lines, we decided to split the medium lines in two separating the Hungarian from the Italian one. There is the “Gun Truck” line should be merged with the Tank Destroyer's one but we want to evidence the “new feature” to the users. Gaijin will place them were they want.

"Are they all the units that Italy got?"

No, there are some projects missing, they will be shown to the devs only.

"Why don't you add the Romanian and Swedish tanks to the TT?"
Many times users asked us to add the Romania and Sweden to the TT. Right now there are Italy and Hungary in the main TT, GB, USSR, USA, Germany and France in the premium units. Mixing other nations will turn this into an International Tech Tree.

"Why don't you add the tank destroyer 44M Tas Rohamloveg?"

The tank destroyer version of the Tas was a fictional vehicle of a historian who later said it himself that he just let his fantasy run wild when he drew the picture of that version.

Good job so far, and good luck! I'd be interested in using these vehicles.
