1. 1. Would like to see this as the British competitor to the Soviet IT-1?

The FV438 was a British ATGM vehicle that was designed to fire SACLOS ATGMs, known as the Swingfire. The Swingfire ATGM was wire guided, and was capable of turning 90 degrees on launch towards the target. And it was armed with 14 Missiles and came equipped with 2 launchers.

The FV438 itself was a lightly armoured vehicle, providing protection from 7.62mm Machinegun fire, but prone to anything above 12.7mm. It was however quite fast at 52km/h thanks to it's Rolls-Royce K60 Multifuel engine delivering 240hp at 15.7hp/tonne.

I believe this vehicle, despite it's low armour, would make a good addition to the British Tank line, and add something that can compete against it's closest rival, the IT-1.

Pretty sure Gaijin has this already in the works or at least some form of swingfire based vehicle (iirc there are three, 2 tracked and 1 armoured car)

+1 either way.

There are more, apart from this, the Ferret and Striker, you also got one equipped to the M47 (only mockup) and several other vehicles.

Oh, say I only knew of the FV712 Ferret, FV102 Striker and the FV438 Swingfire, didn't know they had more platforms.

Yeah, there is quite a plentiful selection to be honest

The British kinda went nuts with the Swingfire system once they had them.

Well, 400 mm of penetration, that HEATFS shells, which are already in the game have render any kind of homogeneous armour useless and there is not going to be any composite armour in the game according to the developers. That in IMHO means, that Swingfire missiles (or in that regard any ATGMs placed at top BR) won't damage the game mechanics any further, even if they have 800 mm of RHA penetration. On that high BR, the armour is useless anyway. Not even the IS-7 (so heavily hated and requested for not being added to the game by the guys who pretend the existence of "Russian Bias" in WT, which they use as an excuse for their own incompetence in every possible occasion) would be able to withstand 400 mm of HEAT penetration.

I love highly mobile vehicles, because if used in the right way they offer a wide range of possibilities, which are not achievable with any other types of vehicles.

I certainly want to see the Swingfire in game! It would make a good British ATGM, maybe each nation can get up to 3 ATGM's in 1.59 if there are enough.

Japan will still suffer, they only have 1 ATGM Vehicle and it's a Jeep. I think Russia can get the BMP-1, Germany the Marder 1A3 and Britain the Fox, the US can have the M60A2E1 as additionals. If we get 3, Russia also has the Object 775 which would be cool.

I would very much like to see some contest with the IT-1 but I don't think this is it. This looks like it has twice the height (silhouette) of the IT-1, with zero armor (will be torn to shreds by the USSR 14mm MG's) and I suspect the mobility isn't too different from the IT-1, judging from the videos we've seen.

You mentioned this has two launchers. If this somehow has more firepower than the IT-1, be it a more rapid ROF or firing two at once, then I can get behind it, however I'd still prefer seeing it at a lower BR/Tier than the IT-1 considering the armor.

Although to be fair, the armor might not even matter considering this is at a tier where HEATFS rules the battlefield.

For even more ATGM's for the US and German I was thinking of the Raketenjagdpanzers and M8 TOW (M8 Greyhound with a TOW missile) but regardless I'm getting a bit off-topic. Anyway a concern I have is that the Swingfire has the slowest missile according to the Raketenjagdpanzer 2 suggestion thread but it also has the missile with the most penetration, an extra missile launcher, and looking at the picture:

A periscope, if I'm not mistaken. So I guess the Swingfire is on-par with the Raketenjagdpanzer, the question is can it also compete with the IT-1 and US ATGM's?

I believe that is a periscope so it should be able to fire over terrain while being of way of fire.

Really not sure. I think that it stretches the timeline to much. Britain has a choise of three different armoured cars to use instead of this vheicle, although that would mean that they wouldn't have any tracked vehcile with an ATGM. At least this is more fittion than the FV 102 Striker. I may change my mind in the future however. '

Could you perhaps add a "maybe" option in the poll?

Abstain is pretty much the maybe option.

It was better armoured than that.

You do know who the bloke in the picture is? And I'd strongly suggest removing it before the mods spot it.
