Update 1.61 launcher freezes on download

This was my original post from the  Crashes, Connection & Update Problems and Advice section.  Several of us mac users have this problem, so Hunternz told us to come to this section of the forums.  Link to original thread   http://forum.warthunder.com/index.php?/topic/325312-cant-download-161-update/

"I'm also on an iMac with the launcher crashes during update problem.  Everything was fine, updated launcher relaunched and then started downloading the update.  With about 5min left in the download launcher froze and prompted me to send in a crash log.  Had to force quit launcher after sending crash report and had to force quit steam as it also stopped responding.

Now when i start the game launcher it finishes checking files then when it moves to downloading files it freezes, prompting to send a crash report. Both launcher and steam are unresponsive and give me the spinning pinwheel of death, i must force quit to exit"

I can't load the update on my iMac and Macbook Pro. Both crashed even before loading of the new patch is completed. Please do something. I was looking forward to the updates and now I'm left high and dry. All my friends who are Mac users experience the problem, so I believe almost all Mac users are experiencing this.

Got it working after reading a post by Olorintane so here is the Fix that worked for me...

In steam go to your library and alt-click War Thunder -> properties -> Local Files tab and click on "Verify Integrity of Game Cache".  Steam will run a file check then download the replacement files (found 165 files needed replaced on mine).  After that I restarted Steam went back to War Thunder - Properties - Local Files tab and clicked on "Browse Local Files" - located warthunder.yup.update and send it to the trash.  Close out the boxes and launch War Thunder.

Launcher took about 1sec to check the files and i logged into the game without issue.

My steam wouldn't launch war thunder either, so I just reset steam and reinstalled war thunder. Took a while but it finally works just like before :D

Nice advice and good to know.

I have tried several times, most recently today, to download patch 1.61 and after checking files, the download begins and shortly after everything freezes and it prompts me to send a crash report which I've been doing in the hopes that it will help resolve the issue.

Can a moderator please give an official update on this.

Please Note that this has helped me and I cannot help you in any way other that the way I am going to mention as I don't know any other way. I have tried other suggestions but they did not work. What I found was when you browse the local files, right click the launcher and show package contents, find the war thunder click-show package contents. Keep opening files till you get to the folder called game. I recommend duplicating of copying this folder incase this doesnt work for you. Once you have done this you need to go back to the first folder (war thunder folder) and copy all files from compiledShader till the end of the folder *not including the launcher* and past this into the Game folder within the actual game file. Start up the launcher and the download should not take that long as it has all/very large majority of the files needed, I had a 1 min download after this. Hope this helps and sorry for the complicated instructions. Should have the files that are in the image.

I got it to download all the files but then it goes into 'checking files' an stops about 5% in. Usually there's some file you need to ditch to make it work (.yup) So poke around and try that maybe? I've been advised to delete it before and it helped.

" I know im late to this thread, but what does warthunder.yup.update do? And what would deleting it do? "
