Games are simply too short! 3:34!!!

I find the 3 minute games a little hard to believe and I'd rather see some scoreboards of them rather than player sheets so I could figure out what went wrong.  I'm guessing that all are attributable to bomber spam.

 

I just reviewed my last 50 arcade games and found that my average was still a healthy 11:35 with the shortest being 5:25.   That shortest game was an 11 on 11 low jet tier game in which the enemy team managed to drop 85 tons of bombs in just five minutes spawning 6 Tu-4/B-29's.   It was one and done, when I saw what was happening in jets at the moment, I immediately refused to go back.   The Tu-4's didn't even bother to go high, they just dove for targets, confident they could kill anyone who tried to stop them.

 

All of the matches I saw that were under 7 minutes were over quickly due to bomber spam.    AF matches tended to be a couple of minutes shorter than GF matches on average.

Well, that's the enemy team... that didn't do any scoring at all.   I can't see your team, which I'm assuming must have been the winner in this match, right?   Somebody had to score something.

 

What did you do?  Out bomberspam their bomberspam?

And so we must presume they won?  So the Pro100 team wasn't smart enough to bomber spam in equal measure?   Heck, starting around 6.0  e v e r y o n e  does. 

 

Once you hit a game where the later 217's can play, this game is absolutely crap all the way through the Tu-4's reach.   Who even plays it there anymore?

Apparently if you don't play jets and high tier then you are an inexperienced scrub... That's what I'm told anyways :D

 

I rarely play anything over 4.3 because I find it garbage gameplay... Almost every game is a ground strike... If I see the enemy with a lot of bombers then I must outbomb them... So it becomes a race of the Do spam.  In 4.3 and below you at least have very few true "Heavy" bombers.

The game play may be bad across the boards and at higher tiers it's total trash. Agree 100%. However, let's not pretend that lower BR games don't have higher numbers of inexperienced players.

 

After all, flying 4 Do 217s into the ground is the pinnacle of playing to win isn't it?

Not going to deny that at all!  There will be more inexperienced players at low level however, there are bad players at every BR.... On another note... at low BR's you always have a chance of being at the bottom of the BR, against vehicles 1.0 BR higher than yours... At 9.0 you do not run this risk.  You are without a doubt the top of the food chain every game.

 

I try to stay below the BR that allows 4x Do's to be thrown in a lineup but now and then I jump up to 5.3 or 6.3, only to be disappointed again by super bomber spam... At the higher BR's the fighters should have more of a role... But it really seems the higher the BR the more of a role bombers have.  Believe it or not we generally try to get a lead in games and then go air to air while encouraging our team to stop hitting ground and just have fun in the air... Usually doesn't happen though...  I've rammed teammates that were capping an airfield that we were leaving neutral to extend out the game.

But from my observation, GAIJIN did react: I am seeing a lot more Frontline battles, which offer a lot to all type of planes. They take longer. They mimick T1 battles in some way (giant red cloud with soft ground). Yet people seem to be unhappy about them too. They are the sort of mission in which one can do all battle tasks quite well. My only problem with them are the ticker bars or victory conditions. And the fact that only a few maps exist - more variety would be nice.

Why?

AFAIK "Survivor" award doesn't require any minimum.

"Didn't lose any vehicle and destroyed more air targets than all other players who didn't lose any vehicle"

Oh good, so they finally fixed it. So it becomes a good option for battle tasks. Thanks for pointing it out!

Did you see if they fixed all problems? Can't infer it from this screen.

It seems it really works (or worked) that way.

I've checked the replay of a couple of recent battles (some days ago) and I got "Survivor" just when I've been the most successful player in battle with 0 deaths and 7 kills but not when I had 0 deaths and 3 kills (even still being the "survivor" with most kills in both teams).

 

Quite incredible that Gaijin couldn't find some time to correct a simple single phrase in wiki, on an issue already discussed in this forum!

Or possibly they were waiting to correct the mechanism (after many months!), as Kireta has discovered.

 

Maybe we have here a clue about many other "inexplicable" shortcomings and/or delays in this game ...

I took a SS of my match yesterday of completing a ground strike in 2:54... We had a full 4 man squad but only 3 in TS were communicating that we wanted to end it fast for the heck of it.  This weekend I think we will do some map blazing to see how many sub 3 minute games we can get and then post something on suggestion forums.

To top it all, I've been getting a lot of total cloud cover maps. That's what we need. Several TU4 hiding in clouds in total safety!

 

There shouldn't be maps with that many clouds. That factor negates almost all gameplay elements. Bombers keep hidden, fighters can only do useless dogfights between them, or chase the dumb players who don't take advantage of the clouds.

 

On the other hand, a week ago I had a match where I killed 6 TU4 with my Me262A. And we still lose.

 

Jet games still getting very few people and long waiting times because of insane grinding, BR compression, stock sindrome and all that.

 

Yes, things are fine only untill around 5.0.

I love the "We crave for realism" moto from Gaijin and the 6km+ high clouds where you chase those damn bombers. Worst is one map yesterday with total cloud cover over our bases and AF, and close to crystal clear sky over theirs : giant finger in the sky, left that game.

They want to put clouds to hide bombers? That fine with me, but add some realism and make the targets under the clouds invisible from above.

Another day, and more under 5 min games with absolutely NO challenge in the sky, only trying to get as many bombers and groundpounders as you can before the game ends. Hell, the pilots don't even try to fight, knowing they're going to spawn another wing supported engine with 2000lbs bombs 20 secs later. Awful.

100% agree :salute:
Currently we have fun in arcade up to 3.7, everything higher and we have 5min battles (frontline mode is saving it a little...) I would rather have 10-20min battles so I can use more than 2 planes, now it is not fun at all :(
