These are purely my thoughts and suggestions. Feel free to post your own in the comments and I might add them to the list

 

 

So far we've had 4 ww2 Chronicles Events, and each time there has been a lot of complaints about the difficulty and grindyness of the tasks. Since summer is now here, we might soon see another Chronicles Event with 4 sexy new vehicles up for grabs, But before that, I thought I would give my thoughts on how to improve the tasks. Making them less grindy, but still not too easy.

 

Previous Chronicles:

 

Previous tasks (for the most recent chronicle) and my thoughts:

1st task:

For Pilots: Destroy 30 enemies (x2 RB, x3 SB)

For Tankers: Destroy 40 enemies (x2 RB, x3 SB)

Decent enough, however I personally find it a lot easier to get kills in aircraft than in tanks. But I totaly understand why the difference is there.

2nd task:

For pilots: Get the achievement "Supporting Fire" (Help for destroying in a squad) 4 times

For tankers: Get the achievement "Supporting Fire" (Help for destroying in a squad) 5 times

This one, is pure cancer.

1: Not everyone has a squad to play it, and random squads are utterly unreliable.

2: This is a lot more difficult for tankers than for pilots. Spray an enemy aircraft briefly with 7.7's and your squad mate finnishes him off. Try to do that against an enemy tank, and he'll just shoot you. After all, he has a cannon, and if you use your cannon, you risk killing him which means loosing that chance for a supporting fire.

3rd task:

For pilots: Win 10 times (with activity in battle more than 60%)

For tankers: Win 10 times (with activity in battle more than 70%)

Why is this higher for tanks than for aircrafts?

Also the majority of the playerbase has jobs or school, so forcing us to WIN 10 times with a high battle activity. This is one of the reasons why people quit the event. Not to mention the fact that it, again, forces you to rely on random people.

4th task:

For pilots: Finish the battle in 1st place four times (while either winning or losing the battle)

For tankers: Finish the battle in 1st place four times (while either winning or losing the battle)

This is just horrible. I mean at least it's both winning and loosing, but you will constantly loose that first place in the team, because the guy right bellow you managed to get into a Ju-87 and spray an enemy tank with 7.92MG's before crashing into the ground, giving him the points to surpass you. Not to mention that this really encourages kill stealing.

5th task:

For pilots: Destroy 10/3/2 enemies in 1 battle (AB, RB, SB) while controlling an aircraft. (x4 RB, x5 SB)

For Tankers: Destroy 12/6/3 enemies in 1 battle (AB, RB, SB) while controlling a ground vehicle. (x2 RB, x3 SB)

Not bad, but not great. Kinda boring, and again, encourages a lot of killstealing.

 

 

Improvements for current tasks:

First task:

It's fair enough, but does get quite grindy.

 

Second Task:

Throw it out the window. This is just a complete nightmare for solo players.

 

Third Task:

Fair'ish, but I'd personally like to see it being lowered to 8 victories, just to take the edge off.

 

Fourth Task:

Pure cancer. For a solution, check suggestion #2

 

Fifth task:

It's sort of alright, but I would like it to be changed from "Destroy 12/6/3 vehicle in 1 battle (AB, RB, SB)" to "Destroy 10/4/3 vehicles in 1 battle (AB, RB, SB)" for ground forces.

 

My Own Suggestions For Alternate Tasks:

#1: Score a total of 20.000 points in battle

This one I really like. Because this way, it rewards the individual for what he does, and what he gets the most points out of is TEAMWORK. Not to mention that every battle contributes towards this one, no matter how horrible it went. (Could however be changed to 25k if 20k isn't enough)

 

#2: Finish the battle in the top 3 on the leaderboards 4 times (while either winning or losing the battle)

This one would balance it out a lot. It would ease the grind, while also making sure that it's not too easy.

 

#3: Get 15 assists

Simple, and rather easy. While it doesn't fix the killstealing problem, it would certainly make getting killstealed a lot less annoying. Not to mention that it goes for everyone who killsteals you, and not just your squad mate.

However I don't think it should be above 15, as that would encourage people to just damage an enemy and then drive off, potentially leaving him to repair and return fire.

20,000pts is a bit high. i once killed 20 player tanks in realistic battle in a single game and it gave me 5,000pts. to get to 20,000 you would need to do about 80kills without assist or capture in a match. there wouldn't be a game where the enemy will spawn that much vehicles. maybe change it to 3 times 3.000pts in a single game.

By the time you would have completed two of the other tasks, you would more than likely have gathered the 20k total needed to complete this one :)

Also, go for captures? They give good points, and help towards the other tasks.

You should clarify better that you mean 20'000 cumulative battle points through multiple matches. I like this, and suggest the same myself in the past. 

 

But I do NOT support any task requiring any kind of assists. Even if any assist counts, it forces you to do something that goes AGAINST the purpose of the game (hit your enemy but AVOID killing him) and shouldn't therefore be an actively pursued objective.

Getting rid of them totaly is something I think they wouldn't do. But getting assists is still much better than getting Supporting Fires

indeed, last winter i literally saw my squadmate Sherman commit suicide next to a stug that i literally disable the engine to let my teammate finish him. the worse what that he didn't kill anyone or capture any points. it took me dozen of games to actively find a squadmate who was actually trying to kill something and that is if he do not decide to go on plane as soon they die once. i don't put much trust on my random squadmate, they are too often clueless about what they need to do or in many case, they are just not careful enough to survive. and also, i may try really hard but i seldom can't avoid to leave my prey alive long and disable to safely give the kill to someone else. however, just kill assist is a bit too easy, someone would just need to be happy trigger with the MG and he will get a dozen of it in a single battle.

 

 

maybe alternatively raise the kill assist to 25, win 10time as before or 3 victory in a row, 40kills, first place 3 times, 10kills in a single battle. the cumulative score of 20,000 would be a bit too easy, i seldom score less than 2,500 in a game, i often reach 4,000. it would be done in a few games for me. it's should not be that easy. the reward deserve to be earn

25 assists would be too much. Going into a game with the the plan of not killing anyone is only harmful. 3 victories in a row is awful consideirng you have to rely completely on your team. And I do know that 20.000 points is quite low, however there are a lot of "newer" players that dont get as much as the more experienced. Ive tried earning 13k+ in a single battle. But its far from everyone who can do that.

THIS is the point I was trying to make in my previous post. Assists are fine as long as they are "consolation prizes", but they shouldn't be an objective. 

 

It's an extreme example, but imagine this: what would happen in a match if all players were only trying to score assists? 

 

Or, more simply, would you like to be in a match where half of your teammates do NOT want to kill enemies, and will just poke at them?

I know, but do you honestly think gaijin would remove it completely? last time we asked them to stop giving us tasks about getting assists they changed it to supporting fire, which is even more difficult.

I like the points idea and making future Chronicles events less grindy in general, particularly since I no longer have the same amount of free time to "no life" my way through the achievements.

40 kills (20 RB 14 SB)

5 supporting fires

7 matches with a score of 2000 (4 in RB and SB)

9 wins with 70% battle activity

10 kills in 1 match (5 RB 4 SB)

 

Tasks for planes (3 needed)

30 kills (15 RB 10 SB)

4 supporting fires

6 matches with a score of 2000 (3 RB and SB)

7 wins with 60% battle activity

9 kills in 1 match (3 RB 2 SB)

Well some of them are quite awful. I usualy go for both the "kills" tasks and then choose whatever third one im closest to getting.

I see it this way:

 

You "crit" a target but was unable to kill, however someone else gets kill.

You get credit for the damage.

 

Being in a 2 to 4 person squad to do this is tricky part.

 

What is missing is task for bombers, that is ground kills and base destruction.

The challenge there is how many bombs/tonnage a bomber carries varies a lot.

And AB is more AI vehicles, and only 1 target (the AF).

20k cumulative is quite high, but a possible top end of possible range.  

I usually get about 2k per match, so 10 matches, but that is a lot of time spent.

15K is about what I think is reasonable goal, or even 17.5k.

over all I find your suggestions alright but I think that the total points a player should need to get be increased to 50,000, over the course of  the day, if they play the objective this I fairly easy to reach in planes, but for tanks I feel 20,000 is fine, the top 3 should be increased aswell to 10 times, if you play RB planes and groundstrike you'll know what I mean rarely does someone in a fighter make more points than a ground attacker who is left alone, a light pillboxes is worth 500+point kill a few and your over 3000 score, I like the idea of just kill assists, but having to choose which one you would do seems like a better idea to me, like you can get 4-5 supporting fire or you can get 25 kill assists

The current task we have ingame is 7/8 matches with a score of 2000+, which means a total of 12/14k total BUT if you don't get 2000+ score, it doesn't count. It would with the 20k system. Also getting over 2k is really easy in all gamemodes except for Sim. Especially in air where you only have to take out a few ground units and you got it. In air RB you can easily get upwards of 6k in a single short match.

Garbage events that.... are exactly the same as a normal non event match. Also Im NOT saying we should go back to the historical events. This are TASK suggestions.

It is nice but for average player its gonna be hard considering I sit at war thunder 7+ hours a day and it is hard for me 

And wins please remove that when I need wins I always lose so no

20 000 points in one battle ? What magic do you use ? 

Best players got 6000+- 20 000 across multiple battles is good 

But some nice vehicle reward I dont really want to spend time doing this for AA or some useless crap like katusha
