Dear Squadron Battles players,

 

It was a long time since we had the chance to talk about SqB in person, so I invite you to a meeting in Discord this Sunday.

 

Meeting with RB Squadron Battles squadrons will begin at 17:00 GMT on July 9th 2017.

 

Meeting with AB Squadron Battles squadrons will begin at 18:00 GMT on July 9th 2017.

Thanks to all who could attend the meeting yesterday!

 

For all the players who could not come, here is the short summary of the suggestions for changes in Squadron Battles and known bugs:

 

Suggestions for all Squadron Battles:

1. Rewards for the winning the SqB are too low. It would be a good change to introduce a trophy box with vehicles/camouflages/decals/decorators where you get a better prize the higher you are on the leader board of Squadron Battles

2. Titles, camouflages as rewards for winning the SqB that stay forever
3. Introduction of Squadron Logos as decals in the game (as an item that can be purchased for golden eagles)

4. Introduce the pop-up window in the game interface with a message when a player was rejected from the squadron so the message would be delivered in more informative way than it is now.

 

Known bugs in all Squadron Battles:

1. Bombs fly through bridges, monuments and rocks and do not detonate on them.

2. Sometimes matchmaker does not find a match for a long time although there are other squadrons in the que.

 

Realistic Squadron Battles:

 

Suggestions:

1. Different ranks of vehicles in SqB changing during seasons - each season has roughly 8 weeks, different vehicles would be available each week, based on their BR (i.e., 1st week of the season: BR range from 3.0 to 3.7, 2nd week 3.7-4.3, 3rd week 4.3-5.0, 4th week 5.0-5.7, 5th week 5.7-6.3, 6th week 6.3-7.0, 7th week 7.0-7.7, 8th week 7.7-9.0)
2. Make the time of day more balanced in the Squadron Battles so that the sun is not directly shining towards one side of the battle.
3. Return of T32 (as a counter for IS-6)
4. Give an option to use the Tiger II (H) 10.5 cm (as a counter for IS-6)

 

Arcade Squadron Battles:

 

Suggestions:

1. Make a different setting for the match maker in the ASqB to cut the long matching times.

2. Return of the Kugelblitz (maximum 2 per team)
3. Return of T32 (as a counter for IS-6)
4. Give an option to use the Tiger II (H) 10.5 cm (as a counter for IS-6)

 

Bugs in ASqB:

1. Bots appear instead of players in the case that other team leaves the battle
2. Long que times due to lower number of players and same match maker setting as in RSqB
3. Crashes in ASqB - these crashes happen only in Arcade Squadron Battles and many squadrons experience them - we will need player logs from this crashes to examine the problem further.
4. Reconnecting after client crash does not work in ASqB.

 

In addition to these, we have the list of suggestions and bugs from the Russian Squadron Battles Community (suggestions and bugs that are the same will not be doubled):

 

Bugs:

1. It is possible to enable the "hovering camera" by using a keyboard shortcut in Spectator mode after being destroyed in RSqB.

2. Map Ardennes is used very often and there is Ardennes map with Battle mode in the SqB.

 

Suggestions (for both ASqB and RSqB):

1. Return of the Kugelblitz (maximum 2 per team)
2. Return of T32 (as a counter for IS-6)
3. Give an option to use the Tiger II (H) 10.5 cm (as a counter for IS-6)

 

Arcade Squadron Battles:

1. Remove the map "Sands of Tunisia" from Arcade Squadron Battles.

Yes, of course. I plan to have a meeting after ending of each season, to make a summary of that season and talk about new stuff.

First of all, thank you sooo much for the meeting Zerbah. We really do appreciate that. Right now you are pretty much the only person from Gaijin who really talks with us.

I would personally love to see the same in AB. However, I do not think that making it a min-max spread is such a good idea. Past experience in SqBs has taught us that the top vehicle is not always the best one. Look at AB SqBs where people use rank III fighters a lot (Bf 109G-2/F-4), even though rank IV planes are available. Limiting battles up to a given BR instead of rank is a great idea, I wouldn't put a minimum BR barrier though.

 

I am also not entirely convinced that moving SqBs up to rank V is a good way to go right now. Combat with jets and ATMGs is something completely different than what SqBs players are used to, and I'm afraid not many people have those vehicles prepared (spaded and so on, and that takes a ridiculous amount of time for rank V). We could give it a go of course, but with AB SqBs population being that low, I don't know if we can risk scaring even some people away.

There is no problem with MM, problem is with number of players. For this point my suggestion is to separete pilots from tankers just like it's on RB. Pilot fly, tanker drive they don't need to have both planes/tanks to be fully capable to participate in SqB, so why AB players have to? This is very big restriction and I bet everyone from us knows some players that stop playing AB SqB because they where pure pilot or tanker. Another thing is a balance between air and ground, from what I heard 70% of overall number of players play on ground, so now we have mode for minority, fighters with bombs still wins games, is this logic? I think this should be changed if WT now is more based on tanks than planes AB SqB also should be changed in that way. Perhaps line-up with fighters that can carry only 1 bomb or team balance 3 planes 5 tanks.

Why not simply just disable IS-6? 

 

Without bigger accessibility AB SqB are dead it's main problem, if devs don't change it it's over. Unfortunately for AB SqB World War is starting so probably devs wont shoot themself in the foot and will not change anything that would increase AB SqB popularity, because why they would make bigger competition for they new child.

Hi @zerbah 

 

Please see this post, I believe strongly that more needs to be done. Players goes were the reward is and SvS needs improving, this will help to get more players active in squads and more competitive players mean they play more WT and they spend more on GE, so everyone is a winner here.
