Super M60

Greetings forum dwellers! With the new Era coming to War Thunder I thought the Super M60 would be a lovely addition to the game but unfortunately since there was only 1 prototype built, documentations on the prototype's armor measurements is hard to come by if there's any.

The Super M60 is an armor upgrade package specifically for the M60 series tank. The project was initiated in the early 1980s, the package was not only exclusive to the US's arsenal however, it was planned to be exported to foreign countries as well. The project lived shortly and deemed a failure due to no countries buying it, since wealthier tank operators moved on to the 3rd generation of MBTs and developing countries having insufficient funds to import the armor package. So never made it into production stages like the many American tanks before it.

-Specifications

The Super M60 was powered by a Teledyne Continental Motors CR-1790-1B V12 Diesel engine, consisting of around 1,180 Hp. An Renk RK 304 automatic transmission with 4 forward and 4 reverse gears. 8 in total.

Main Armament consisted of the L52/M68A1: 105mm cannon(63 rounds)

Rounds type: HEAT, APFSDS, HESH, HE, WP, APERS.

Secondary armament- 1x 12.7mm M2HB(x600), Coaxle gun 7.62mm M240C(x6,000)

4 Crewman: Driver, Loader, Commander, Gunner.

Commander in the turret rear,

Gunner in the turret right towards the front,

Loader in the turret towards the rear,

Driver in the center of the frontal hull.

AN/VVG-2 laser rangefinder, AN/VVS-2 thermal imaging system, M21 digital ballistic computer. As seen on the M60A3 variants.

Gun elevation/depression: -10 to +20 degrees.

Enhanced torsion bars via hydropneumatic struts.

The Super M60's sloped turret features spaced armor much like the MBT-70/KPz-70, the hull is protected by more layers of steel as well as the tracks being protected by more steel. It is unkown on the KE penetrator's effect on the armor of the Super M60.
