How arcade air beginner zone works

THIS DOES NOT EXIST FOR TANKS! If choosing tanks you will be throw into 16v16 matchups. If you intend on ever playing planes I suggest starting with these as this is your only opportunity to play in a beginner environment and learn the mechanics of the game

I am not sure I understand this. Do these beginner battles only happen when starting in a plane? If I started in tanks and have started Rank 3 of the Soviet tank tree, and now, as a total newbie in planes, want to jump in with my reserve I-15s, will I still get access to beginner battles? The mention of someone level 26 still in the beginner zone seems to point that this is possible, as I have trouble imagining how one could get 26 levels without a single BR 3 plane (although starting with a plane, then switching to tanks for 23 levels may do the trick).

It seems you haven't read through it carefully.

-You can switch over to playing tanks in the regular zone at any time. When you resume playing planes you will still be in the beginner zone until you research a 3.0 or higher plane OR TANK.

Since you have already fully researched a Rank 3(which should of course have a BR of 3.0+) vehicle, you have no hope of getting back to the beginner zone, either planes OR tanks. Also, the beginner zone ONLY exists in Arcade battles.

You bought a premium tank even before starting the game, didn't you? NEVER do that again. But it's not entirely your fault. Some of it is Gaijin's fault for not properly advertising the arcade beginner zone mechanic. If you really want to start learning properly, start a new account, don't buy anything, search the forums / official wiki / youtube for useful beginner tutorials and guides(there are literally a ton of guides out there if you know where to look). Be very careful not to leave the beginner zone until you have no choice(you WILL reach that point eventually because you can't stop earning RP). I am a starter myself, still far from leaving the beginner zone, and I assure you there will be none of the beginner frustration for you if you start this way.

Er, no. That would be physically impossible ;). But as was said above in the thread, after a couple missions in a tank, Gaijin offers us a Rank 1 tank, a T-26 in fancy winter camo in my case.

ALL of it is Gaijin's fault. Who TF would imagine that if one starts playing with tanks, one will be forever screwed as far as learning to fly goes. Now in order to fix it I'll have to fly against people I have absolutely no chance of avoiding, let alone shoot down? Sorry GJ, that's too much work and frustration to remain a paying customer, *you* should be paying people to play through this mess.

Anyway, I've just tried an Arcade Air mission. If the number of players is any indication, as seen on the statistics screen ('N' by default), then we were 10 on each side. Sure I had my behind handed to me 3 times for 1 assist, and to my surprise I could use 4 planes instead of the 3 vehicles limit I have on tanks, but I may still be in the newbie zone.

But you said you had reached Rank 3 in soviet tanks.

As I told you, the beginner zone exists in both air AND tank arcade battles. You stay in it until you have FULLY RESEARCHED A VEHICLE(DOESN'T MATTER IF ITS A PLANE OR TANK) WITH A BR OF 3.0 AND HIGHER. If you fully research a BR 3.0+ plane OR tank, you leave the beginner zone in both air AND tank arcade battles(do you see the difference between AND and OR?).  The reason I said you had no hope to return to the beginner zone was because you said you had a Rank 3 tank. If you don't have a vehicle with a BR of 3.0 and higher, you are still in the beginner zone.

I dont think this is correct. I "broke" begginer zone IN TANKS yesterday...researched a 3.0 tank.

I am pretty sure i am still in beginner zone in PLANES. I will test MORE later (at work now, and boss wont allow PS4 in the office)...but i tried a PLANE match and i am almost sure i got on of those beginner missions filled with bots...and in TANKS the difference was abysmal...no more bots, many more enemies, most in better tanks, different maps, different objectives...a completely different ballgame.

EDIT:

Played several games today. Pretty sure i am still in beginner zone in THE AIR although i am in general population in TANKS. Difference is considerable so no real doubts...just have to break a BR3 aircraft to be 100% sure...

If this is true, thank god I'm saved. I bought a naval pack and I thought naval CBT would push me out of the beginner zone for ALL vehicle types. Really hope this is true.

It is true for me as stated above ;) But please share your experience after you get the CBT pack as this non-official and there may be an hidden reason for some events...

By the way...after you get some experience, getting out of beginner isnt as hard as i though...IN TANKS.

Of course...you are no longer a top 3 player...but more lower middle of the table...but at least in AB i am having lots of FUN. New maps, many new tanks...smarter opponents...no longer charge and fire...now i have to use cover and avoid larger tanks...

You do get uptiered a lot...and have to fight tanks you have problems defeating...but you get stronger teamates also...and for me this is interesting...war is hell ;)

Have no clue about planes...will update shortly...just improving some Italian crap before jumping to BR3...

Update...and warning...

Apparently if an update changes one of your planes into a br3.0 plane you get out of begginer zone...in my case (and probably others) it wasn the "new" me110...

And i can confirm Planes and Tanks were separated...i am NOW out of both begginer zones...

Side note...contrary to tanks, i am not liking the planes change...airspace seems TOO crowded...

I don't think this was already mentioned, but you only have a maximum of 100 matches in the beginner zone, no matter how well you prolong researching a 3.0 BR vehicle.

  • 2 years later...

I have seen the word 'researched' referring to the BR at which you leave the new player area.  I've bought packs and open crates from my tank battle time that include a premium aircraft that is in my tree and available, but I've never crewed it or flown it.  Even if not researched, does this aircraft count?  I've just started flying the aircraft part of WT...all BR 1.0/reserve rating.  Could be a mistake to not have a warning if spending money or opening a crate throws you into matches you're not ready for...

Thanks!

Well, to answer my own question, yes...I'm in big fights with planes up to a BR above my reserves.  So any aircraft that you have above 3.0, even if it's from a chest or pack, counts.  I'm still getting hits and kills, and hey...the 'rank does not matter' award always makes me grin!

*edit*

Actually facing higher than my BR because of the averaging that's different from ground in the Air Arcade Battles.  Interesting...
