Freezing Continues! Reply if it happening to you!

This is not a hardware but software problem, When I run the game on OSX I get crashes on almost every game, but on the same computer, when I run Windows, I have no crashes at all. So please fix this Gajin

i found that the game started to freeze after I took a premium account. Does that append to you ?

I was freezing liberally under premium account, but let it lapse due to the ongoing freezes.

Same here now...have been playing custom matches and have logged several hundred freezes at this point.

I keep a running log of all screen freezes here: https://imgur.com/a/Pdz3V

I can't find any common themes in the frozen screens - IE, render details that may cause issues or problems with certain terrain types.

I originally posted the advice about exiting to the desktop. I have a late 2013 27” i5 iMac with NVidia GPU (780M), using High Sierra it now plays almost always OK at around 60 fps but about every second or third game it will slow to 8-10fps in the results screen after a match has ended. It slowed right down once in a game as well, but has only done that once.

The fix I use is to switch to the desktop and then switch back into WT. That always seems to bring the fps back up immediately. I suspect that somewhere in that results screen WT gets the GPU into some sort of loop or a conflicted state, and switching to the desktop interrupts this. The FPS can vary a bit, dropping to around 40 in some circumstances but I haven’t really worked out what circumstances as 40 is still playable.

As such the game is playable with the irritating feature that it requires this switch out/in quite often between games. I play a low resolution but not ULQ, not quite, and I run full-screen. Settings; I have Metal selected, and under HS this is Metal-2.

Note that before upgrading to High Sierra it was freezing to a stop every 2-5 games and was essentially unplayable. As far as I know thee was no update between the last time playing at 10.12 and playing with HS installed, so the improvement (no freezing) seems to be down to HS. This is playing ground forces only.

maybe contribute to the current bug report?

It might help get it solved.....

There are several similar crash reports out as well...I think the mods need to consolidate these somehow...

Same here, it freezes after some time in the battle. It's random. Sometimes I can play one battle, sometimes it freezes a minute after joining the game.

In the windowed mode I have noticed a title of the window that says "OpenGL3, 64bit".

Is the OpenGL3 referring to the OpenGL version used in WT?

Maybe it would be good to make another version available with 4.1 support for Mac, downloadable according to the current system capabilities.

Everyone,

The freezing issue has gone on TOO long! We need support and for developers to ACKNOWLEDGE the issue. If this is still happening to you, post here! We are willing to try whatever is needed to fix the game, but a developer needs to TELL US how to fix it on our machines!

Happens to me as well and seeing that it affects so many players it CANNOT be on our end ...to many configurations for it to be possible ...fault with engine

Anybody else has this phantom packet loss as well ?

Yep, several major issues not addressed yet.

For example inverted shadows, which is weird by the way because it was working OK until not long ago.

But they know it.

It would be good to get some update on what's going on, and why it's so difficult to dress these errors.

Meanwhile new features come up, old errors stay untouched.

Money first, customers later?

While I don't necessarily get freezes, I get a crap ton of micro stuttering that gets me killed almost every battle and makes the game unplayable right now. I know it's not a problem with my computer because before 1.87 War Thunder ran perfectly, now I can't play the game well and it drives me crazy. This really needs to be fixed soon because I'm probably not going to come back until its fixed.

Freeze and crash- yes- same thing. It had been working ok mostly. THis issue seems to be time dependent. My evenings (GMT-8). after a crash I am told 'Aces' has quit unexpectedly.

Today I have installed Sierra on the second disk.

On Mojave and High Sierra I couldn't play more than 2 or 3 minutes. 10 seconds sometimes.

On Sierra I'm playing now my third map, and the performance is much better. The game is running smoother despite older technology.

Much less graphic errors.

The conclusion: WT is simply not optimised for Metal 2 which was introduced in High Sierra.

It's odd since High Sierra is on the market for almost 2 years now.

So for now to play WT will be a fancy event like going to cinema :)
