french spg Lorraine 37L Antichar

i would like to suggest a possible tier 2 tanks destroyer for the french tree. the Lorraine 37L Antichar.

 

the Lorraine 37L Antichar was a anti-tank self-propelled gun built in a hurry in July 1940. the development nearly improvised tanks destroyer is often attributed to the German but it was indeed built in the hope to used it against the German and give a alternative to the Laffly W15T in the self-propelled anti-tank artillery role. the Lorraine 37L Antichar was simple. it was simply a 47mm SA-37 gun mounted on the chassis of the Lorraine 37L tractor. the tractor was lightly armored with 9mm of armor in the front and a 70HP engine, the tractor could reach a speed of 35km/h. in addition, the gun was equipe with a shield of 7mm thick. the self propelled gun was carrying a cew of 4 and 30 shell for the gun. the small size of the tank allow it to be unnoticed and the 47mm gun could penetrate 60mm or armor at 550m and 81mm at 180m, the gun had a rate of fire of 15 to 20 rounds per minutes. the gun had an elevation of -13° to +16.5° and an transverse of 34° on each side.

 

 

as the war wasn't going into the favor of France in the early stage, the evidence of the weakness of the french gun became obvious with the German invasion of France in 1940. the need of a better gun was noticed in the early war when France invaded Germany in 1939 but as most of the tank meet by the french in that tank was almost only old Panzer 1 and 2 with a few other weakly armored vehicles, France didn't put enough effort to replace the obsolete gun they was using such as the SA-18 before the real fight against the german. when the German invaded Netherlands and Belgium to ultimately invade France by the back door, the only gun available in France that had a decent effect on the German tank was the 25mm anti-tank gun and the 47mm SA-37 gun. while the 25mm was serving in good number, the SA-37 was rare but by far the most efficient to destroy an armored target. in the hurry, France produced a few Laffly W15T to carry the SA-37 in the battle feild with a good sucess, but too few too late. the last hope to stop the German advance was by finding a way to carry the SA-37 around the battlefield from firing position to another. the Lorraine 37L antichar was design in a hurry with that purpose. using the existing chassis of the Lorraine 37L tractor, the tracked carrier was been mounting the SA-37 and used as a artillery platform to be used in the battlefield. but the conversion was made in early July 1940, a few days before the French surrender. while the Lorraine 37L Antichar was promising and functional, the vehicles was never used in battle.

while the Laffly W15T was faster, it was also bigger and not as good off-road. the Lorraine 37L antichar is a very small vehicles that would be close to the Zis-30 in the game. in game, the good range and penetration of the Lorraine 37L antichar will give to the french a little more fire-power in the open map.

I believe he is staying at the draft stage
I do not have more info on the subject
But I confirm that the Lorraine AC47 existed because it was assembled and tested in the field as a prototype in a single copy.

Six months later and it's still a great suggestion!
France have very few good tanks before tier III, so this should definitely be added and be part of the main tech tree. While it could qualify for premium status, most other countries have a similarly-designed vehicle (ZIS-30, Panzerjäger I, 75 mm M3 GMC) in their main tree. The Lorraine 37L Antichar would be a great help in filling up France's tank-destroyer line.

You have on the left the Lorraine 37L with a Vickers 17 pdr 76 mm gun, and on the right a Renault UE equipped with an 57mm Ordnance QF 6 pdr gun. Both modification were done by the Free French, mainly a certain Galliot, who was a "Commandant" officer.

Reminds me of the VFW or the newer QF 3.7 Ram although it's not an AA gun, would be nice to see it maybe as an event vehicle. It could be quite survivable like its counterparts.
