I have no idea what you are talking about (D point, commander tank) as i NEVER saw any of those...NEVER...dont even know what they can be...

...and even less how it relates with the topic (Airfield Domination in Air battles) ;) but thats a different issue...

 

More seriously...the game wiki needs some updating...

I love airfield domination games. 

I often lose far more planes compared to other modes (capping can be lethal), but loads of kills to make up for that.

It's messy, dirty, hilarious fun, so hands off my beloved airfield dom.

 

Reward for capping can be a bit more, but not too much, because that will result in crazy suicide stuff and even team killing.

 

Great fun in between all the bomb stuff. No surprise...I also love air domination games.

 

Call me odd...that's ok. :p:

Airfield Domination is, hands down, the best game mode there is. Speaking from a nearly pure fighter pilot's perspective.

I am also for keeping it, but please give us an option to turn that mode of for those who don't want to play this mess.

(for the necro complainers and other people with weird hobbies, should I have opened another topic?)

I agree with you on that.

The issue starts when you are flying fast jets.

Slowing down to a speed that doesn't rip you gears off instantly when touching the airfield is not a acceptable strategy for a plane that should at least fly 800+ KM/H  during combat.

When I use jets in AB I hate this style of map.

To be honest I don't like it in general because even for AB it is a weird stretch of realism. 

"Hey Ivan! Enemy plane touched the roll field for 5 seconds ! We need to go."

"Sergei why? The plane is already gone"

"That are the rules Ivan!" 

 

But I know some people like it ( some like Air domination) so why not give the option to opt in or out for certain game modes.

That defeats the point of controlling airspace over the airfields and the spawn.

Just played a Domination session. What a sight. Three and four planes chasing one. No one even trying for ground targets. I gave up after being shot down twice for my efforts.

Capped a strip and everyone ran off, so I get shot down again trying to keep it. Next time I think I'll use my attacker, drop my bombs, if I can, then sit back and watch the insanity.

3 cap domination in air arcade is actually garbage. Don't remove it, because it seems a lot of folks actually like it (mindblown.gif), just separate the queue please. I like the maps with bases and ground units, the new city map is GORGEOUS btw, and super fun :)

 

My previous game was Guild Wars 2, which is pure 3 cap domination, I was generally in the top 200. The only reason I bring the other game up, is because in order to do well there you had to be very map aware and understand how to rotate caps based on where the enemy was or was re-spawning etc... The maps were laid out with travel time from spawns and other caps in mind, there was a flow to the game play. 

 

Coming from that kind of domination to air arcade, 90% of the time I just return to hangar. It's like playing Guild Wars 2 bronze league with bots, I simply cannot deal, sorry fam. First of all, I'm flying - I don't want to land in arcade even if it gives me hojillions of points. I think most people avoid it because it's likely to get them killed, though. So right away, the game mechanics are working against the game mode, you have fast fragile machines and a mode that forces you to go slow/stop and sacrifice your plane to win. Then there's how it's played. Everyone mobs the close point and just waits to 5v1 whoever tries to push it, then whoever sneaks a cap or bombs more grounds wins while everyone just tries to nab a few kills or points before the next match. There's no coordination, and the one out of ten times there is, it's an instant blowout so... fun? Not for me. Glad I have a bunch of crews at different BRs so can always find another match. It must be torture for someone who doesn't want a crew lock. 

 

If they want this mode to work, make the map MUCH larger. Make the "cap" a piece of airspace over an airfield with ai units you have to clear out to start capping, which happens just by flying around in it. Once capped, you can land there if needed and now the cap/base can be defended or you can try to assault another. Right now, the few times I do stick around (when the matchmaker refuses to give me ANYTHING else), I just treat it like team death-match, if we get caps or win, cool. I think a lot of others do too from the flying I see lol.

and you are complaining about clouds and a map that's not suitable for low BR planes!? 

First: please notice the source of the complains are very different!

Second: that "please stop advising players to leave" - was a general request (not only for you!) that I personally think it is a fair request and I standby it. I don't know why you took it personally because I think it was not rude in any way, and I wish I can say the same about

I'm one of those players and I'm not sorry, I despise the mode and I don't want to play it. If they separate the queue it won't be a problem. I think it's rude to expect players to stick around and wreck their deck so their team can steal their kills and ignore objectives. Please refrain from advising people what to think and say or not say? o.O

 

I advise everyone to play several nations so they can always bounce from crap matches, be it AB domination or anything else.  It's your time, your repair fees, and it's supposed to be fun. The day they lock you into matches or start penalizing for leaving beyond the short crew lock (fair imo), is when I bounce from the game. I've  played the lockdown type of pvp games and it just encourages people to get creative in their toxicity and ensure other people don't have fun either. So just sayin' the "solution" is to separate the queues, but failing that, it's not that bad/impactful having people drop versus some of the alternatives, like some rando trying to censor you ;)

Yes I also hate it and would love the option to remove this type of battle
