We've all seen that Gaijin started adding a few CV's and AFVs to the game like the BMP1 and the Begleitpanzer 57, but isnt it time to add another one?

What I'd like to suggest is the addition of the CV9040/56 to the game as a (possibly premium) new combat vehicle.

The CV9040/56 was a project by the Swedish military to make the Stridsfordon 9040 able to combat tanks by adding a dual RB56 launcher to the side of the turret, similar to that of the bradley.

The CV9040/56, except for its two ready RB56 bill launchers also has a 40mm automatic cannon that can fire different types of ammunition such as

APFSDS-T projectiles for tanks and armored vehicles:

Spårljuspansarprojektil 90 (slpprj 90)

Spårljuspansarprojektil 90 Lågkänslig (slpprj 90 LK)

Spårljuspansarprojektil 01 Lågkänslig (slpprj 01 LK)
It also fires a special airburst/explosive projectile used against light vehicles such as helicopters, planes and also infantry:

Kulspränggranat 90 (kulsgr 90)

Kulspränggranat 95 LK

Of course it also has HE in the form of:

Spårljusspränggranat 90 (slsgr 90)

The cv9040/56 would either end up in the german tech tree since that is where a lot of Finnish vehicles have landed or it should end up in the british tech tree for its co-relation with BAE systems.

This vehicle would be somewhat on par with the Begleitpanzer 57 and should end up around the same BR.

CV9040/56:

The reason why I would like to have it added is because I really enjoy playing the begleitpanzer 57 and think its really fun to be able to drive a CV instead of just regular tanks for once, please consider my request.

The specific reason for the Strf9040/56 is because of the ability to fire Missiles to combat heavier armor.

I know you want to add this, gaijin!

Regards, Lonewold.

Open for discussion. :salute:

And corrected your prefix.

I would suggest adding some performance statistics about the vehicle and weapon though.

As of now, this wouldn't be a good addition.... only because there's nowhere to really put it.... I mean maybe the US or UK (both have evaluated them, and Australia is apparently a "potential operator"... so could have it in UK tree because Commonwealth.... but that's it). The nations that actually use this IFV aren't really represented in the game, so unless we get the international tech tree (or maybe a Scandinavian tree) there's no way this can be added. Also love how you used Matsimus' video for this suggestion

UK also has the fact that this vehicle was built in cooperation with BAE going for it.

Whenever we see a Skandinavian tree (which we very well might, since there´s enough unique stuff for it)-hell yes.

That happened quite a bit after this particular version, though. Its also not like they really need it,since they have enough stuff of their own (several Warrior and CVR-T variants for instance).

Now that the Swedish tree is here, suggestions like this that were in limbo can finally find a home. I'd love to see it in the Swedish tree, although frankly I'm not sure how it should be added since the regular no-ATGM version is already an impressively high BR. I could see this being bracketed in with it, or even as a modification for it; personally, I'd kinda prefer it to be its own vehicle just to preserve the uniqueness of the Swedish having the only top-tier IFV whose playstyle doesn't revolve around missiles. This is a good vehicle, and one I'd like to see.

Keep in mind that the one we curretly have is the Strf 9040C, with a composite armor package and an internal gun stablizer. The 9040/56 is based on the 9040A production variant, with no composite armor and an external stabilizer (on the box right of the gun). Thus, the missile variant shouldn't be a modification of the current one.

Another factor to consider is that the RBS 56 ATGM uses a top-attack pattern; that is, the missile uses a proximity fuze to activate its shaped charge above the target, instead of activating on impact like most ATGMs. I'm not sure if this system would be more or less effective ingame than conventional ATGMs.

(The shaped charge is nº3, and is angled down by 30º. From valka.cz)

I think it should be in the tree before the 9040C, maybe without the top APFSDS to make it slightly different.

This would be a clear BR 10,3 or even higher. The base vehicle is a Strf 9040B so it has more or less the same performance as the Strf 9040C in game. It was also was tested from 2001 until ca 2003 which means it has access to the 40 mm slpprj m/01 APFSDS projectile found on the Strf 9040C in game. That would at the very least put it at 10.0. But on top of that it has access to top-attack missiles which can derp kill anything behind cover with ease. The BILL ATGM, which in the video is actually a BILL-2, or RB56B in the Sweden, has two penetrators, one initial charge with over 220 mm of pen designed to kill ERA and one secondary charge with over 510 mm of pen designed to blow out the entire turret. This would make it extremely effective in game against even tanks with protected roofs.

That is the BILL-1 with a single charge angeled 30 degrees forward. The BILL-2 has 2 charges of which both are angled 90 degrees downward.

I heard some time ago that Gaijin was interested in adding it. It should at the very least be considered by them as it is more conventional than the Strf 9040C.

It does however lack the composite of the in-game vehicles and still has hullbreak. I'm also of the opinion that 10.0 is too high a BR as it is for Strf 90 with just the autocannon. For balance reasons you can give it just the older APFSDS to make it more reliant on the ATGM's.

Also are we sure it's a BILL 2? I've heard it's just a BILL 1 launcher.

Glad to see this being added to the game :)

Hope to see a early Strf/CV 90(A/B) in the future.

And any other CV90 that they can add in the future :)

Same with the Ikv 91 that they used as a test bed for CV90.

Spoiler

Could be a nice prem vehicle :)

Why not make a suggestion post to bring more attention to that? Cause I'd like to see that in the game in the future.

So.. why does this not have a stabilizer in live release?

Currently, it shows in XRAY and in vehicle info that it has a two axis stabilizer, but in-game the stabilizer cuts off at about 5 km/h?
