Was wondering, what is that "controls;xxxxx" message that pops up at bottom of screen about 10:14?

I only ask because I'm a control files nut...have to be since I use full controls in ab:-)

As I posted earlier, @____B00K3NDS____'s video is a fine example of good flying. However, better ones for most of us (or at least for me) to learn from would feature planes that are not the highest rated in a game. For example, correct me if I’m wrong, but I think that most if not all of Paul tx141’s videos show him flying at mid or low BR compared to the rest of a game’s players. Still, this post is about achieving the highest scores, and that tends to be done by good players flying a game’s highest rated plane.

Totally agree, also the gap between the top players and the lower players skill/battle awareness is laughable. i have lost count of the number of games where my imbecile teammates climb straight into the 109 cloud above them, and they know its there as usually they have already lost their preceding 4 or 5 planes doing exactly the same thing. The big man clubbing the spawn in his f4 should not feel good about himself, but the same thing in a whirlwind {seen it done} is an achievement.

well yes but at least you wouldn't be just basically throwing yourself in front of his guns! Dive on him, don't miss, at least put a few rounds into him, dive away. If you could get a couple people doing that he wouldn't get 38 kills in one game because at least he would have to spend time evading people. As it is people are just flying right in front of his guns, or at least not doing anything to get away from him. If you watch the video you will see him make a short attack on a 109, and that player got away from the initial attack and he (book3nds) left him alone. He (book3nds) doesn't have any interest in diving after one player and taking himself out of optimum attack position. Why go after 1 player when you have 3 or 4 lined up to be killed? Now quite a few of the planes he shoots down were not actually capable FM wise to get away from him, but several of them are but don't. So don't be that guy! If you were in a real battle and saw one plane doing that much damage, and your life was actually on the line, would you just fly straight ahead and wait for your turn? Or would you run and live? The most important thing that book3nds has mastered is knowing how to attack the maximum number of planes without taking himself out of position.

My only response is...if I know a camper is lurking...I won't even attempt if I am not in the right position. Does it bother me that he gets away with it, sure.

Book3nds has edited some files to give  custom kill message and  custom kill feed messages. Some of the UI gets broken with every update. He has just not redone his editing to fix that

As I was reading through this thread a thought came to mind which I think summarises your comment if you were to compare @____B00K3NDS____ and myself to pilots during WW2.

 

I would argue that our aforementioned colleague is akin to Erich Hartmann. The Ace of Aces who pushes things to the limit and consistently achieves scores that many would dream of.

 

Meanwhile I would compare myself (excuse my immodesty) to Eric Brown, the test pilot who intends to fly as many types of aircraft available in game as possible, occasionally achieving a high score (it has been over two years since I managed to reach 20+ in a single plane!) but more so focused on giving what insights I can.

Only thing is I didn't want to include screenshots. I feel they don't tell enough of how the result was achieved. Do you have any idea on how we could cooperate?

Well awesome! I think you may very well oust many of the current record holders with any of the planes in the game. For example, the highest score I found on video for the Bf 109 G-10 is my low 17-0, which currently sits between yours 25 and 31 with the G-6 and G-14 .

 

Have you ever tried to do something similar with the more difficult to fly planes? Such as japanese twin engine fighters or the russian heavies?

Yes, but I only have screenshots of them, and I know you’re only collecting videos. I don’t save any games without very high kill numbers, but since you’re collecting only videos now, I could go and get videos of 10-20 kills in most fighter planes in the game.
