PartizannBanditn 186 Report post Posted May 24, 2018 (edited) I am not involved in this whole squib thing that much so i got a question. Was there ever some talk about the ability to draw disappearing lines on the tactical map? It really helps in a different game and i think it would be a great tool in squibs at least. Even in random battles id like to be able to visually communicate at least with my squad. Also, it might help with the language barrier for you international squadrons or players that avoid using the mic for whatever reason. I can see it could get abused or spammed in random if everyone on your team sees what you draw but if only my squad sees it this would be avoided. Maybe i just like graphs and clear visual instructions but i thought its worth a question. NAM_Biohazard 114 Report post Posted May 24, 2018 I like this idea but would advise you to move it to the suggestions forum not here. If you want a response for it.
PartizannBanditn 186 Report post Posted May 24, 2018 O no, i was just asking if it was addressed before. Last thing i want to do is get into any kind of conversation with gaijin representatives if i dont have to. No point in that from my experience. DeKrieg 1,290 Report post Posted May 25, 2018 There are not a lot of squibs only features in war thunder. So to take such a suggestion forward it would be best to phrase it in a way that it can be functional outside of just squadron battles. The issue though with the suggestion for wider use is frankly most players in war thunder are pricks and being able to draw lines etc would get abused to no end, people drawing swastikas and dicks all over the minimap. Best way is to push it as a squads feature. So you can draw on the map but only you and those in your squad can see it. That would make it open for use in squadron battles but also world war mode and standard realistic/arcade etc. But then in standard matchmaking you have the risk of being randomly squaded up with strangers and we are back to the whole dicks and swastikas situation. Problem number 2 is to make the information work across two maps Its actually a longer running wider issue that the air forces use a different map then ground forces, it makes it bloody difficult to rely info between the two groups beyond pinging. But throw in drawing lines etc and you'll have an issue with scale, the air map is always scaled out more then the ground map so anything a tanker might draw would look tiny on the plane map and anything the pilot might draw will be too large on the tank map. So perhaps before they get to the ability of adding info to the maps perhaps a basic system to put everyone on the same map with the same grid references might be a start. Or at least give people the ability to switch between the two maps easily.
PartizannBanditn 186 Report post Posted May 25, 2018 I dont think total war arena players are much more mature then average wt player. I didnt play it long but from what i saw you do get an occasional biggus dickus, it looks like that joke died quickly. Also treat it like chat, complaints and whatever they have for that would br applicable here too. But ye, squad only at least at first. The lines disappear before you can write words longer then 2-3 letters. Also id argue the planes dont really need it other then for spotting. The main purpose of this would be easier communications of the battle plan on the ground, you know "hold this, flank that, cover this etc." Anyways I was just asking if there was a discussion about this at some point. Looks like an obvious thing to implement or at least bring up in a game like wt.
