Top 20 Fastest Planes/Jets In The Game At Sea Level - Tier 5

A simple guide to help people out when picking their top tier jets. Why am I making this? Besides wanting to help out - stat cards are very deceptive and should not be trusted! 

 

Note #1: top speed in a jet is very important, but it's not everything. For example, the top speed of the MiG-15bis is good, though it's not something compared to the ones higher on the list, but it has excellent acceleration, rate of climb and energy retention characteristics.

 

Note #2: this list is based off my long experience in jet battles and testings that I had done to ensure everything is correct. They were conducted a few inches above the water, believe it or not, a few meters more above sea level affect the top speed. For example the FJ-4B reaches about 1,089 km/h at 100 meters and 1,094 (barely) at 5 meters.

 

Top speeds at sea level (SPADED PERFORMANCE)

 

1. Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-17 - 1,121 km/h (696.5 mph)

2. Canadair CL-13A Mk.5 Sabre - 1,113 km/h (691.6 mph)

3. Hawker Hunter F.1 - 1,108 km/h (688.5 mph)

4. North American F-86F Sabre - 1,104 km/h (685 mph)

5. Lavochkin La-200 - 1,100 km/h (683.5 mph)

6. Sud-Aviation Vautour IIA - 1,099 km/h (682.9 mph)

7. Sud-Aviation Vautour IIB - 1,097 km/h (681.6 mph)

8. North American FJ-4B Fury - 1,094 km/h (679.7 mph)

9. North American F-86A-5 Sabre - 1,090 km/h (677.3 mph)

10. Fiat G.91 R/1 - 1,085 km/h (674.2 mph)

11. Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-15bis - 1,076 km/h (668.6 mph)

12. Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-15 - 1,054 km/h (655 mph)

13. Dassault MD.452 Mystére IIC pre-production - 1,044 km/h (648.7 mph)

14. Grumman F9F-8 Cougar - 1,040 km/h (646 mph)

15. Messerschmitt Me 262 C-2b (boosters on) - 1,036 km/h (643.7 mph)

16. Dassault MD.452 Mystére IIA - 1,033 km/h (641.8 mph)

17. de Havilland Venom FB.4 - 1,026 km/h (637.5 mph)

18. Yakovlev Yak-30 - 1,029 km/h (639.4 mph)

19. Fiat G.91 pre-serie - 1,016 km/h (631.3 mph)

20. Messerschmitt Me 262 C-1a (boosters on) - 1,008 km/h (626.3 mph)

 

If needed, I'll make it a top 20. I can do that since I have every jet researched  

Update: It will become a top 30 when I get around to it.

Yet, the G.91 and La-200 are still 8.0 although their maneuverability and climb rates are above average Go figure

To be fair stat card speeds are pretty dishonest: Arado 850 km/h top speed, easily goes 900 in a dive. Il-28 900 top speed and rips before reaching it.

I thought that “top speed” meant top speed in level flight at maximum power.  So, not talking about diving speed or the “never exceed” speed (Vne).  The top speed can be faster than Vne, but you might pay to go that fast with your life.

You are right and the other user mixed them up

This is a good chart for starters, but you should really try another chart at say 4k, or 5k.     Its there you will find major differences in these aircraft.  Even higher so that people understand... unless you true out at altitude ahead of time, you're never going to catch a Vatour at altitude.  Power > Speed.

That would be weird if that's the case, as jet combat regularly takes place on deck

I tested the Yak-30's top speed again. At 80 meters with 112% throttle, I reached 1,029 km/h and maintained it.

Well.. the title of the thread is for Tier 5 jets, the new ones which have been added are all in the 6th rank of aircraft.

Not For G-91 

 

The G-91 are capable of turning at low speed but it cannot at high speed 

 

but i don't think the La-200 can do a sustained turn rate
