DESCRIPTION

This is the version of the TRM 2000 truck with a PAMELA Mistral launcher platform.

The Renault TRM 2000 is a French military vehicle all-wheel drive designed for support missions in difficult terrain. The truck was introduced in March 1981 and production began in 1982. The TRM 2000 can carry 2 tons of payload, including shelters (hard shelters on the plateau) of 10 or 15 feet. Its GVWR is 6.3t. It has double gantry cranes. Its load limit ramp is 50% and its slope is 30%. He can make wading passages of eighty centimeters. In the French army, the TRM 2000 has replaced the tactical vans Simca Marmon and Saviem TP3.

PAMELA Weapon System (Plate-forme d’Adaptation MISTRAL, Équipée Légère et Aérotransportable) The Pamela weapon system (very short range air-to-air weapon system or SATCP) is a platform mounted on a tactical vehicle like ACMAT TPK4.25-STL or TRM 2000 for the French and Unimog 1350L for the Belgians.

The two vehicles are similar, however, the TRM 2000 has a center of gravity higher than the VLRA TPK 4.25 STL limiting its mobility in all terrains However, it is more manageable He is in service within the artillery regiments (54 RA 57 RA 402 ° RAA) It is a missile SATCP MISTRAL of the type "draws and forgets". intended for the surface-to-air coverage of the former CBM regiments (armored and mechanized corps) by neutralizing the aerial threat of gears moving at altitudes of 10m and 3000m at a speed of Mach 1,2 as well as helicopters in motion or hovering. To which he is guided by a passive infrared autodirector and has a laser proximity rocket. It can reach up to 15 km thanks to its NC1 coordination and acquisition system. A section covers +/- 300 km2 Developed by Matra BAé Dynamics, he is ready to shoot inside a container. The tripod made by MBD, removable in two burdens, allows the shot on the ground Description

HISTORY BACKGROUND

The TRM 2000 is part of these vehicles that haunt the barracks of our armies, and for good reason, more than 30 years after its presentation, the last representatives of the TRM 2000 are still in service! Zoom on one of the beasts of the army.

In the 1970s, the tactical vans of the French army are Simca Marmon or Saviem TP3 to name the best known. These vehicles are very popular because, small, light and all-terrain, they can transport men and equipment to the nearest hostilities, whatever the nature of the ground, and in the shortest time. It was in the mid-1970s, as the Simca Marmon and Saviem TP3 began to age that the General Staff initiates a program of modernization of these tactical trucks, and contacted the French truck manufacturers to meet its needs. This is how the TRM 2000 is born, this truck is presented in March 1981 to the public, the army had already ordered several thousand units. Indeed, the TRM 2000 was noted for its ability to cross: it can cross fords of 80cm, climb slopes of 50% loaded and may experience a slope of 30%. Needless to hide it, the TRM 2000 is a real 4 × 4 ( TRM means Toutes Roues Motrices or All Wheel Drive, 2.000 the transportable weight).

For its design, the TRM 2000 takes again the cabin of the Saviem JK, moreover, on the pictures of the first "prototypes", one notices that the grille is still badged Saviem and that the fires are still incorporated there. On the version presented in 1981, then put into production, the grille is adorned more than the diamond, the Saviem logo is traded against a Renault monogram taking place under the windshield. When the headlights, they migrate from the grille to the bumper.

In addition to its crossing capabilities, the TRM 2000 can carry up to 2.5 tons of payload on uneven terrain. The TRM 2000's chassis was designed just as well to accommodate troop transport trays (12 + 3 soldiers), as well as to accommodate shelters of various kinds. In the engine compartment, there is a four-cylinder in line MAN original, equipped with a turbo, a set that develops 117HP. As for the gearbox, it is necessarily very short to promote the best couple for off-road use. Thus, the TRM 2000 caps quickly, its maximum road speed is given for 89km / h, it goes to 43km / h on rough terrain. Finally, the consumption of this vehicle is given for 20 to 23 liters per 100km, with a 130 liter tank, this gives the TRM 2000 a range of around 600km.

In the end, 5,600 units of the TRM 2000 will have been produced during the career of this vehicle, whose production stops in 1990. The construction of the TRM 2000 was done at the RVI factory in Blainville, Calvados, on the basis of a volume of 1,500 units per year, since it is 12,000 vehicles that would have been ordered, but in the end, production will be half less. In the meantime, Renault has offered the armies a Torpedo version of the TRM 2000, no doubt to allow the vehicle to be air transportable.

Strong of the crossing qualities of the TRM 2000, RVI declined a civilian version to the shorter chassis, which was used in number by firefighters, but also, among others, at EDF.

  • 1 year later...

Sorry but I said no to this, sure it's in service and certainly very usefull for close range AA duty but in WT it's not gonna do well, crew is not protected and exposed, the big chunky thing between the tripod and the driver cabine might be the ammo rack making a great spot to shoot and detonate, btw we don't have info on how many AAM it could take, and even if it's safe place to put missiles I don't escpect this to be strong enough to protect them from heatfs, apfsds, or anything stronger than a 7.5mm bullet...

I am sorry but this is going to be useless in war thunder.

It is completely open top

only has one missile

no radar

If you want Mistrals, you have the VAB ESD TA20 with its pods.

Larger thing like the Crotale NG on LRU would be even better.

Tbh I think that one could be much lower in BR than the others you listed that would all be 10.0+, just because of the lack of armament and survivability, and because it doesn’t get any secondary armament.

a fire an forget missile at lower br? most of the time AAM and SAM system sit between 9.0 - 10.0 (maybe except some early jets with early AAMs) the Mistral is around 9.3 with the Gazelle helicopters. The missile while being a single mount is still powerful, the mobility is okay but the protection and rate of fire will make it hard to balance imo

Yes, I was thinking of a 9.0 BR, which would differentiate it enough from the 9.7 Roland. Keep in mind the Mistral in its current state is easy to dodge, and the fact that it only has one ready to fire mistral will make it an easy prey while its reloading.
