"Missile Launched" Indicator Yes or No?

Do you believe that top tier Air Realistic should have the "Missile has been Launched" warning? Or do you think that players at tier 5 and 6 should be expected to watch their tails and see the missile themselves? Lets discuss.

Why is the warning back in-game? It was perfect on the dev server and it was perfect last week on the live client with no missile warning.

 

The Poll with an overwhelming 88% in favor of removing the missile warning is a testament to this.

 

Would it be possible to revert this change and remove it again?

Missiles were finally useful yet still not game-breaking for a while. You needed more skill by having to keep checking your six to make sure to evade any incoming missile. Now you get a warning from over 2 km away, and you can evade them by turning to the left or right a bit, they are pretty useless now. The only way to get kills with them currently is to pray the player you're hoping to kill is either afk or lacking attention to the warning. Remember the R-3S and AIM-9B pull only 6G maximum, the R-13M pulls 7G and the AIM-9E pulls 10G. They are easily dodged.

there have been some that want it disabled, there are others that want it enabled....

 

Polls here do not count really, since you only have something like 0.001% of the community voting in them... meanwhile, you never hear from those that are happy enough with it enabled..... it is early days, patch is just being rolled out.... so, just have to see how testing goes... as with many things, Devs have turned on/off popular/unpopular mechanics before

 

So no need for some to fly off the handle this early....

 

 

 

Pass on a suggestion to the developers to get a missile lock or warning light.

Seriously Gaijin, why? It's a stupid crutch for players who aren't paying attention. You have to be so close, and missiles are so easily spoofed that it just makes a mockery of them. Without the warning on the dev server is was actually fun, people who were oblivious got punished for it but now we're back where we were before.

 

The change was greeted with overwhelming posititivty on the dev server discussion thread. Why go against all of that? Hell even members of your own moderation team shared this opinion that giving players a crutch to survive where they should otherwise be dead is just not welcome in the top tier of gameplay.

 

Put it in arcade fine, but we don't want this rubbish in realistic modes.

None of the sabres had RWR, the only aircraft with RWR's at the moment are the choppers... that being said IR missiles GIVE NO WARNING.

 

Only modern jets are able to detect IR launches and even those only work within certain angles.

 

Simply, no jet in the game should get a warning of a passive IR missile launch as things stand.

I can agree that the missile warning isn't good for RB.  Out of 20-30 launches I've scored 2 kills + 1 guy who bailed out after I launched at him (probably because he saw the warning).  Right now a completely untrained pilot can detect the missile in only 2 seconds.  For a missile launched at ~2.5km (well within the AIM-9's operating range) it took 7 seconds to reach the target, meaning the guy I was shooting at had 5 seconds to outmaneuver the missile, plenty of time to easily escape.  With a fully trained crew you can get the warning delay down to 0.5 seconds, almost instant notification you've been fired on.  It's pretty overpowered to be able to easily thwart missiles like that.

 

I'd also add that missiles aren't hard to manually spot.  I'm playing on a 32" 1080p TV and I had no trouble seeing a missile launched at me before, it's not like you need a massive 4K display to see it.  Just watch for the contrails and a bright white reflection and you won't fail to spot them.

mhm... It literally just takes lazily shifting like 2 degrees in any angle to break AIM-9b missile locks.... I even fired on an F-100 who was stall climbing after a team-mate and somehow my missile still couldnt track him from 2.5km away.... I came into the new "top tier jet meta" thinking that AA missiles on the Sabres will make them better equipped to fight top tier jets that can out everything them... I was dead wrong when I bought the premium JASDF F-40 sabre.... out of the 4 or 5 games I have already, I fired 6 AA missiles and only got 1 kill due to a head on.

Who is "the players" mentioned by them?

I do agree to the points that have been given by you guys. During the time when the missile warnings were removed I find that the games in tier 6 were super enjoyable even when I was the one getting shot down by a missile as I didn't even know he was there due to being tunnel visioned to the target in front of me. And sometimes when i fired a missile at an a group of enemy trailing one friendly and get a kill, its extremely enjoyable.

 

I thought that having the warnings turned off was a counter to the T2 in addition to having AIM 9E. But I was wrong. To be honest I grinded out the AIM 9E hoping to see if I was right, but their effectiveness were the same as AIM 9B . I feel that their overload limit of 10G is not true at all as at those speeds and range, i think enemy plane would rip their wings. Maybe I am wrong on that but I feel that missiles warnings need to be removed again for them to be effective in shooting down planes.

No warnings. This is "realistic" battles after all.

Planes don't get a warning for IR missiles IRL either.

This is as bad as the enemy markers are in this mode, if not worse.

 

I don’t even need to play Jets to realize how bad any sort of warning indicator for someone tailing you and launching a missile is.

I was hoping that missiles would make the F9F-8 one of the few worthwhile 8.0-8.3 planes. That has not been the case.

 

It could've been if missile launches didn't have warnings(unless the plane had such equipment.) It'd give the F9F-8 a more supportive role, as well as other "lacking" planes with missiles such as the Javelin. They'd be able to pick off runners or pursuers as to make up for their lack of sustained dogfighting capability.

 

Currently, people aren't even using them as weapons, but to force a plane to turn. This has jets being even more of a furballing cesspit(if that's even possible to imagine.) The lack of tactical gameplay options is one of the issues in jets, imo. The constant rolling scissors and dogfights are fun when it's one on one, but when there is no other way of playing, it's just a mess.

I prefer the missile warning as is. It was bad enough dealing with multiple targets and having to avoid random missiles with only 3 planes carrying them. Now i have to worry with 10 or so more planes slinging missiles. I really don’t see them as a primary weapon and i don’t think they should be at this point.
