Steam related login issue

I'm speaking on behalf of a friend.

 

So his old account is banned and for some reason steam is insistant on logging into that account, usually wouldnt be a problem but the autolog feature is enabled and it gets caught in this weird login then logoff loop which is preventing him from being able to log into his non-banned account and play the game. He has tried spamming the old ESC key but to no avail....

 

I post this in the steam related issues because his is the steam download and he seems to think its a linking issue, he's not sure if he accidentally linked the game last night.

 

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

does running the launcher.exe in the WT game folder (or the aces.exe in the ..\War Thunder\win64\  folder)

directly instead of running the game from Steam solve the issue ?!

 

a somewhat 'technical' way to disable the auto login

the auto login can be disabled by editing one of the game configuration files as well... open the machine.blk

(located in c:\users\<username>\Documents\My Games\WarThunder\Saves\{unique_id}\production\ ) with a

text editor (like notepad, wordpad, editor etc) and look for the following line:

 

      USEROPT_AUTOLOGIN:b=yes

 

change / edit the yes to know, save & exit.... now when starting the game there should (hopefully ^^) a login

screen again... (before editing any files a backup of the files should be done ofc)

Creating an alternate account if you have been previously removed is a violation of the TOS that you agreed to when you created your account.
