  1. 1. Would you like to see the East-German T-10 (any version) being added to War Thunder?

    • Yes, but only with Warsaw-pact match-maker for RB/SB!

This should of been there in today's devblog instead of that American M48. Germany actually needs a new heavy tank to replace what they've just lost not another medium. We can only hope to see this tank in the next couple of patches.

Well, this is a pretty controversial idea (since they desisted from purchasing it in the last possible moment), but this could fill the void in the German techtree after the paper tiger's departure.

I wouldn't be against it as a premium or something like that, however I feel there's still options for German tanks that could replace the Tiger II 105. Generally I don't think unmodified purchased vehicles should be in the main research tree unless they're absolutely needed and there's no way to avoid it. There's already things like the HT No. VI in game so I'm not against it as a premium even if it wasn't used, but since it's not modified with German tech I really don't feel it belongs in the researchable line.

all for it.

being the very base model of T-10 lacking the beefy engine, stabilizer, or modern ammo , the Panzer X would both serve as a suitable replacement for the Maus (not that it needs removal to begin with) as the Maus was always the intended counterpart to the IS-4. the good ol' thicc armor meta that people really like but that gaijin really can't be fast enough at tossing out the window like an unloved nephew.

Well, the Panzer X is kind of it's own special case. Not only was it supposed to be adopted and canceled in the last second, but Germany now has no researchable heavy tanks at all that go higher in BR than 6.7. I would say the T-10 is "absolutely needed" as you say and therfore I think it would be the best replacement for the Tiger II 10,5cm or at this point, rather the best replacement for the Maus.

There are zero other options, since all other German heavy tanks would be either paper or complete fantasy. As far as German heavy tanks are concerned, the Panzer X is as real as it gets.

Added some more info, pictures, schematics and a small mention of the T-10 obr. 1960 with IR-equipment.

Updated the info on ammunition.

The T-10 actually was only fielded with BR-471B APHEBC as armor-piercing option until 1964, when a HEAT shell was introduced, however since east-Germany ordered ammo for it as early as 1959 this means the top shell for the Panzer X would only have 205mm of penetration, meaning it would make an excellent rank V BR 7.7 replacement for the Maus!

This is assumed the DDR wouldn't have purchased additional ammunition as time gone on? Obviously we don't know because they cancelled at the last minute but I believe either the BR-472 or 3BK-10 are suitable enough as re-searchable modules. This however is up to the developer's choice of implementation. With the Chinese getting both American and Soviet influenced armored vehicles in the same tree without separate matchmaking, I believe any future DDR vehicles should be welcomed as direct additions to the German tree.

That is of course true!

By the way, I made a non-M T-10 suggestion (along with the 10A and 10B variants),

as mentioned the Panzer X lacks a stabiliser, so it should be the original T-10 like this one?

If so, what would be nice is if they are willing to add an East German line, adding the T-10 regular can outright mean they can add two T-10s at once.

Also, I think this could be more of a Maus replacement than a Tiger 105 perhaps, since it would be closer to the Maus BR than the Tiger 105.

Yes it would most likely be the original T-10 obr. 1953 and I agree that it would be the Maus replacement, though it would probably be in the same line as the M48A2C anyway, so it would not really matter what vehicle it would specifically replace, since the M48 is already coming tomorrow.

Now with the BMP-1 being added for Germany, I feel like this could really become reality. It would be a great post-war heavy tank, that Germany is lacking right now.

@leroyonly I have updated the suggestion to include the T-10, T-10A and T-10B, since the actual version is not described in the sources, therefore east-Germany could have theoretically adopted any of those three variants and it would be up to the devs (if they would allow such a what if vehicle) to choose the variant.

+1 but they should bring back the Tiger II 10.5 cm

Thanks for the support, although I doubt we'll ever see the Tiger II 10,5cm return. It's not even a paper-vehicle, but rather, Gaijin's own creation based on multiple upgrade suggestions for the Tiger II, meaning, fantasy. The T-10, T-10A or T-10B would be a more historical replacement for the two heavy tanks we lost, since it seems actual documents about the orders from east-Germany exist, we just don't have access to them yet.

I do agree that the german tech tree has been left bare bones after the panther 2 and etc were removed, but i also dont agree with copy paste vehicles (coz , u know, sim battles exist)

to me this is the same as giving the British an E-100 and giving a Maus to the Soviet tech tree.

I do want these in game but not in the german tree, they will become problematic to say the least.

Im sorry but -1

Update to the document situation. I have been able to find the name and location of the document, which supposedly contains information about the plans of acquiring these tanks for the NVA. I will try to make my way to the archive to read through it as soon as I have enough time to do so. Stay tuned! :salute:
