Ok that's a bit more hopeful sounding.

So it's the Go-To for F2Ps... hmmm. I don't play many F2Ps other than War Thunder so I'll have to concede my concerns to those with more experience.

Yeah, EAC is widely used, there won't be any significant number of false positives.

I've been playing multiplayer games a looooooong time, and I know from experience that almost every time someone says they were banned by a false positive, they're lying. Don't give those people the benefit of the doubt, false positives with third-party anti-cheat are rare as hell.

@blackheart1996 are there any known issues with this software with PS4 accounts being played on PC?

Having a ps4 account on a pc will not affect your gameplay with EAC

Thanks!

And I guess no problems also for PS4(or Xbox) players playing on their consoles against players using this software, right?

Can we finally have an official word on sound mods and custom hangars? I'm very concerned as I use both Epic Thunder as well as a custom hangar in game. Those are the only modifications made, and for years now they've been fine. Now we've got a system actively searching for modified game files I'm concerned that I'll get banned and Gaijin will have the excuse that they've never given such things the green light, they've just turned a blind eye up until now.

Naturally, I'm going to remove Epic Thunder and revert to the stock hangar prior to 1.91 just in case, and see if anyone else braver than I will report on such a thing, but this isn't exactly the most comforting news in that regard.

can anyone confirm if editing the config file will trigger EAC or better yet will adding the line hooks:b=yes to the config file trigger EAC as this is the only method in allowing Rivatuner overlay to work so I can cap my frame rate as there is no frame rate cap built into the game.

We will get back to you with this! The more questions the better. We understand some softwares have certain methods of recording and frame capping, such as fraps and OBS.

There is going to be a lot of false bans and this is going to blow up in Gaijin's face. The forums are going to go nuclear.

GJ already used this with Crossout and Cuisine Royal, so they are not new to this service.

That we know, but These games are different for the fact they dont really allow mod support on the scale war thunder does. and if any anti cheat is to go by there will be false positives. Destiny 2 had this issue on release with PC. Rainbow Six Siege with numerous false positive and even The Division 2 (which uses EAC) with false positives, not as major as the other 2 but you get everyone's concern. We just hope Gaijin has tested most of the 'worst case' scenarios such as specific sound mods that people have been using because not everyone knows what is within said files even if its labelled as a 'sound mod' who knows.

I think for something like this Gaijin need to be very vocal and active on this discussion (all the way upto 1.91) as to not lead a numerous number of players down a ban list because it will paint a bad picture for Gaijin after the recent #fixthegame movement

Not everyone, not even I knew that.

NONE of the volunteers (TM, forums, GM, etc) knew this was coming, nearly all know nothing about this, and BlackHard1996 was nice enough to post what he knew.

Will see when 1.91 Dev goes live.

Unless it is disclosed what exactly it monitors on my PC, which data it sends back home, and which parties beyond they themselves and Gaijin are able to access any of this data, that's gonna be the point where I uninstall War Thunder after over 3700hrs played.

Reading the privacy policy linked on EAC's site gives me the shivers. It's generic and vacuous as all hell, containing lines like:

Quote

We also may share certain limited information, such as device identifiers, with advertisers and other marketing partners for purposes of gauging the effectiveness of advertising and other marketing strategies.

-and-

We may share information about you with your social network contacts when you and they use the same social features of our games and applications.

Thankfully, GDPR absolutely gives me the right to know which data is collected and where it goes to, and I have thus sent an email to their email adress for privacy concerns yesterday. Should they not answer, refuse to answer the questions or answer unspecifically, then I will absolutely bring this up with the institutions responsible for monitoring GDPR infractions in both my own country and Luxembourg, where Epic's bureau responsible for non-US-citizens is located. I will happily share their answer with you when it arrives.

I have never cheated in any multiplayer game ever, I have been annoyed by and reported cheaters all the time and as recently as during Operation HEAT, where a 4-man squad from the same clan was very obviously aimbotting in naval battles, but I do take my privacy seriously enough that I will uninstall any software as soon as I see it as being overly intrusive, no matter how long I have been using the software before.

It depends on whether the RGB software dabbles with the game client. If it doesn't, it won't give you any troubles

That means an interactive RGB system which reflects happenings in the game by color can be a reason for a ban?

And what should I do in this case?

Wait RGB system for changing colour on CPU cooler?

Hmmm... My FX8350 cooler goes through colours itself, but I dont have any programs installed for that

Getting a kick reading posts in some of the War Thunder hacking support forums. All the cheaters who will soon be leaving us honest players alone...

"I sincerely hope that the admin isn't going to quit on this. And all those who used and enjoyed his services (and I know there are a lot of you out there, even though you prefer to remain silent) should encourage him, even through donations, to continue this project. Come on out and say it; you're not seriously intending to quit on it now, aren't you? I'm sure you don't want to."

"It would be extremely sad to just give up like that. I hope the Admin steps up his efforts as this is also a chance for him to earn more money for a more complex cheat.
Please Admin, don't quit on us!"

"I should have seen this cheat earlier. I can't quit playing war thunder since I found (redacted)... I'm so depressed."

"Sadly, Admin: Since intend to introduce anti-cheat, I recommend that you refrain from shopping, there will be no updates."

"Yea I would say dont use (redacted) once 1.91 drops. It has no anticheat bypass since war thunder currently dont have an anticheat. EAC is a sneaky anticheats, when 1.91 assume (redacted) is detected even if you dont get banned, they will be collectinging a list of players who cheat and will do a huge ban wave like what they did with apex legends"

"Yeah, I thought Gaijin is never going to introduce some sort of anticheat, after 6 years"

"Time to git gud I guess."

LOL

p.s. edited out specific names where needed with a '(redacted)'

For years we were told there was no cheating in War Thunder, for it was impossible and everything was calculated server side. Yet if we suspected foul play we could report, off course we did and finally in the beginning of 2017 publication of banned accounts started as a deterrent.

Apparently the nonexistent problem now has brought Gaijin to the point anti cheat software has to be present on systems running the game.

Better late than never...
