The Stug III Ausf. G mit 2 cm Flak 38 was a Modification ordered by Oberbefehlshaber Schwab. (see top left of photos)

I would like to see it as a Modification for the Stug III Ausf. G as a new vehicle. But only the 20 mm Flak 38 not the thin extra plates for the Commanders copula.

I could unfortunately find no Documents to that exept 4 Glass negatives (owned by Akira Takiguchi)

The last one looks "Fake" because of added paint on the glass for security purposes ( other side of the picture 1 )

The 2cm Flak 38 would perform the same like in game and would have a Ap-I Hei-T Ap-I Hei-T  belt because of ballance and use against planes and

light ground vehicles

Cince the Stug III Ausf. G has only 11 mm of top armor (Should be 17mm tho) it is very Vulnerable to planes.

With this modification you can compare the Stug III Ausf. G (4.0) with the American M10 (4.0) Both are about 40 kmph , have similar gun performance , are vurnerable to planes but have a powerfull secondary armarment against Planes and Light ground vehicles.

Dr. Otto Schwab's Personal Records shows that he was:

Insp. SS-V.T.(3): 09.11.1939
SS-Führ.H.-Amt Kdo.Amt d. W-SS: 18.12.1940
SS-Führungs-Hauptamt, Amt.V: 21.01.1942
Kommandeur d.SS-Art. Meßschule Glau I: 20.04.1942
Kommandeur d.SS-Art.Schule I und Vertr.d.Chef.d.SS-FHA i.d.Amtsgruppe A: 01.03.1943

He was born in Geiß Nidda, Kreis Oberhessen. He attended Techn.Hochschule Darmstadt from 1908 to 1914 (Dipl.Ex, Dr.Ing.1933).

He was awarded the German Cross in Silver (Kriegsorden des Deutschen Kreuzes in Silber) on 12.11.1944 as Chef des Technischen Amtes der Waffen-SS. Schwab didn't need to see combat to receive this award - the German Cross in Silver was, "awarded for honorable military service in the execution of the war effort, while the German Cross in Gold was awarded for outstanding achievement in combat." (Angolia: For Führer and Fatherland - Military Awards of the Third Reich, p.328).

John P. Moore's "Führerliste der Waffen-SS" shows him still as Kommandeur SS-Art.Schule I in February, 1945.

I would absolutely love to see such a tank being added, it would be a very capable tank-destroyer with a great secondary armament. You have all my support with this one! +1 :yes_yes_yes:

Yes,

maybe have some diversity as well—

StuG III (above), in game.

> Adds LMG

StuG III/Late

Maybe no LMG at all?  Also since it would be very, very slightly better than the one in game, yet questionable if it should be increased in BR, the lack of MG could be a minor compensating factor for it being the same battle rating.

Then of course, StuG III mit 2cm,

adds a cannon.

[Then StuG IV hopefully]

Ok, we have a testbed vehicle here ~43.

It has mounted a ‘one crew’ 20mm flak slightly offset to the left (port side) on the engine deck. If it had a central mount it could not pivot so mount has to be right beneath the gun pintle which means the gunner has to turn the gun left and right using feet giving it some … what…~ 110 degree front firing arc? Oh, and the StuG vehicle commander definitely needs a helmet here.

Ammo positioning is an issue due to rear deck space restraints. Remember the crew of the StuG also have a life, though not seen here. Besides trying to fit more then one crew on the deck any assisting loader will fall off when the gunner starts to turn about.

Gun also lacks graded elevation gear and sights for air targets so even if it’s a flak gun its clearly mounted for ground support. Sorry, no AA here…

Now a StuG is made to survive high threat environment working very close to the enemy positions supporting infantry with lots of small arms and artillery shrapnel flying around. So who would like to be the guy on the rear when they couldn't even protect the gun crews of Panzerjägers properly working (hopefully) at twice the distance - and having bullet protection plating surrounding most of the vehicles crew space.

Who ever made this contraption was doing it for a beer party, or they were actually testing something else we don’t know about (say put on gunshield and an belted MG151 or other types of Mgs).

The Loaders Mg protected position is however an interesting feature as this was a problem not solved until the StuG/Hetzer remote machinegun, but I doubt it would have some impact on the game.

Verdict. No. Sorry.

i dont know what you want to say,

it is clearly that it is to shoot ground targets, that is a standart Solothurn holder mounted to the engine deck, it probably was a one time build .

It would be  a nice unique addition, not a gamechanging difference  and who needs a gunshield? the ones on the Jagdpanzer 38T were to protect the gun, EVEN PAKS had a shield, too small for the crew , they were to protect the gun. Its more than nothing

I know people are going to hate me for saying this, but this sounds like a great premium/event vehicle!

I would love to see it come to the game as a SUMMER or WINTER event vehicle :good:

I just saw this on r/shittytechnicals.

It's an interesting idea, altough I'll be happy with just having the MG34, it can't be so difficault, still they folded the shield instead of adding it...

+1, but not for the Ausf.G we currently have. they should add one with saukopfblende and then made it a modification for this one

Why? The one pictured by the OP is an early Stug...(no cupola shot deflector and other such things)
