Hello, after a series of vehicle suggestions, here is my last one for a bit...

PTL-02 Assault Gun

The PTL-02 Assault Gun.

History:

The PTL-02, based on the Type 92 Wheeled armored vehicle family, is an assault gun designed to be a fast and mobile tank destroyer. Entering service in the early 2000's, the vehicle can provide long distance fire support while still maintaining a degree of flexibility in targeting fortifications, light vehicles, and ect. The Type 92 wheeled armored vehicle is likely designed/influenced from the Soviet BTR family of armored vehicles. The Type 92 originally debuted in 1986 with several subsequent modernization projects such as the PTL-02. The Type 92 platform is still widely used today and exported. A single variant of the PTL-02 exists with the change of the main gun to a 105mm NATO friendly tank gun for export purposes only.

Characteristics:

Armament:

-PTL-02 is predominantly armed with a 100mm high-pressure smoothbore gun (HVG) developed from the towed Type 86 towed gun. The gun is equipped with a vertical stabilizer, allowing the vehicle to fire stationary or on the move. -Also has a coaxial 7.62mm machine gun and a 12.7mm AA gun.

-RoF: 4 to 5rds/min

Ammunition (holds 30rds):

-APFSDS: Type 86 with a tungsten penetrator at a muzzle velocity of 1,610 m/s with an effective range of 1,800 m.

-HEAT: Type 73 fin-stabilised projectile at a muzzle velocity of 1,010 m/s.

-HE: Type 73 fin-stabilised projectile at a muzzle velocity of 900 m/s with a maximum range of 13,700 m.

Armor:

Welded steel hull designed to defend against only 12.7mm machine gun fire.

Equipment:

-Night Vision

-2 sets of smoke launchers, 3-6 launchers on each side.

-Fire Extinguishing System

Propulsion:

This vehicle can be fitted with shrouded propellers allowing for full amphibious capability.

These specifications only differ from the original with the change of the main gun, the 105mm which is only for export use due to using standard NATO ammunition.

In-game:

This vehicle would offer a unique new play style to the Chinese tech tree. It is highly mobile, with a top speed of 85km/hr, this tank would make a great comparison with the already implemented Centauro, AMX-10RC, ect. The armor being minimal and the lackluster reload speed, allows the vehicle to maintain a degree of vulnerability/fairness while still being a highly mobile hit and run vehicle. Great for flanking but completely exposed to any frontal conflict. I know that there is some difficulty with similarly wheeled vehicles already implemented, but this would provide a good counter as the Chinese are normally placed with Allied Powers.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

This vehicle has multiple variants, including the Yitian SPAAML (Missile Launcher) which is a fantastic AA vehicle or the Type 92B which is armed with a 30mm autocannon and the 9M14 ATGM! Although I am only representing the TD version, this can lay the foundation for other light vehicles and AA in the Chinese tree!

Similar to a BMP, closer to BTR variant with HJ-73D ATGM and 30mm autocannon.

I am curious as to exactly how this vehicle is going to be implemented. This magazine claims that it can "destroy a T-72 without ERA", which if assuming penetration though the upper front plate with APFSDS, would imply around 400mm+ or even 550mm+ of RHA penetration depending on the T-72 variant being referred to. This would put any other wheeled TD easily above 8.7, but if the stats provided above are accurate, it only has a vertical stabilizer, which would make it pretty hard to play against mid to late cold war MBTs. What kind of BR placement is this going to get?

It'd be incredibly funny to see it bully Tiger 2s with lolpen darts at 6.3 in a downtier though.

The PTL-02 looks great! Hopefully the ammunition is dev server only, I am 99% sure it uses better ammunition than the sabot round the Type 69 uses.

Well they did say it was going to be a rank 5 vehicle so it would make sense for it to not have a 400+mm dart. But yeah, I wouldn't mind the PTL getting at least a 300+mm dart it can fight 9.7+ MBTs with and an appropriate BR increase. There are other light vehicles that could go to 8.0 in its place anyway, the ZBD-86 with the BMP-2 gun for example.

That is true, if it gets NVDs and a better sabot round, it could join the 8.7 lineup. If not though, I won't be too fussed considering we still have other options like the WMA301 and ZTL-11.
