When it comes to neighboring nations that are added here i mostly tried with Uruguay and possibly Paraguay, who enjoyed a close military relation with Argentina for many years. Uruguayan Air Force and Naval aviation used to have a lot of cooperation with the Argentine Naval, as they trained thoghether and even Shared both Argentine Carriers. In the case of Paraguay the same can be said but with naval units and also with the Army, Bolivia its another case, i would love to have the Cavalier mustang, but i dont know how would most players take it, as it would be the second P-51 in the tree (and i guess most people really dislike the idea off seeing copies or the same vehicle in another form).

Ill consider it tho!

The Cavalier Mustang is a very different beast from the original aircraft.

Honestly, there are a tad bit too many trainers for my liking, especially earlier tiers. Other than that it's a lot of US, British and French aircraft overall. At least many of the planes haven't been added to their respective trees in WT yet.

I'd like to see some of the aircraft here, perhaps if it was combined with the rest of South and Central America you could get fewer trainers? I don't know if any of the nations other than Argentina actually produced any aircraft themselves though. That being said, I'd rather see more copied American/British/French aircraft rather than armed trainers that haven't been added to their original tech trees yet. The obvious exception is the Argentinian built jet trainers. Unfortunately all I seem to find from other Latin American nations are a bunch of trainers as well.

The jets look interesting though. I fear the counter-insurgency planes will either be placed at a BR where they will stomp hard, or be placed at a BR where they'll be entirely outclassed.

One thing I would like to see just for the hell of it would be Honduran and Salvadoran F4U corsairs and Cavalier Mustangs. They were the last nations to use piston engine powered fighters against each other, so it's a little special.

Edit:

Real quick I'd like to point out that ALL nations started without tanks. The two first nations that received tanks was Germany and the Soviet Union. American tanks were added later, same with the British. I think the original post you responded to was referring to having no tanks at all, not that the nation would be added with both tanks and planes present at the same time.

8000?  For that?  It'd better have some really good air-to-surface loadouts.

They better model the Aztazou engines. I personally heard them regularly as they traveled over my town and even once one did very low passages in a "visit" to greet a former Air Force officer here, circling around time.
Their sound is unique, that in the videos is nothing alike. They sound very hard low like a nest of wasp sounding like a bass concert.

I think it's a good move from Gaijin that Argentina will be represented in Germany. Can't wait for more additions, and man am I hyped for the I.Ae. 58A Pucará!  :shturm_light:

I'm really happy that they are giving representation to Argentinian aviation in one way or another, this was very well deserved.

Also it has 2,000 HP engines holy damn

Okay, I can see where the price comes from then.  Still a bit pricey for my liking, but I might get it on sale.

  • 4 weeks later...

Couldn't post this on the Pucara topic since it was passed to the devs, but here are pictures of the Pucara at the Bourget in 1979 showing a whole bunch of french rockets, bombs and gunpods as armament options :

What you see its just a display, i do have a list of the armament that was proposed  to be used on the aircraft, but not all was fitted, tested or inducted into service. A few of the things seen in the picture are indeed common armament found on the Pucara, but others might be a bit hard to confirm.

Of course, but I’m pretty sure all were compatible, since French weaponry is usually standardized to be fitted on most kinds of pylons. IIRC the DEFA gunpod in the middle was mentionned somewhere and might’ve been used in service (?).

Yes, the 3 pylons are universal, sure SNEB pods were compatible, just like almost everything in that picture, but in as far as i can remember and in between the stuff i have in my archive, the Pucara never used or tested the Snebs (or any of the larger rockets/gunpods/bombs shown there)

As for the 30mm gunpod...yep, it was at least fitted and testsd in in one of the test units AX-04 (?)

EDIT: btw i have a pic around of it with french TER/MER, ill prob add it soon

@CedjoeWell, for starters, the list begins with the internal armament:

Spoiler

Captura_de_pantalla_2022-01-01_a_las_14.

it does list both 30mm configuration on the B and the 20mm config on the A (this was prob made before the C was ever built)

Copia_de_ia58pucara-armas-f.jpg

on one pic, we can clearly see the 4 machine guns and the 2 cannons, while on the other, the closest i found to show the 30mm DEFA on the Bravo

Copia_de_IA_58_AX_7.jpg

Moving to Bombs and rockets: (which is what interests us the most)

Spoiler
  • Rockets

As for rockets the list shows:

Captura_de_pantalla_2022-01-01_a_las_14.

Starting with the LAU-3A, this is the standard pod with 19 rockets, this would englobe all the variants and clones that were used (LAU-60/Argentine made equals)

Copia_de_IA-58-099v-1.jpg

The LAU-10 is a strange find, since i could find a single picture of an argentine Pucara with said rocket pod, but, i did found that the Uruguayan examples did field them.

image.php.jpeg

LAU-32A are the smaller pod with 7 rockets (also visible on the Uruguayan example). This was used by the Argentine Air Force, but the LAU-3 derivatives were preferred over them (7 Vs 19 rockets each and a total of 49/63 vs 133 at their max capacity).

The next 4 are called 2 inch British Number 6 and 7...that could be this?

zmIeqUJ.png

The pods being the first and second pic.

The next are MATRA F-1 and F-2 pods, witch are the same ones the Mirage uses, that i have no recollection of ever seeing one on a Pucara.

Lastly the YARARA...that could mean a strange pod used for training or the more normal style training pod

LaTCRpt.jpg

  • Bombs

Captura_de_pantalla_2022-01-01_a_las_15.

A lot more choices here...

For instance, the PG AN-M 30/57/64/81/88/117 were in the argentine inventory (as other Aircraft used them), but there is nothing of them ever being fitted. (at least not in their original configuration)

The PG Bofors bombs....no idea

A rare thing to see is the ASA FM, this was...an argentine made bomb/depth charge used by the navy (Corsair, T-28, Alouette III, AT-11), again, no certainty of them being ever used on the Pucara.

SH6.jpg

The MATRA SAMP bombs are another example of "seen in expos only", some of this bombs were in the argentine inventory, so its possible that they were tested?

The last bombs to be names are the Mk.81/82/83 series of bombs, this would be the most used examples by the Pucara, being in almost all pics of the type.

BNt4SLWCQAAXxmF.jpg

Something that i might add...

This list and its contents are quite old, its possible that even before the IA.58A had its first production units, things like the MP, IMI bombs and other payload options that were seen fitted and used. But it gives an idea of how much it carried and what type of armament were supposed to be used on it.

A HUGE DISCLAIMER

The list named mostly PROPOSED ARMAMENT, What i add are the confirmation that some user homologated/tested or adopted said armament into their Pucaras.

Not very fast or nimble, but very well armed, not very usefull in air RB, but i say itll be quite decent in Ground RB.
