Very little is known about this SPH project.
An ambitious (at the time,1982) SPH project based on the Merkava Mk. 1 hull.
Had two variants, early variant with an L/45 gun and a later one with L/52 gun (a rare feature in 1980s). 
The earlier L/45 Sholef variant even took part in combat, shelling targets in Lebanon in 1990.
The later L/52 variant would be the final Sholef variant.
It featured same mobility as Merkava Mk. 1, plus came with an APU.
Was also capable of direct fire featuring a Laser range finder and could fire on the move with a 2-plane stabilizer.
Armor wise was much better protected than SPHs and featured blowout stowage for its propellant charges.
Had max sustainable rate of 9 rpm or a 3-round burst @15 sec. 
In spite of these promising features, it was a very expensive with all the advanced FCS and automation: IDF chose instead to upgrade existing M109s to M109 Doher and buy M270 MLRs.
