Napolegnom's comprehensive list of Unicode characters for the Warthunder ingame font

This list contains 191 different unicode characters that all represent some emote, icon or roundel in the ingame font and will get updated soon™

Every entry in the main lists shows the normal UTF-8 Unicode Icon, the official descriptive name, as well as its hexcode and some keyboard shortcut if available.

Also, every row has a descriptive name for the ingame icon, a picture showing the ingame icon, and also a short description of the icon and where you can find it ingame. A link to a Unicode database is provided with every entry, and all Unicode Icons have a unique identifier to sort them in the list.

 

As a lot of icons have been removed as of Update 2.1.0.18 - New Power, previous entrances have been saved in the REMOVED table. Some Unicode characters have a custom icon in the ingame font, which just shows the actual unicode character. These special cases can be found in the ORDINARY table.

Wow, excellent job! An improvement over the last thread if I say so...

 

@Napolegnom Might I recommend taking that excel file, and instead of linking it for download, uploading it to google sheets and posting that link here? It will be far easier for people who may not have Office or excel to view your work. Unfortunately on my non-work pc I don't have office, so I uploaded it quick to google sheets and it looks just fine there. I'll be happy to show you how to do this in PM if you want.

I have not found a distinguished heart yet, but some Unicode characters are just transcribed 1:1 into the ingame font.
I guess the ♥ emote for playing cards should work for ingame chat, if anybody is curious.

Ok, I think I have found every icon there is in version 1.97. If I should have missed one, please let me know! Also, if there is some use I haven't found that you know about, please inform me too.

 

Some interesting founds include:

 

•    These polish roundels (I remember it being used on some polish P-47, but I am not sure)
•  These three ship icons (Bismarck when? ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) )
•  This nice sun looking like a roundel for Taiwanese (ROC) vehicles that should have been used instead of the chinese five stars (maybe somebody can create a localization that uses this symbol?)

 

 

P.S.: If anybody has a monitor thats bigger in resolution than 1080p (4k would be ideal) and has loads of time on their hand, hit me up. The best picture of a character I can get is not very good as you can see.

Status update:
I finally added a preview picture for every character, so you don't have to decipher my description or copy the character into ingame chat to actually take a look at it!

The images are bound into the spreadsheet via a function and are not part of the sheet itself, to reduce loading times.

 

As always, should you know some character or its use or have any criticism, please let me know!

Woot Wot, added five new icons to the list in version 1.5.0, includling three icons for the three main platforms Steam (basically PC), XBox and PlayStation.

Added two new Icons in version 1.5.1. These icons come directly from the newest patch (1.99.1.57).

New update, new icon! Its icon 280, the new naval mine!

Update 2.1.0.18 "New Power" dropped, and as its such a mayor update, I immediatly went on to search for new icons (e.g. a nuke icon or similar).

 

However, I quickly realized that Gaijin apparently removed alot of already existing Unicode characters from the Warthunder font! 

It would take up way too much space to list them all here, but all that have been removed as of this post are marked in the list.

The removed icons include many squadron-tagborders, all of the controller buttons, many redundant characters, icons for the D-cap and other miscellaneous icons.

 

The squadron leaderboard looks rather plain now, thanks to that 

 

I will check the icons again in a week or so, giving Gaijin some time to fix this should it be a bug. Otherwise, I will rework the list accordingly.

The "sun" unicode has been disabled since the "New Power" update. It broke in my localization mods and any attempts to replace it with a new one fresh from the source has been futile. Instead of appearing as suns, they appear as boxes with "X"s through them.

I used to mark to allies with the : ▒ but now in the game this does not work. And evidently none of the other unicodes

Yeah, that "x in a box" icon is the only new icon I found, as it replaces that rectangle you see when there is no image encoded in the font for a particular unicode character (even though they half-assed that aswell, looking at the squadron tag borders)

I really hope this is just a mistake on Gaijins behalf, as this update has some quite querky changes to some small things.

That one is an odd one aswell, but I guess it never got used, and they wanted to make space for some other icon in the future (even though they didn't replace it with the "x in box" icon)

Good news everyone!

Well, atleast kinda good news. Gaijin re-added all the squadron tag borders. Not the other icons though. I marked those re-added in green for now, until I rework the table. Also, to commemorate the brave icons fallen in battle, I will keep their list entries in a seperate table in the same document.

As New Power introduced quite drastric changes to the ingame engine and also the ingame font, I feel like its the perfect opportunity to introduce... 

 

UPDATE 2.0.0!

I updated the original post with new information, but here's a small tl;dr:

• There are two new lists: REMOVED and ORDINARY
  • REMOVED contains the icons that have been removed in previous updates
  • ORDINARY contains all icons that are represented in the ingame font, but just display the actual unicode character
• The main list got cut down to 196 icons. Some icons may have new identifiying numbers!
• The new icon 0, which is the replacer for non-existing icons, has been put on the list

Feel free to leave feedback about the changes. I swear I will never sell overpowered (ﾉ◕ヮ◕)ﾉ*:･ﾟ✧ premium ✧ﾟ･: *ヽ(◕ヮ◕ヽ) icons!

smol update!
I added a whole bunch of icons to the ordinary list (the new nuclear icon is in there too). Pictures will come with time, as there's about 270 new files I have to create.

I think we can officially call the ones that were wiped like "␘" removed. Kinda sad since I really liked to use that one for my ROC vehicles.
