COVID-19: What are YOUR TOP 5 Accomplishments in War Thunder During the Pandemic?

or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Coronavirus

During social-isolation of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have been confined to our homes with more time than usual to play our favourite game, War Thunder.  In fact, so much free time has presented opportunities to set and accomplish goals that are sometimes difficult to address, but during the pandemic, completing these tasks has been an added bonus and an effective way to pass the day!

For me, I play mainly aviation, so my achievements tend towards activities in the air but I’ve enjoyed other accomplishments including a greater appreciation of WT and the engagement of its wonderful online community.

Without further ado, please find below [IIAC] OXidE’s TOP 5 War Thunder scores during the pandemic.

TOP 5 Accomplishments in War Thunder Aviation During the COVID-19 Pandemic

  1. Formed the [IIAC] Squadron, established a dedicated [IIAC] Discord server and gathered the most belligerent group of glorious xxxxxxxx this game has ever seen.
  2. Contributed my first entries to the WT forum and engaged with this wonderful community of die-hard killers and game enthusiast!
  3. Advanced research on Swedish planes to level 3.7 and now have all the push planes, fully modded.
  4. Created several preset decks for each nation with assorted battle ratings to quickly accommodate squad mates seeking to play at particular BRs. (i.e [IIAC] Tier 1: 1.3 BR biplanes, [IIAC] Tier 2: 2.7 BR planes, [IIAC] Tier 3:7 etc …
  5. Received a War Thunder daily bonus for each day of the lock down.

What are your TOP 5 accomplishments in WT during the pandemic?

What novel things have you been doing on WT to pass the time?

What opportunities to experience unfamiliar aspects of War Thunder have you explored?

May be you played realistic for the first time or broke the speed of sound in a new jet … the good people of [IIAC] want to know!

Of course! My squadron has plenty of tankers … we want to know how you have been spending your time, too!

Thanks for asking, @Stahlvormund101

So, here goes:

1. Got the Object 279 and Sd.Kfz. 234/1 from the Space Race Event

2. Shot down an IL-2 with the SACLOS rocket of my german BMP-1

3. Hid behind a fence, tree and brush from a Tiger II H as a T-44 for a minute until the guy decided to drive past me, which I then answered with a shot in the side. I am amazed he didn't notice me there, as I was partly visible. Guess I blended in too well

4. Got my first piece of brush camouflage for my tanks from the Warbonds Shop and a T20

5. Submitted my first videos to the Thundershow

Excellent Stahl!  These achievements are terrific! Thanks for sharing.

You even linked your post to aviation! Nice work rocketing that IL-2.

Cool that you submitted your first video to the community too.

1. Getting at least one vehicle without using the market during THAT event.

2. Grinding out some of the Swedish Tech Tree to 3.0 before I started pulling my hair out.

3. Made a real nice looking skin for the 279.

4. Got my B-29 and B-57 and spaded my B-24 in about 10 matches.

5. I couldn't think of number 5 because I haven't played much during the pandemic.

But I'd say my greatest accomplishment was breaking the stockholm syndrome-like addiction I had to War Thunder, and actually doing more productive things like planning out my next steps for my sound mod, and maybe a future sound mod using sounds from various other video games, and of course actually playing other games with friends that don't make me want to dig a hole in my house, throw my computer and a snail down it, pour gasoline into the hole, and then toss a molotov down.

All in all, fun times. Especially since I still have to work.

Thats probably a decent number 5, MPRA2.

Thanks for sharing these.

You have presented some interesting activities ... creating skins and sound modding seem fun.

Wow! That's dedication! 895 login bonuses is an achievement in its self. Do you have any highlights? What were some of the best bonuses you won?

We have a player in the [IIAC] squad who luckily drew the 1,000,000 silver lions bonus.

Going outside to enjoy the lack of people and not playing this

Life is a fine balance. It sounds like you really made the right call to get outside and enjoy life in peace and quiet. It is highly recommended to take breaks from gaming and take outdoor exercise.

War Thunder, like a loyal friend, is always there when you return.

Thank you for your contribution. It's interesting that you quit WT years ago, and that you recently recalled 'why' you quit, but post to the WT forum still.
You might not have quit WT as thoroughly as you thought?

1. Realize that the bomber meta is dead and your sole existence is to server fighters as RP pinatas

In what mode? In my experience, in AB bombers can cause fighters some trouble if they're not playing passively. No idea how well that translates into other modes though.

RB. If you play bombers in general (excluding russian Tu4, Sunderland, bv and any other exceptions), if you see a fighter you have 0 chance. Let alone 2 fighters. One strafe and you fall apart like lego dropped from a building, meanwhile your turrets are so inaccurate and ineffective your only way of killing a fighter is to weigh it down with the bullets and hope it crashes due to the extra weight. What about altitude? Fighters have more than enough time to get to your altitude and even higher before you do. The stirling has a 1.7m/s climb rate! Speed? You're always the slowest. You have more chance to survive in a fighter than a bomber. Bombers in game have a win rate at about 17% I think while fighters are much higher.

Never tell me the odds! All kidding aside, thanks for sharing this data. That’s an unfortunate stat considering that bombers are so important to prevent cap and holds in many aviation matches.

I generally run three fighters and two bombers in my arcade decks. I guess the bombers are a necessary sacrifice and part of the game. They are needed in most matches if only they stood a chance.

Hey Sarin

No doubt about your #1 WT is blistering with banter. I’m glad you got that off your list and WT could oblige.

3 K/D is a solid achievement. Congrats.

I've managed to log in every day, play just enough to win my war bonds, and quit for the day before I threw my monitor out the window.

I totally agree with this, looking forward to getting back to work so I have less free time and this gets put way way way back on the backburner. I think it would be more fun, less tedious, less frustrating and less painful to carve Gaijin into my arm with a rusty razorblade.

No doubt Wummele1 ... wishing you a speedy return to work and life's return to normalcy.
Putting a game down and getting back to life is a worthy achievement.

Thank you OXidE, I hope you and all your family and friends are well and wish you a speedy return to some sort of normal in the near future. One of the weird things is my company placed me on furlough (as it is called in the UK) just as the space rocket event started, I had given up playing since the repair the plane event but decided to see how annoyed I would become. I did get very annoyed even to the point of hurting myself in frustration, bad temper and a long fuse I have. But I did get the tank, which I expect I will never use and the English gunboat, which I may use one day. It did once again though show me the futility and lack of engagement and anything new in the game and I have returned to playing the boosters out and maybe a handful of games if the booster is a single or five game one.

I have an absolute stack of orders and wagers which will never be used as well. There is just no enjoyment in the game any more it is no longer fun or engaging and I have started to play and spend in games I would never have usually just because they are new, fun and engaging.
