Launcher no longer works when launched via Steam

A few days ago, Warthunder's launcher hasn't been launching properly. Each time i launch it via steam it says it launches, but anytime I click, nothing happens or if I hover over it, it'll be a white square in the taskbar.. or invisible on the desktop. I've tried reinstalling it 3 times, and I've used "ran as administrator" which doesn't work either. I'm also unable to verify the game files via Steam either. Why is this happening? please help. I really don't want to restart

How long does it stay like this? In the brackets it says finishing download.

Try to run "aces" directly, go to War Thunder>win64>aces. When it says would you like to open the launcher try both yes and no. Check if the game runs properly when you press no and if the launcher opens correctly when you press yes.

Anyway I believe you can directly download the game form Gaijin's website and still retain your account because I think Gaijin always asks for an E-mail ID for using the Gaijin market. I myself first started playing through Steam but now I just directly open the launcher and update the game/play without using steam.

Also I'll tag @relliK because he's much better at troubleshooting than me.

It stays like this for a few hours and doesn’t change. As for the Aces it will launch the games log in but not the Launcher, and each time it does try opening the launcher its the same result.

and I don’t have my Steam linked to a Email ID for Gaijin as I didn’t think I would need too. If there was a way outside the game to bind my Steam to a Gaijin account without losing progress I would.

(Edit: nevermind found the account email bind, I’ll try the separate launcher and Aces.exe and get back to you.)

(Edit2: So, after downloading a separate launcher I have encounter the same issue I'm having for the Steam version, just a invisible box on my desktop and not responding to clicks on the taskbar, but I am able to play through the aces.exe.. I can post the log from the separate launcher if that would help.)

sorta got it figured out, Thanks to another forum post

have to change the shortcut properties and set the launcher window to run on maximized instead of normal, anytime it was on minimized or normal it would do the white square. Still unfortunately unable to launch it from steam, but I can just launch it from my taskbar.

I don't exactly remember why but I stopped using steam for War Thunder a long time ago, it kept giving me problems from time to time with updates and some other stuff, good thing here is that you can link your Gaijin and Steam accounts to retain progress, so now I play directly through Gaijin's launcher.
